Kate: You look absolutely fabulous in that silver/grey dress. Stunning. Also, your closet is so neat and organised that I must go and do some general tidying around the house because you've made me very conscious of it's disarray. Great video. Thanks for posting.
I'm trying to let no fabric for to waste. Even when the clothing becomes ripped in a way that makes it unwearable as the garment it was originally, I keep it and try to refashion it into something else. Or if I like the pattern on say a shirt I don't wear tshirts because I have no use for garments of that fit, but I can make it into a peplum, a leotard or a skirt if I like for the very hot summers we have here. I learned a lot from my last elder care client. She mended her clothes. Her wardrobe was capsulated. She was very cognizant of the types of fabrics and the colors and honestly the most elegant human being I've ever known. 😁 I now have a four season color coded closet. With only the lightest and thinnest fabrics allowed in the summers. Let me tell you I have a lot less issues with heat exhaustion these last four years. Bless her.
Trying to find textile recycling for synthetic clothing is next to impossible. So I now try to purchase garments made from natural materials. Repurposing would be ideal. I may have to take up sewing.
That silvery grey dress!! I have very little vintage clothing but I do have beautiful gloves that belonged to my Mom and my Aunts. When I retired from corporate life and was decluttering my clothes, I was pleased to see well made, decades old clothing still in perfect condition. It was hard to give them up, but at least I could see how I spent my money!
Nice video! I laughed at the idea of being watchful of trends and also the risk of being gossiped about for buying something in haste or showing up to a luncheon while wearing something inappropriate and ill-fitting. I’m overwhelmed at the idea of listing what’s in my closet but it’s such a good idea for planning out your purchases!
That was surprisingly useful. Even if just for a reminder to carefully think about your purchases and what you actually need and have use for. It also somehow gave me motivation to organise my closet? Nice.
Many times I bought shoes that never matched any of my clothes. And the idea of having similar colors that your accessories could be worn with. I want to go through my closet now too!
Cool video and neat blue knit top. If you made that yourself it looks amazing. And let me know what store Harold is working in. I want him to wait on me!
These were really good tips ☺️💕 I need to organize and update my wardrobe. I want more vintage clothing for everyday wear not just for going out. Love your videos 💕 Seriously I wish I can make my own clothes 😭
This is excellent! Love your choice of the topic, the source, and the illustrative way you put the videos together. You had me laughing at your "study, observation, and constant watchfulness" and "joy of making your own clothes" interpretations. 😅 Hope to see many more of these historical advice videos! P.S. The movie clip at 4:51 is such fun--where is it from? -Christie
It’s amazing how relevant to today this is!!

This advice is just as important a century later.

Your outfit at the end is delightful.🌿 I also love the shoes which feature throughout!
Still relevant in a great many respects today! Thank you!

That is so cool! The outfit matching the cover was spot on.
Can confirm: seam ripping is indeed a "Joy".😒

Thanks! 🙂 The clip is from Safety Last (1923).
@@TheLongHairedFlapper Even the title is funny! I'll be checking that out, thanks!
I'd get lost in the film clips and have to replay parts of the video to get back on subject.
Some things remain the same it seems.
“joy”. 🤣🤣🤣🪡🧵
