Could you recommend a "starter machine". I've sold hundreds of 112s and Yupoongs with heat press applications and I'm looking to get into embroidering hats. I've heard great things about Ricoma over the years and want to use your machines. Thank you.
Hi! It depends how fast you are selling, but our starter machine is our EM-1010 that has 10 needles. Check it out here---> ricoma.com/US/product-category/embroidery
Thank you so much! I'm currently fighting with an run of Richardson hats and keep having thread break issues over the seam. I was using regular cap tear away, so I'm going to ditch that for light weight and tighten up my hooping! Thank for for restoring my sanity!
Hi there, she may not have mentioned the speed in this video, but you can watch us to 112s as 1000 spm right here: th-cam.com/video/V1M2_aLaNWc/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=RicomaEmbroideryMachines
Can you please tell me the brand and size needle best for Richardson caps? I noticed you said 90/14. I’ve been using Organ and get tons of needle breaks. Thank you 🤗
Hi there, thanks so much for watching. It depends on the type of hat and the design that you are stitching. For instance, structured hats are more difficult to embroider because of the tough seam in the center. Make sure that you design is stitching from the center out and the bottom up. That's the first thing. Secondly, you can use titanium needles (75/11 or 80/12) as these are more durable and will be able to better penetrate the fabric. However, if you are doing small lettering, you want to use 65/9 needles with 60W thread. If this is the case, make sure that your design is specifically digitized for small lettering. Hope this helps!
Hi Brandon! This is a great question to ask in our Facebook support group, Embroidery and Custom Apparel Mastery. So i understand on how to do all she is talking about. Are there any other tricks and or tops on setting up the actual machine prior to embroidering on these R112 Caps???? Something for sure had to have been adjusted on the machine itself.......
Hello! We have linked a video from our TH-cam channel that shows a tutorial on how to embroider the sides of a hat. th-cam.com/video/CdqfSZQ8QLc/w-d-xo.html

Some of their hats are MUCH harder to embroider than others because some of them feel more like plastic on the inside rather than fabric. I lose a TON of needles on those caps. The Navy/White that you embroidered on is one of the easy ones. I have one of their cap colors that I just flat out cannot figure out how to embroider and it's their Khaki/Coffee colored cap. The closest I can get is by using the 90/14 needle, but my issue is that the needle is so thick that it frays the fabric around the design and completely DESTROYS the fabric when those needles pop... and they still break excessively. I've tried everything including attempts to soften the cap itself but still had to refund my customer because I just couldn't get them to cooperate.
Oh and I should add that I'm not even trying to embroider the seam on that particular cap (Richardson 112, Khaki/Coffee). It's just a single panel design.

Falto que hay que bajar la velocidad de puntadas, pero también es importante, que sacarás un diseño desde que se diseña en el programa hasta que se borda, porque muchas veces lo que falla es el diseño.
Hi there, the type of thread that you are using depends largely on the hat, size of the design and so much more. Check out this Ultimate Embroidery Cheat Sheet for helpful info that you can refer back to: info.ricoma.com/the-ultimate-embroidery-cheat-sheet

Hi Christy! We recommend reaching out to the service team so they can give you some pointers ---->service@ricoma.com
I did not hear you mention or read a comment on it, but what speed are you using for the 112’s, or does it matter?

So for smaller text on Richardson or flex fit hats would you not recommend 75/11 needles?
How small? Anything 6mm and above should be fine to use 80/12 needle.
Can you please tell me the brand and size needle best for Richardson caps? I noticed you said 90/14. I’ve been using Organ and get tons of needle breaks. Thank you 🤗

You can use the regular needles --> 90/14

Are you able to use a cap digitized design for other fabrics?
HI there, designs digitizing for caps are specifically meant for the curvature of the cap and would not work on any other garments.
Thank you
will you doing any videos on the swd 1501
Yes stay tuned.
Hi, I am struggling being able to embroider on a Richardson 112 on just either the left side or right side with the design not being too high. Can you do a video.
You probably just have to change the parameters on your machine to lower the design
@@ricomatv how do I change the parameters. I’ve searched for so long and can not find any information on that
