ARTMS Debut Birth MV Analysis / Imposter Members and their connections to Loossemble & Loonaverse

- Soo ARTMS just made their debut with Birth and I really love the song and MV!
Everything in this MV is a piece of art and is just so interesting to me!
A lot of it reminds me of older horror movies, like Invasion of the Body Snatchers , The Thing or The Village of the Damned (which I really love as a horror fan TT)
I feel like this MV is kind of hinting at the fact that the Dall Album might be related to the Loossembles comeback, but also their connections to the YYXY members, which both Loossemble and ARTMS have!
And I had the theory that Jinsoul might be tunring to the dark side / that there is a big bad in this comeback that needs to be overcome... and I was kind of right? But it seems like all of the girls are controlled, but by who?
I'm really exited to see what they planed for us (with the next 3 songs) and maybe they will fit the old lore ( the Hi High and Butterfly timeline) into this comeback!

actually , choerry in artms’ most recent video (artms born again as quintuples) said that their concept was actually inspired by the movie “miss peregrine home for peculiar children” , so I like how u mentioned the movie !

(and this could also kind of mean that the idea of them being in an orphanage for gifted people could be right...🤔)
I'm amazed by the amount of lore they put into a mv that is barely 3 minutes long....and the artwork is so cool and eerie i'm in love with it😭

My interpretation is that they were raised by this deitie, but set themselves free by killing and separating her into pieces, that they carry in their luggage( a symbol of guilt), so she cant comeback. The mv tells the story of trying to move on despite being haunted by their past. Their twin look represents the past, and the deitie cornering heejin is basically her being haunted by it. Anyways, love videos like this. Keep up the good work!

It kind of reminds me of the ending of Chainsaw man part 1. (Spoiler warning!) In that story Denji (the protagonist) has to cut up and eat the bad guy in order for them to not be able to come back and be a bad guy.
So maybe the members are taking in this negative energy from the light being and now struggle with visions, since the being acts as some type of parasite (still being active in their bodies)?🤔
pretty much! I see them going separate ways as to allow them to be their own people ( since they were raised as quintuplets, and an extension of artemis herself), but to also keep her severed. If I could see further, I'd probably say that each member represents a trait of artemis( an ego, like haseul said), but also that each trait (mind, heart, strength, speed, etc) corresponds to the body part they guard. I mostly think that's it because it's a darker concept + jinsouls mentions pretending not to know lip in the subway scene, and saying the luggage has something about it( choice of words!), but mostly because if they had just ran away or killed artemis, the drawings would just show her angry or bloody. So I think slashing her was a very intentional choice. Probably they'll reunite in the next mv, or we'll have more emphasis on their separated lives while guarding the parts.
havent watched all the way through yet so dont know if you mention it but the manipulated memories thing reminds me of how in the sensitive mv the loossemble girls are said to be reliving their memories of earth while on the spaceship, and the sinister man we see in sensitive might be a reference to the memories being corrupted or manipulated in some way

also idk if you saw, but choerry confirmed in the photoshoot behind uploaded today that the aesthetic was inspired by miss peregrine's home for peculiar children, so that may be confirmation that the story is related as well- i think you're spot on with the whole orphanage idea.

what if Haseul is trapped in the house while theres an imposter mimicking her? is that why Haseul is the only member who had red under her arm in the scene with the 5 members sitting at the table?

My observations:
1. Some cultures regard stag/deer like creature as the guardian of the forest, e.g.: Japanese Yatsukamizuomitsuno or Slavic Leshy. Circle back to your old videos about what forest could represent, the goddess might kill the guardian of the forest as a way to seal the gate to "a world".
2. In several creation myths, severed body parts of a god could be an origin of creation. The goddess has 5 severed body parts and then there are 5 fetuses falling from sky. And because I am delusional, I think the 5 fetuses represent Loosemble; Loona assemble = if they are assembled they would form The Goddess of the Moon.
Your theory about the guardian of the forest is really interesting! I should look into this. ^^

Artemis is sometimes referred to as "Artemis of Selene" since she is not the Moon, but kind of like a helper of her (and the Moon is Selene). And the same thing is true for Helios the god of the sun! There it is "Apollon of Helios" (if I remember correctly).
SO what if ARTMS are the 5 parts of Artemis / the moon (Selene) and then Loossemble are 5 parts of the sun / Helios.
This would also explain why Loossemble has such a light and cute concept! And why they say in their teaser that your fate is made by yourself, while we see the ARTMS members struggle with their fate, since it is put unto them by others.🤔

Very cool theory! I have 2 things to add though:
1: I think the apostrophe after Birth is just part of a quotation (the whole video title includes 'Pre1: Birth' which I think in this case, they're just using apostrophes in place of quotation marks).
2: My interpretation of the goddess shooting the chimera is actually the reverse: what if the chimera is the real goddess, and the one shooting her is the imposter, who then uses the real goddess's death to create the imposter members?

What if the impostor is just trusted more, bc it looks pretty and ethereal, but then the deer chimera kind of god is not trusted and people are scared of it? It would be a funny way of showing Ourii how easy it is to trick someone, like not only were the ARTMS members fooled, but we were as well, haha😂
I'm kind of of two minds about the fully grown flowers. They could be the imposter members being grown, or they could be the original members mutated and rooted into the ground like Ursula's little creatures in The Little Mermaid. We watch each of the real members get their life force 'stolen' and become trapped, represented both by those mutated flowers and them being immobilized on the train

Yeah, now that you say it, there could be something there. Like, what if the members loose their Odd Eye powers and are unable to do anything about their situation anymore? And then Loossemble could be their knight in shining armor! ^^

halfway through the vid right now but just had a theory about why we see 2 versions of members, etc.
what if the drawings are all like a fake history/folklore that the glowing entity is showing to artms to be like "I'm your god and creator this is how it happened" making them forget their lives in the loonaverse/warp their real memories and maybe in future mvs it will evolve with new technology to incorporate AI into its tricks? but in reality the grungey members are their real selves trying to resist the entity and they wear those other outfits when it's fake memories or them being brainwashes/lured in by it? so even if the 5 comets are meant to be artms with haseul in the foreground it could just be a fake memory from the entity
alternatively the comets are actually happening outside haseul's window and they're loossemble coming to where they are? like in a recent alternate teaser pic where the 5 loossemble members were looking up at a green sun/glowing light

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this, but maybe the different light means something? The light creature with Jinsoul, which is definitely not the goddess, gives off an orange light, while the creature with Heejin gives blue. The goddess also gives off a blueish light in the illustration of her (20.35) Could it be that Heejin met the real goddess, and that's why she's crying (the 'fear of god' you mentioned)? Though there's still no horn so my theory doesn't match perfectly lmao.
A second theory: in the 'Born Again as Quintuplets Photo Behind' video, Haseul says that the concept is "the 5 egos of ARTMS" (if the translation is accurate) The goddess is broken into 5 pieces in the art, so the girls are apparently those 5 pieces made into people. With that in mind, Heejin meeting the light creature must be it taunting her.
Well but you're right about the color being different! In Haseul, Kim lip and Jinsouls scenes the light is redish, just like the outline on the drawn goddess (in the illustrations). Then Heejin is the only one that sees a big blue goddess.
And about the girls being the 5 parts of Artemis: I feel like the timeline is not really made clear in the MV on purpose, maybe Artemis gives up 5 pieces of herself to give the ARTMS members powers (odd eye powers maybe), but then there is this impostor light being that maybe copies this by creating 5 new beings (the impostor ARTMS members).
That would be my guess, bc there is no doubt in my mind that the ARTMS members are given power by Artemis ( I mean it is basically in their name lol), but then her being dead and butch3r3d (I don't know if TH-cam will delete the comment if I write the actual word sorry) does not look like something that she would do to herself, but more so something that is done to her.
So someone killed Artemis to steal her powers away and then there are these flower impostor members created, so this made me think about there being two goddesses, Artemis and this copycat (with two ARTMS groups as well). ^^
i think we might get a haseul odd eye reveal in the title track mv!
remember that in let me in, the loona logo has a red background. that could add to their connection (i always thought it was just hinting at odd eye circle looking for haseul with the yellow car but)
idk if it means anything, but the sun has 7 rays? arms? which is the number of other loona girls not in artms. also the number of trees in the background when artemis is shooting the deer thing is 7. it's been noted that the number of girls auditioning at the end of the algorithm mv was also 7 (although that included heejin) and that was a parallel to the sensitive mv (and maybe love4eva). so maybe this number 7 representing the other girls will continue to be significant moving forward.
Really keen eyes you have! That would definitely be an interesting detail (and it fits into the 12 that is shown to us when Heejin meets the light lady!) ^^
i theorized the train itself symbolized the process of rebirth, which is why theyre all together at the end like the 5 stars and seeds and then it ends with the light blinding, because theyre blooming at the end and are reborn. Also, i theorized the Chimera was actually the Goddess Artemis herself, but her animal form similar to the rest of the girls. Also worth noting, its Green and Pink because if you invert the colors, the sky is light pink and the grass is bright green like the OEC Realm.
Well the chimera could definitely be a part of Artemis (I just don't know what that would mean for the story), and I didn't notice the OEC colors being used for the deer scene, but thanks for letting me know! ^^
Here my theory:
What if Artemis/goddess and the Chimera are related or possibly twins? Based on greek mythology, Artemis(goddess of the hunt and moon) has a twin brother named Apollo. Now Apollo is the God of archery, music/poetry, healing/diseases, Sun/light, truth/prophesies, and has the ability to ward off evil. In loona lore, twin/alt versions of the girlies has been a common refs. I.e. Haseul killing her twin self (the blond hair boy ver.) in the Let me in mv. (Maybe Haseul and her twin ver are Artemis/apollo???)
In the mv, both the chimera and Artemis have unicorn horns, which could be referring to possible relations. Also, there are those art clips of the sun(Apollo) and the moon (Artemis) in the background. Then there the clips of Artemis attacking the chimera w/ the bow/arrow and his diseased head bust w/o its unicorn horn. What if Artemis used the chimera/Apollo's own bow to k*ll him w/ his own disease. Again, Apollo is the god of archery and diseases.
If the chimera is truly Apollo, I'm not exactly sure why 'Artemis would want to k*ll her own brother. Maybe to become super powerful by taking his powers and the girls??

the chimera creature in the mv also looks a lot like the forest god in Princess Mononoke which is based on a Buddhist deity called Yatsukamizuomitsuno

Great video! Do you think theres a chance the 5 babies could be loossemble? We last seen them in space returning to earth and they could be returning to earth to save/help or maybe even confront the ARTMS members, im not sure myself but ive seen a few people theorizing that it could be loossemble. I noticed a few things throughout the mv as well. The Chimera also has a black circle appear on it the same way the member leaving the castle has a blue circle, im not sure how that is important though but it is interesting. I definitely think haseul and kim lip are being separated in this mv, there was three glasses but 5 plates at haseuls table which singles 2 people out. Choerry was seen coming out of an earth pod while hyunjin was seen coming out of a space pod. The lolita outfits are also very similar to gowons one and only outfit which was in Eden. I seen a lot of people saying the mv was a huge nod to silent hill, the horror video game - i havent played it but moonfalls birth theory mentions it.
The girls did a live reaction to the MV and they mentioned the babies/plant things are them

Well, first of all there is the possibility that these flowers could be Loossemble, but the ARTMS members impostors are seen at the end of the MV sitting together like a yearbook photo, so these detail do not fit together when we think that the flower people are Loossemble. But since there are illusions in this MV, I can not really tell you what is true or not... (but there definitely is something there, I mean maybe the Loossemble members are needed to set there doppelganger free?)
Yeah, the chimera has a black circle on it's leg, and there are these black circles on the babies, so there definitely is a connection there. If this means that the members are connected, I don't know, but I would say that it could be possible for this to show us who the impostors are. So blue circle for real members and black for impostors.
And lastly, I love Silent Hill, but I don't really like the comparison. I explained this to another person before, so I will just quote myself lol
“While some ideas are interesting, I don't really like the idea of the members giving into "temptation". In Silent Hill they sacrifice a really young girl and the story makes the town people out to be greedy villains, but I feel like the members aren't really that evil, at least not on purpose.
I had the theory of them killing Artemis without them knowing that it is her, because I don't think the members could do something so evil ON PURPOSE. I mean idk, but I feel like that would not fit together with them crying at the end. Why would they cry, if they did what they did on purpose.”

If this theory is true, it would also explain how hi high, so what, why not and flip that are so different and end in different ways. Is all hallucinations. Heejin flying in hi high showcase heejin trying to corrupt the cycle/system they are trying to escape, but it resets and the first XX trailer shows how hi high goes in reverse, butterfly could be a way to show how they are in some kind of limbo, and then that's why so what is so different, this time hyeju tries to burn the moon (the system) but the cycle repeats when the feather stop burning and goes in reverse too. In why not gowon tries to corrupt the system again making a tornado(?). And in flip that they try to escape with their train. Hyeju there knows something is not adding up but then the system makes her forget about it. There's a lot of things that could be connected here, it's crazy

You were right, choerry confirmed that the Births concept was based on Ms. peregrines home for peculiar children. Maybe the members on the train were making there way to there new home leaving there old world behind and haseul was probably waiting for them to arrive, seeing the five plates on the table for each member?
And on the way the to there new world they become rebirthed I'm just a theory

if you look at the mv filming vlog for birth they refer to the light being in heejins shot as "ARTMS," i feel like it might point to a connection between horn lady and light lady (like they could be same person) since horn lady shoots beast, kinda represtenting the god artemis

Like, in the past the members talked about the lore in bts videos as well, but any and every time they did BBC had to clarify afterwards that this is not confirming anything lol (So idk how much they know / how much we can trust what they say?)🤔

Woah!!!!!!! Finally theories for BIRTH, ok I don’t usually say much about theories ‘cause I feel myself do not know much about them and how to say ‘cause I’m literally and terribly at words 😁 but I will see how this goes:
- So after watched and rewatched the MV, it appears that someone or something made ARTMS being split out into 5 (aka 5 members), I can’t be sure if the 5 fetus asteroid falling from the sky are ARTMS but I think I gonna go with LOOSSEMBLE since Haseul was sitting inside the house-like cabin??? I think but I’ll go with LOOSSEMBLE (you know, they flew to Earth through a spaceship and searching for their friends 😁)
- Ok, about the ARTMS goddess shooting an blue (purple?) arrow at a deer, after your theory about this, you may be right, the goddess might use that arrow to (spread?) the virus-type infection to protect the girls maybe 🤔
- These drawing are confusing me but I may simplify some, it’s about the 5 plants kept growing into 5 different flowers which are 5 members (the reaction video confirmed it), maybe the members of ARTMS are starting to grow up into their whole new selves???? In Choerry’s scene seemed to indicate that (how come the director allowed a bone Choerry inside the ground 🥶) and somehow I don’t feel like Choerry had really met the White-glowing lady goddess (my guess)
- At Heejin and Jinsoul’s shedding tears I think they had seen something or like remembered something horrible when encountered the goddess, it might connect to the lyrics Kim Lip said (illusion and delirium, shed lights to her or their manipulated memories)

I have just remembered something, about the…Folk archenemy???? stuff that you said, I may-do have a reference but probably unrelated but still (this will spoiler so you can check for yourself if you don’t want to hear 😅), it’s an anime called Fairy Tail and there is this protagonist named Natsu Dragneel and he died during a day attacked by dragons when he was a child, his antagonist brother Zeref couldn’t forget the death of his brother so he decided to study dark arc and dark magic that are related to reviving the death and the devils and demons, this also made Natsu become an unknown demon inside as well. What do you think about it??

I do feel like the members could be studding dark arts under the light being (for example). I heard people compare the MV to Silent Hill (a video game) and in that story a town sacrifices a young girl to a demon to get something in return, so there could be something there.🤔

I think the white figure is just a general reference to magical or godly beings (since they are often shown to be made out of light).

my theory is that the figure Heejin ran into while trying to escape was Artemis herself and that this took place before Heejin created the loonaverse, I also believe the reason Heejin's expression went from defeated to almost confrontational was because she realized that she'd have to kill Artemis (their God) to be able to create the loonaverse

my theory is that Loossemble and ARTMS have heavy themes of motherhood. in Loossemble's "Sensitive" MV, Hyeju wears a shirt that says, "motherhood, the only place where you can experience heaven and hell at the same time."
i believe the white figure is some sort of mother figure or symbol there of.
birth is one of the most painful human experiences, almost like your body being ripped apart. the figure is ripped 5 ways like the 5 girls. motherhood also often speaks of self-sacrifice, the sacrifice of one's body, blood, sweat, and tears for their child or children.
i think these girls fear this mother figure and she is coming to collect her children.
i think they did fall and she found them and raised them, and convinced them they are in a heaven that is really more like hell. when they caught wise and tried to escape, she came to collect them, and in the end it looks a bit successful, as they are obediently sat before her.
Haseul appears to be in (i'll call it Eden for now) Eden for the majority, and always wears clean, fancy clothing with maintained hair and general appearance, whereas the girls who are running are disheveled and distressed, but when they are collected and brought back they are all dressed like Haseul again.
the second track being all about flowers makes me think it relates to them. now they are the "perfect flowers" the mother wanted to mold, but as you can see from the creepy pics they are imperfect and strange.
i think that Vivi is the virtual angel, and if the mirror concept is true, where there is an angel, there is surely a demon.

Well those are some really great ideas! And I mean the flower motif makes a lot of sense if you compare it to “growing children”, you know? I mean children sometimes are compared to plants, because they grow so fast and take shape, because the parents "put in the work" to make the kid/plant grow.😅
Also I really agree with your idea of there being basically two sides to the members. When there is a light angel version of them, then there needs to be a devil version of them as well! This could also fit into the different concepts of Loossemble and ARTMS. They are both 5 member groups and Loossemble had such a light happy song, while Birth was really sad and dark.🤔

do you think the scene where Jinsoul was being hypnotized by the light being is connected to the one where the deer-like creature is shot at with the bow? I noticed that the arrow was in Jinsoul's representative color and I thought they might be connected in some way
You mean Choerrys representative color? I don't know if the two scenes are connected, but it could be that the members meeting the light being is connected to the members being reborn as meteoroids. Since Choerry is associated with traveling around in the Loonaverse, this arrow could be Artemis trowing the deer into another realm. Which then could be connected to Kim lip seeing light and then falling from the sky. ^^
@@florastel I thought it was Choerry’s representative color too on my first viewing but it looked more like Jinsoul’s representative color to me on my second viewing, I’m not so sure but Choerry having a connection to the deer-like creature doesn’t make much sense with what we have seen so far

Haseul dies cos of the cake, Heejin gets killed by the LUMINOUS being, same for jinsoul, choerry dies underground (she gets reborn tho so idk) and i guess that kim lip was already dead ?
Interesting theory! In a lot of stories that are about Limbo (basically what happens to ghosts when they are not yet finished with their lives on earth and still have something to do) we see people repeat the same journey... and I mean a train can only go back and forth the same why, so this could be a really interesting detail! ^^
I feel it’s also worth mentioning that a lot of the lore seems to follow mormon (Christian cult) and aryan/ n*zi theology as well. When looking into it proceed with caution for those reasons.
The concept of star seeds / indigo children , being reborn with pale white skin and blonde hair, blonde hair as a sign of divinity / genetic superiority are all concepts within that belief system/ religion so could be useful for decoding.
Well that is definitely an interesting idea, though I believe the blond hair and unity is more so alien inspired, since the light being is as well.
I mean it may sound a little stupid, but this is such a broad story that it could be made to fit a lot of different mythologies. It would even fit Superman. A kid coming down from the sky in a pod, then he is found and raised by a family, but he is seen as divine, since he can not bleed, get cuts and he grows stronger and faster then others etc.
So I'm not saying that your wrong, but that this is definitely inspired by a broad spectrum of things. ^^

Well Loona was always connected to Greek mythology in the past (pandora's box, prometheus etc.). Even their Name "LOOΠΔ" has the greek letters Delta (Δ) and Pie (Π) in it. So I wouldn't say that this is a totally new theme for the Loonaverse.
(And also, to say that the story of ARTMS is identical to Greek mythology is a little insulting, since they are not just coping old stories and myths, but they are creating their own story. The members are no copycats.)
If you have a different theory of your own, than that is totally fine (Loona has always embraced Orbit having different interpretations of their art) and you can disagree with me as well, but I would like it if we stay polite and do not tell one another that the other is "wrong".

In LOONA's timeline we already knew that every one had their own counterpart/twins
The 1st one who killed their twins is Haseul, she killed the male version of her (Gowon/Adam) by shooting diamond to the twins
Both Heejin and Choerry always tried to assemble their members, but their counterpart/twins (Olivia Hye and Hyunjin) was always left behind by the members or lost, with Jinsoul's help, Olivia Hye also killed "the deer" (Vivi) to escape from the Eden, while Yves (the counterpart of Vivi) help almost every one in yyxy to escape from Eden
Jinsoul and Kimlip were always trapped in the underworld but in different places, while Choerry was everywhere in every world in every timeline, but her counterpart was always lost her way
But finally everyone was escaped from Eden and assemble into LOONA
Together they tried to reset the timeline several times, but in the end some of them got lost just like Hyunjin, Haseul, etc, and will assemble again (since they're in the same universe but in different parts of it) to reset the timeline

Now in the recent timeline, they finally completely reset not only the timeline but also reborn again in different universes, but the cost was they can't assemble as one again
Yves and Chuu was lost in their own timeline/world (just like in Chuu's lyrics say)

So I think, "the deer" was the representation of LOONA, since the deer was the representative of Vivi, right? The hanging head of deer was a representation that they lost the connection to communicate/assemble as LOONA, while the blood river in the night was representation that LOONA (the moon) was dead and reborn into new entities
While both "the twin ladies" were representations of Loosemble and ARTMS, "the lady with horn" was Loosemble and "the lady without horn" was ARTMS. The scattered pieces of "the ladies" were representations that they became 2 major groups with 5 members
Loosemble had "LOO" from LOONA in their names and also continued their story from Hyunjin's blurry perspective (blurred by the illusion that they have only 5 members), that's why their representative was a lady with a horn, the same horn like the deer had
While ARTMS have their own new story as a new entity with flowers as their representative. In ARTMS's perspective, they were aware about how they became separated and affected by it, that's why everyone is gloomy and frustrated in welcoming their "birth", since they knew that their birth this time was also the death of LOONA, no matter how hard Choerry tried to find her twins, it won't work anymore, Heejin can't find Heeju anymore, and Haseul can't find Gowon even tho she tried to summon her like Yves did
In Chuu's perspective, even tho she aware about the other members, but she lost her way, alone with the new journey
We don't know about Yves and her perspective yet

Like, in the past the members talked about the lore in bts videos as well, but any and every time they did BBC had to clarify afterwards that this is not confirming anything lol (So idk how much they know / how much we can trust what they say?) ^^
