Welcome to The Fate of Fantasy, a new show where I (alongside guests and sometimes just me by myself) will be discussing a genre that we all love on BookTube: fantasy. Today I am here introducing the show and explaining what is and what I hope to achieve with it. People I would like to have on the show as well as some ideas on what will be covered here.
I'm really excited about this show and I hope you guys will enjoy it. If you have any suggestions or ideas, let me know.

Nice! I love it when channels explore genre history and discuss overlooked classics.🤓🧐😎
Coming from you, that pleases me greatly to hear that.
Sounds like a plan Britton! Excited to see more in the series!
Me too man! Can’t wait to see where it goes!
Very excited to see what you come up with for this series! I've read a few books on fantasy in the last years and I'm always happy when people are willing to talk about the how, why and wherefore of the genre and go beyond just listing their favourite books or authors. So good luck with this series!
I'll give it my best shot. I'm also hoping to have people to help me, like you. :)
I fully support this Britton!
@@jeroenadmiraal8714 thanks man!
I’m pumped for this series!
Looking forward to putting out some more episodes.
"Beowulf. Beowulf. Beowulf!" Dr. Philip Chase appears in a puff of smoke.
@@gryftkin no Gryftkin! Don’t do it! He’s too powerful!
Looking forward to the discussions! Sounds like you have some interesting things planned.
Yes, and I forgot to mention you man! So sorry!
I would like to have you on too!
@@someokiedude9549 LOL, that should be fun, we'll schedule something sometime.
Best of luck with the new series, Britton!
Thanks Joe!
Dun dun duuun!
I wish I would have known you were a pathological hipster before I subscribed. Too late to back out now, I guess.
I like the concept and wouldn't mind a bit of an education on it.
Perhaps a contrarian streak is a more fitting term. But I'm glad to hear you're interested, hopefully it'll go well.
100% Fantasy can be "literary." However, I don't feel that that is a popular approach for authors, nor is it what the majority of fantasy readers want. It's apparent by the lionshare of what is released. That said, I would love to have literary depth in Fantasy. It would probably make me read more of it.
Well, my friends Philip Chase, Raf, and I talked about this topic...almost a year ago now...wow.
Exciting news! Lots of potential topics and fine guests! 🗡️🐉🧝♂️🙌
Can recommend checking out DMR Books’ (an Independent Publisher focused on forgotten and new S&S) Blog Series «The Forefathers of Sword and Sorcery» with entries about the authors that lay the groundwork for S&S, such as Jack London, H. Rider Haggard, Gustave Flaubert, Harold Lamb, Edgar Rice Borroughs and many more!
I haven't heard of them, but I'll give them a look. Thanks for pointing me this way.
Fantasy is such a varied and diverse genre. I'm often saddened when I see people who think that Tolkien invented the genre and never really look at many of the other voices and authors who have written fantasy. I hope this series can prove illuminating for many people.
