Britton's Hang Out Hour #95: ISamwise
Welcome back to Britton's Hang Out Hour and today we have a doozy. I am joined today by ISamwise, who has recently come on the BookTube scene and has quickly become a good friend of the channel. We had a great chat that covered many topics such as his experience reading Les Miserables, how it compares to the musical, his undying love for the work of Gene Wolfe, Why I love American Gods and consider it my favorite fantasy novel of all time, the work of Brent Weeks, some underrated fantasy books that Sam enjoys, Michael Moorcock's infamous essay Epic Pooh, my conversation with AP Canavan, our views about religion and faith, and so much more!

Days of Our Sooners Season 3 #12: OU vs LSU (It's Over Already?)
มุมมอง 4416 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
On another episode of Days of Our Sooners, Britton and his co-host/dad Todd lament the end of the football season as well as another loss for their beloved Sooners by the often ferocious LSU Tigers. There was a moment where they thought their beloved Sooners could pull it out, but it was cruelly snatched away. They talked about some of the other games that happened this week, both college and N...

Britton's Hang Out Hour #94: Read By Kyle

Note: If any Terry Goodkind fans watch this video, I was being slightly facetious in my tirade about Goodkind. You can like any books you want. Key word is 'slightly.' Britton's Hang Out Hour returns and today I have on Kyle from Read By Kyle. This was a conversation several months in the making because I sent him an invite, forgot about it, then remembered again and got him on. So here we are....

On this episode of Days of Our Sooners, Britton and his co-host/dad Todd are back to celebrating since their beloved Sooners beat the ever ferocious Alabama Crimson Tide, not only did they beat the Crimson Tide, they smoked 'em. Britton and Dad celebrate and wonder just how their beloved Sooners did i...

The world building behind the scenes of Elantris is detailed enough that he could have set a 10 book series there alone.
I liked The Night Angel Trilogy ;)
Yesssss! There’s a lot to love there!
I think we 3 need to get a Britton hangout hour
I approve
Here we gooooo baybeeee
Thanks for having me on Britton! What a fun conversation! Let’s do it again someday. 😉
Gratz on 500... as a fan of The Sword of Truth (the first few books... it does go on way too long :D ), I'll apply for worst enemy. ;)
Omg! Congratulations!! Why didn’t you tell me? 🥰😘
Thanks mom!
Congratulations from one Okie to another 😊
Thank you!
Excellent love advice.
Thanks!
Was this live? sorry i missed it - also, i am experiencing some trouble with my browser, so i hope you see what i am writing - that said, CONGRATULATIONS, MAN! keep up the good work! it's a pleasure to hear some of you view on books and comics, and other stuff too
Congratulations Britton! Well deserved! 🥳🥳
Thank you!
I'm doing that 25 books to read in 2025 thing and Black Leopard, Red Wolf is one I've got on that list. Nice to hear your positive thoughts on book 2.
I couldn't get into Black Leopard... , but no complaints that someone else liked it :)
Hohoho! There’s so much to be said about Marlon’s mastery in the Dark Star trilogy. Glad you loved it and ready for our chat. 😊
Indeed, we must set up a time. I hope you're doing well my friend!
nice list! The Things They Carried sounds like one I need to get to sooner than later.
@@JasonFuhrman I think you’d like it. In theory.
Awesome sauce
your voice is so nice to listen to! good for youtube. great reviews, definitely subbing :)
Thanks for the sub!
Sounds like some good reads! Glad you liked the next Marlon James book. Do you know when that third one is supposed to be coming out?
I'm not entirely sure, I haven't heard any news asides from hearsay and rumor. I heard it may come out next year. I'm not sure.
The Things They Carried is great! The Florence Pugh thirst possessed you for a sec there. 😂 I'm more of a Sydney Sweeney dude myself. 😅
This Sydney Sweeney opinion is correct
@iSamwise My man! 🙌😂
@@slay.187 when I bring her up, I find it hard to control myself. Sydney Sweeney’s really bad too.
That's a familiar shirt! 😂
Yes it is...shh, keep it on the down low.
@someokiedude9549 🤫🤫
Some good books on that list ;)
Gene Wolf has created hidden things in his series. The towers are technically towers when the book happens, but if you look deeper into it and think about it there is always something hidden within. A good series but not for everyone. Great interaction in this one though. Keep them coming.
I haven't been won over by Wolfe yet, perhaps BotNS will be the series.
@@someokiedude9549 You never know, but he is an enquired taste by sure.
Glad to have found you and I agree... tag videos are great when I have nothing else to review or do on my channel. Thankfully, there are PLENTY of tags out there for us to do! :) New subscriber!
Just an overall great episode as always! 🙌
Thanks!
Rickety Cricket!
Maybe an unpopular opinion but I did not like Hyperion
Yeah, I thought it was just fine. It didn't knock my socks off like the hype made me believe it would. The Scholar's Tale and The Priest's Tale were excellent.
My end of year has been trying to wrap up series or arcs. I'm trying to have a cleaner TBR instead of a lot of unfinished series. I'm current reading Falling into Oblivion, then I've got The Gallant that I want to get read, but other than that my goals have been met and it's all bonus content for the end of the year. I'll likely be trying to squeeze in any classic sci-fi that I can before the end of the year (since they're usually short) as I'll be reading The Curse of the Mistwraith first thing in January.
Thanks for the tag and the mention!
What an amazing bunch of answers! you did great nephew. I will do my absolute best to get to this tag but my December production calendar is looking stacked. But promise I wont forget I will do my best to get to this 1.
@@Talking_Story Take your time uncle. Glad you enjoyed it!
I really loved your picks! 😊
@@booksoffthebeatenpath Thank you!
Great answers my friend!
Thanks man!
Thank you for doing my tag. I created this tag in gratitude for the BookTube community on the occasion of my having reached 2K subscribers. I was very interested to hear your responses. Same to you and thank you for your kind comment.
@ by the way, I wanted to tell you that I discovered your channel through Dee @ThroughthepageswithDee. She’s a dear friend of mine, and she speaks very highly of you. That’s how I originally found you. 😊
Think of all of the disputes that could be avoided with babbble-fish 🤭🤪
Sorry Iissed the live. This was fun 🙌🏻
Hyperion is sci-fantasy but it's brilliant.
Umbra is just real. It's not afraid of romance the way that so many are.
I think this is very interesting and conversation since I myself write science fiction. You ask what science fiction is, but that is a wide range of topics that encompass so much. Even older authors like let's take HG Wells... He writes both uplifting things to look forward to, and he has serious warnings about the future of what humanity may do with the tools or ideas presented. War of the Worlds was a serious warning, while The Time Machine fell in between. It is interesting though because you present the idea that biological engineering is not science fiction even if it takes science to make it happen. What is the difference between a robot and a human? The mechanics of how it works, past that, one is metal, one is flesh, but both are machines... just machines built from different elements. I mean if that Robot has an AI running it, what is so different from that and a mind running a human body? Scifi has always been a mirror to reflect upon humanity as a whole in my eyes I guess. When I write I use the scifi to explore ideas or views that may not be possible in the current age. To get ideas or people to explore and escape from the mundane so they can explore things in a new light. Sorry for the rambling. Just thought you might find this interesting. Amazing talk here. Keep up the great work and if I can do anything to help out please let me know. By the way, the floating head is 'Max Headroom'. It was a cyberpunk program leading a bunch of rebels.
AHHHHHH It a magical Okie sighting AND a wild E L!!
Over consumption without consideration is the problem. We are wasteful in pursuit of the dollar.
Joshua Dalzell, Jonathan Maberry, Craig Alanson, Alfred Bester, Cat Rambo, Nicholas Sansbury Smith soooooo much good scifi 😛
E.L. you skipped Edgar Rice Burroughs!
Blade Runner is totally dystopian. Kipple, off worlders, massive class separation, pollution...
MAX HEADROOM!!
Titan A.E. too 🤓❤️
I dunno the streets still smell pretty bad 😳
