Just as an addition to this video, and to clarify what people below have said, you can remove the metal bracket which limits access to the filter, quite easily. I have made a video of how to do it in case people need help with it: th-cam.com/video/KTkBkqfo0SI/w-d-xo.html
thanks for posting this - for some reason it thought it was spam and only when i was looking at the video today did i see your comment waiting approval !
10 years later and this guide helped me as a mechanic to perform the filter change! I did it on a LHD Evoque but the only difference really is the car is mirrored, simply put. So the filter is on the right. Would like to say thank you for a very detailed and informative video :)
@@L663 Bro that's mad! Yeah time flies... it's got huge wings and it ain't landing any time soon. Cool to hear you still have the car :) Hope you're doing well.
Wow. That pollen filter took some doing today. I got it done. Lesson I learnt was.....Buy the charoal filter as it’s much more rigid than paper one. it’s easier to fit in as it doesn’t fold. The paper Filter is very flimsy. I’m hoping to buy the carbon filter next year. Cheers for you guide.
Just did mine today, changing a routine maintenance item like a pollen filter should not be this much hassle. The filter was super tough to get back in, even after removing the metal mounting bracket which holds some plugs and also serves as the mounting bracket for the plastic clips on the plastic trim piece we remove
Thanks for the video. Info for left side drive (US) Remove the bracket (held in place by one 10mm bolt) that is shown at 7:40-7:44 so much easier to remove and install filter. Thanks again
Very helpful, and confirmed 2 things to me. 1) the so called designer that placed the filter there with almost zero access can only be special needs, 2) given the inaccessibility, and I have owned my car from new until now, 10 years old, main dealer serviced, and clearly this filter has 'never' been replaced at a service, it was caked thick, and not a mark on it from installation, so clearly went in as a new easily accessible item on first assembly,
Very good video which made replacement look easy. After a possible broken back, hands ripped to shreds and a new vocabulary of swarewords some new to the english language ending with rover. I replaced the air filter eventually. Three points I would like to add. 1: The cable you tied back. I found it easier with most of my body almosy at the back of the dash to disconnect the two plugs which obstruct inserting the filter a grey and black plug. It was just as easy to connect them. I tucked the tails behind something to keep them out of the way. 2: I could not pull out the old filter, how much does it cost to add a short pull tab of material? In the end I used an O'ring hook to catch the inner edge of the filter to pull out enough to use my fingers. 3: At first I was afraid of compressing and bending the filter. You will find you have to. But don't go mad. It appears to be designed to tollerate compression & bending. Starting to insert the filter is the hardest because of the bend and sharp edges. Once inserted pressing to compress the filter ripples closer together will make it slide in with relative easy and seat. Mine had a lip of material which bent back. So I just pushed it inside. Reassembly took a couple of minutes. I think it will be a long time before I consider another replacement. I may be worth considering doing with any work on the CJB which if removed with other work would make access easier. Who ever came up with this design was some masochist.
Things I found out. LR service put the filter counter airflow (!), they managed to brake 2 out of 3 pegs of the filter cap. And I hate the dude who designed the location of the filter :). But in the end, thanks to you guys, I managed to replace it myself (also the engine filter). I hope the airflow is from the front to the back of the car (MY2016 cabin filter).
It doesn’t cut the odor down from anything from inside the car, it only filters outside air unless you’re using circulate. Most of the time if you’re a smoking this won’t help at all
My mechanic accidentally unhooked the little battery terminal and the car threw a gearbox malfunction. Turned out that the battery powered the cylindrical gear knob 🤣
Just wait till you need to replace the resistor that controls the cabin air fan. 3k plus at the dealer. Everything from the windshield to the center consol comes out. I did my own for the cost of the part.

Awesome video, I like how you detailed how all the clips work (something missing in many videos). Thanks so much !!

would you be able to have a video on how to replace a blower resistor on 2013 range rover evoque?
The point breaking the white plastic bits is the key, helps a lot !👍👍
Forgot, thanks for thevideo! Was wanting to know its location.

Does anyone have the correct part number needed for the upgraded filter? I need to change mine as the air is starting to smell funky.
Thanks
The genuine part number from Land Rover is LR056138
Thanks heaps powerfulukltd :)

Me estoy arrepintiendo de haber comprado mi evoque, cosa más complicada y dada a averías, en mi vida vi.
And that friends, is why I only own Toyotas.
Много болтаешь, а так спасибо! ;-)
Stuff that ,,,,,,, I’ll pay someone!!!!
Man breaded !
Problem is that you pay the garage to do it and they do not... because your just a rich don and wont ever check on their work !
A bloody pain in the ass!
