Palisades Center Mall 2021 Update - Carousel Removed!

  • The Palisades Center Mall is a four-floor shopping and entertainment complex in West Nyack, New York. Opened in 1998, this mall features full size restaurants, entertainment venues, amusements, and over 200 stores. It was even a frequent filming location for the show Impractical Jokes. In today's video, I take you on a tour to see how the mall is rebounding from the struggles of 2020 and the Covid-19 pandemic. I sadly find that the carousel has been removed.

I was born and raised in Rockland County. I spent a lot of time hanging out at the Palisades Mall back in the day. I moved out of New York over 15 years ago and haven't been back since. It's sad to see a lot of places I hung out at close down.

Not to be the bearer of bad news, I'd hardly call it a comeback. This mall hasn't been consistent or great since like 2018. Only stores and restaurants they've opened since that were any good were/are Beef Jerky outlet, Pepper Palace, Blu Ale House, Great American Cookie and the shaved ice place

Speaking of arcades, Round 1 is definitely one of my favorites. A lot of their games and prizes are imported from Japan. It's worth a visit if you're around PA or NY, plus they're usually an anchor tenant in malls.

Aw man. I remember the carousel so clearly because one of the times where I went here (back when it was called the Palisades Mall) was when I was 6 years old on a first grade class field trip to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the AMC theater over there in late 2005. I remember how exciting the day was-we got on the bus and then traveled over there and ate in the food court. I saw the carousel in the food court and marveled at it-wanting to ride that thing so bad. Of course, we weren’t there for the carousel, and this wasn’t the mall that my family often frequented (that was the Westchester mall in white plains). But of course, the thing I most remember is of the movie theater experience itself-which I remember surprisingly somewhat vividly for someone that young. I remember the gigantic banner for the next Harry Potter movie above us (it may or may not have been Goblet of Fire), the concessions stand, what I got for snacks (a small popcorn, a chocolate covered Graham cracker candy bar, and a small sprite), and the IMAX presentation for watching the movie. I’m not sure which trailers played, but…yeah.

My wife and I used to hang out at this mall 20 years ago go to Dave & Buster’s or one of the other restaurants up top. A friend of mine used to run the store on the top floor called back stage (or something like that) it was the only cool store on the top floor so he used to stay open late like the restaurants and sell expensive rock ‘n’ roll type gear then he started doing tattoos etc. I would go often and then since my son was born 10 years ago, I think we went twice ,actually I just drove buy the back of it this July as they had a firework tent sent up in the back of the mall. It’s so much property back there to park I’m and it’s always empty.
