Ep#6: What did Britain & Soviet Union do in the Interwar Years to Prepare for World War 2?

Britain and the Soviet Union had very different interwar years after the end of the first world war. Britain, at the end of World War 1, was sitting at the top of the largest empire of the world. Indeed, the British empire in 1919 was unmatched in terms of its territorial size. But, its financial strength had diminished greatly owing to the losses of the first world war.
The Soviet Union was a different story. After they withdrew from the first world war following a revolution in 1917, Vladimir Lenin led the country for a few years before his death in 1924. After him, Joseph Stalin became the leader of the country and assumed total command of the government and military in the following years. In 1936, Stalin supported the Popular Front in Spain during the Spanish civil war against the support of Hitler and Mussolini to Franco Francesco. Societ Union also signed the Nazi Soviet non-aggression pact in 1939 in which they pledged to not attack each other if a conflict arises in Europe. However, that pact was broken when Hitler launched an offensive campaign against the Soviet Union in 1941.

If Britain declared war upon Soviet union? Then not only British empire but there would be no existence of Britain today. British people knew that so they didn't declare any war against Soviet Union because the combined forces of Soviet Union and Hitler would have turned Britain into rubble without atomic bomb.

Britain initially had the appeasement policy towards Germany. Britain was active with France . After fall of France it was assuming that Britain might fell but they were still strong enough but had the manpower and resources spread across the globe but once re armed they faught with their Commonwealth allies with Germany even before USA and USSR came into war even much army weapons and equipment's were left during Dunkirk evacuation.
So in my opinion if France was not there there should not be much difference.

Switzerland was German ally.
Switzerland was the most cunning country throughout the war , before the war Hitler wanted a country that he can trust so that it would help them finance in every activity specially hiding the looted gold and diamond from other countries and he cannot hide it in Germany for obvious reasons.
So Hitler basically have deal with Switzerland if he invade them the whole gold and resources would be lost forever.
Also Switzerland had alpes mountain, hitler didn't have any will to conquer them simply because he was half hearted.
But he had plan once war with rest end
