  • So this is one of three new "wrecked " cars we received. I was going to start with the durango, but Tim had his eyes on seeing the element run first. So here we go!

My mom had a 2003 Element. It was dead reliable and super practical but it was also underpowered, uncomfortable, and it didn't drive that nice. My brother totaled it though and it did it's job. No one was hurt.

They use that engine in a lot of different models, my '02 CR-V has it. It's been very reliable. Currently has 130k on it.

I'm a service writer at Hendrick Honda in Charlotte. I've probably written that car up before for oil changes and such. Sad to see one of those meet such a untimely death. We get those cars coming in with 200,000 - 300,000 miles all of the time.

The DRL light just means the daytime running lights are on. My '07 Subaru Legacy had an indicator like that, also yellow, which made it look like a warning light in that car too.

that's not how hondas works the drl light only comes on when it thinks a lights burnt, normally with hondas the high-beam light will glow very dimly for drl, go away for normal beam then comes on full bright for the full beam lights, i think its a quirk of the drls actually doing double duty as the high beam lights, that's how my 09 civic and my partners 07 element do it

Biggest POS? Lol, you are nuts. These cars are highly desired, sought after, and getting harder to find; which explains the high resale value. You probably bought the Honda Element for all the wrong reasons, that is why you did not like it.

I totaled my 2005 Element a couple months ago in an accident I didn’t think all that bad. It was a fuel hog but otherwise I miss it a lot. Must admit that the rear doors were a bit of a pain, if distinctive. No carpeting - no car should have carpeting, though.

The step father of a former friend bought an orange one brand new back in '05. I hated it! I think their ugly, slow, inefficient, unrefined, and horribly uncomfortable (5 minutes in it and my back and ass were sore). His step father drove me home from their house and asked me what I thought of it so being nice I told him I thought it was okay. Of course my former friend had a big mouth and blurts out "He hates it!". I so wanted to kick his ass. The one thing I will say is they had a ridiculous amount of cargo room they're great if you plan on carrying stuff that will get it dirty since you can simply take a hose to the interior. The funny thing was when these came out for the 2003 model year they were marketed towards young, hip, and active people. The majority were purchased by elderly people.
