    Your videos have come a long way, certainly more comfortable and conversational. I placed a 1x4 EZTee hybrid insert in the same putting green you have which sits on foam exercise mats and love the results. Hitting mat and putting mat are level. Allowing me leftys and rightys to hit. I cant imagine my turf Matt wearing out due to putts. Thanks again for the tee review ordering 3 sets to save on shipping.

    @TheGolfNerd I sent you and email asking a few questions. Most recent email was why did you choose the SimTurf brand of turf and hitting mat over the Bullseye turf and hitting mat. Plan to do the exact same set up as you and place my order this week but would like your imput before doing so. Thanks. Like a popster below said, you have certainly become far more comfortable in front of the camera. Nice reviews. They have helped me a lot for planning my sim. A question though. If I buy a 1*4 strip, can it be rolled up to be put in a suitcase?

    • @TheGolfNerd
      @TheGolfNerd  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’ll have some short term memory if you roll it up so be prepared for it to take awhile for it to flatten out. Of course if you leave it rolled up for too long, you may have trouble getting it to lay flat again. Not really sure how long you could safely do this! Thanks for the feedback! It’s becoming more natural for me as well, but I appreciate the nice comment!

    After having mine for a few months I noticed a green powder on my clubs I don't know if that's an indicator of the mat wearing or it getting pollen on it. But I did get some elbow soreness in my right elbow as well. That's likely more to my hitting the mat really fat as I am just getting back into golf, but unless you are using a fiber built bristle mat you will likely exprience soreness with any mat if you hit a bunch of fat shots. Overall I'd buy it again for it's size and affordability.

    Thanks for the video! What size mat did you go for? I’m trying to decide between 4x6 or 5x5… 4x6 being cheaper but I wonder if the 5x5 will allow me to rotate the whole mat 4 times and get more longevity?

    • @TheGolfNerd
      @TheGolfNerd  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I went with 4x6 really just cause the initial cost was lower. One thing to keep in mind, wherever you are standing will compress the turf and will affect how the mat performs, so just keep that in mind when figuring out what to go with. Great video! Thank you for sharing!!
    I just purchased the EZ Tee Hybrid 4x6 hitting turf for my in progress golf simulator project. I have been playing golf for many years, but have zero experience in simulator construction. The simulator is going in a room with dense carpet and thick carpet pad. I was thinking the turf maybe will need a firm layer between the carpet and the turf; but not sure. Do you think it would be a good idea to attach the turf to a 1/4 or 1/8 inch plywood sheet?
    Any suggestions are sincerely appreciated!!

    Thank you for the review. I am currently using a FB grass series and eventually replaced the hitting strip with the Holy Grail. I am pretty happy with the feel of the FB stance mat and the club interaction of the Holy Grail. But soon, I will have to change that when I start to finish my sim. One of the things that I will be doing is to complete the entire floor area. I am looking at the NP50 for my 14' x 14' area and a EZ Tee Hybrid 4' x 6'. Because my walkout basement only has a 9' 1" raw height and the floor gets cold during winter months here in Canada, I intend to put 3/4" dri-core sub floor underneath the NP50. And because evey inch taken away from net height is valuable to me (having a low ceiling), I was thinking of not having a subfloor underneath the EZ Tee Hybrid. I was wondering if you put any padding or subfloors underneath yours and if it was directly over your cement floor. If you did, how was the feel?

    • @TheGolfNerd
      @TheGolfNerd  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the question! Sounds like you’ve got a really nice build underway!! My EZ Tee hybrid hitting strip is sitting directly on the concrete without issue. The feel is good and I haven’t had any joint pain. Given your subfloor of 3/4” and the height of the NP50, I would expect the hitting strip to stand around 1/4” proud of the putting turf. Mine does too, it’s not a huge heap, but I wanted to at least let you know. Thanks again for reaching out!!!

      @@TheGolfNerd I hope so (fingers crossed). I've spent countless hours reading forums, FB Groups and watching TH-cam so I am taking the build slowly but surely. It ain't cheap and I want to avoid major changes in the future as much as possible. It's good to know that EZ Tee Hybrid can just sit directly on the concrete without issue. With the NP50 + dri-core, it will be taller by 1/8"-1/4" than the EZ Tee. With the NP45+dri-core, it will be at level to 1/8" taller. The NP50 is just slightly more money at CAD$0.50/sq. ft. which is not much. Thank you again for your response. Keep coming those helpful reviews!

    Great information, thanks. I am looking for a new mat. You have commented on the noise related to walking or standing on some mats and the softness. My local rec center just installed a fabulous Full Swing studio(lucky I know), and the turn is very odd. It "squirms" as you swing, almost like the ground is moving. Does the EZ Tee mat have that feel? Is the EZ tee insert a good option with a stand mat, like maybe Monster?

    • @TheGolfNerd
      @TheGolfNerd  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the feedback and I’m glad you’re getting some value out of the videos! I personally think the monster mat is a better stance mat than the Ez tee hybrid, but it is a bit of personal preference. The feeling you mentioned on the local full swing sim is probably similar to the Ez tee as a stance mat. It’s a quality product, but maybe just a little too soft for standing on. That’s why I ended up just cutting in a strip. Please let me know if I can help further and thanks again for the question!!

  • @sailee9674
    @sailee9674 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have read that the Eztee mat is a bit soft as a standing mat. Did you find that an indentation formed? I have a Monster Mat, and thinking of making a cutout in it and insert an Eztee. Do you that that would work? Would the heights line up?

    • @TheGolfNerd
      @TheGolfNerd  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The EZ Tee is a little soft to stand on. For this very reason, I just cut in a hitting strip as the putting turf is a much firmer surface. I’m not sure you will see a significant difference in the firmness of the EZ Tee vs the monster mat, but you can certainly cut in a hitting strip and I think you’ll enjoy the feel and performance of the EZ Tee. You’ll probably need to secure it with some two sided carpet tape, so keep that in mind. I highly recommend simturf.com for your EZ Tee purchase. Just let them know what dimensions you need and I’m sure they can accommodate your needs. Thanks for reaching out!! Please consider subscribing to the channel if you haven’t already done so!

      Hard to decide between the ez tee hybrid vs the Maga mat. Like the idea of the 4x6 hybrid for my Skytrac. How heavy is the ez tee? The Maga mat weighs in at 47 lbs per the SimTurf rep. Maga is 2” in thickness also. I also like the idea of standing on 1 mat.(less movement) I’m basically trying to avoid wrist and elbow injuries

      @@josb4161 I haven’t tested the mega mat so I can’t give you any feedback on that product. I will say that the marketing director for simturf, who’s a former teaching pro, uses the Ez tee as well. I personally have a had good experience in terms of joint pain, and in the past I’ve been very susceptible to the issue. I also wouldn’t want to mess around with a 2” thick mat as it falls pretty firmly outside the typical 1 - 1 1/4” thickness. If you stay with an average thickness, you have more flexibility in the future to try different products. Thanks for the feedback!!

    I want to build a sim where the turf is attached to the wall/floor only where it meets the screen, and then the turf can be ROLLED OUT flat for play. Basically to get it out of the way, it would stay rolled up next to the screen when not in use. I'm guessing the hitting mat would just have to be set back on top OR set back in the hole if cutting in a strip instead. But would it be possible to do this with the turf you have? Or have you seen this done elsewhere with a turf that works to roll up?

    Any info on expected longevity and how it would hold up outdoors?

      One of the guys I referenced in the video at SimTurf has used his outdoors for several years and hasn’t worn it out yet. So life should be really good. It is sold as a tee line product, so outdoor usage is fine. Thanks for the question!!

      @@TheGolfNerd Thanks I ordered the 4x6 today. Wonder what delivery times are like? I haven't even gotten an email from them that they received my order yet.

      One thing I didnt realize is that this mat does not have any kind of rubber underlayment on it. I called and was tempted to switch my order to their mega mat but Chris assured me this was the best turf they offered. Said no foam underlayment was necessary for joint comfort. I plan on it being a patio mat not an indoor sim mat so hopefully it works well.

      @@jonathanmorton7476 I would think it should work well, however my newest video highlights a product that does provide what you were referring to.
