  • I review, breakdown and explain Fallout Amazon Prime Video. I discuss the opening scene to episode 1 and react to the importance and deeper meaning of it. I analyze Cooper's mind and how it connected to the ending of season 1 where he was The Ghoul and his resentment towards Vault Tec. I also compare the hidden easter eggs, the game and give my theories and predictions on season 2.

I think the scene worked so well because everyone knew what was coming so there's this looming feeling of dread. Also I don't think Coop was doing the parties for a paycheck - he was bound to be loaded from all the films and commercials, I think it was to distract families from the political tensions especially since at this point he knew what Vault-Tec planned to do

One of the small details that really got me was Janey asking, "Is it your thumb, or mine?"
At first, it seems like a straight-forward question from a scared little girl to her daddy. However, upon further thought, you realize it shows us a bit about Janey as a person, too.
It shows that in a tiny space of time, she absorbed and thought over what her dad told her about the importance of this simple gesture. It also shows she is a very clever little thing, as she has the presence of mind to realize, "Wait. . .Daddy is bigger than me, so what if the information only applies if you have grown up hands?" Granted, she didn't have the vocabulary to ask it that way, but it still made her ask the important question.

Did you notice right before picking up Jeannie after the blast, Cooper isn't wearing his cowboy hat, and when he's running through the lawn he's holding Jeannie's hat (his first instinct was to grab Jeannie and everything on her), before putting it on so his hands were free to get Jeannie on the horse. There's even emphasis on the moment he gets on the horse to give us a good view of the hat. And then, as the Ghoul, the hat looks a little too small on him. It's Jeannie's hat.

      @AdrianFahrenheitTepes หลายเดือนก่อน +6

The show did a better job of showing the bomb than Fallout 4, which rushed everything in a few minutes when it could have done it in parts like Fallout 3. We could have had multiple parts with Nathan interacting with Nora and Shaun over different parts of weeks or months, then maybe end with the nuke destroying Boston and entering the Vault around Shaun’s first birthday. It all happening in minutes in the opening of Fallout 4 made the opening prologue of Fallout 4 somewhat rushed and lame. I feel like it would make the hit of how Nate lost Nora a more significant plot point. Or vice versa with Nora losing Nate.

Since you mention it, one of the few complaints I’ve seen is that there’s too much slow-motion during the action scenes. But I’m pretty sure that’s a deliberate creative choice meant to reference the V.A.T.S. mechanic in the more recent games. 🙂

It also is a mechanism to show people who didn’t play the games what life was like before and what happened (including his wife and Vault-tech involvement). Then also the threads of what happened to his daughter. All that isn’t filler. The attention to detail (regarding game iconography) and, I have no idea how many, Easter Eggs there are, is excellent. The plot is outstanding and the script and actors excellent. It is not heavy on special effects as clever camera-work and directing substitutes. The violence can be a bit graphic (don't use the splatter settings when I play) but all in all not detracting... Also, no spoilers, but I think his story was very well done because even though we didn't get the resolution to certain questions by the end of the series it still felt complete. Indeed, I didn't even notice the hanging threads until I'd slept on it.

I watched the whole season overnight, and I love it! They toned the darker side a bit, to please all audiences I suppose (gamers and nons), and they still managed to do a stellar job. The actors are well casted, the decors are just wow, the costumes too (awards incoming). They even used some of the in-game music, as well as the 50s classics used in the game.
I just wish they'd pick one "hero" (the Ghould would be my choice) and take us along his/her journey. The constant back and forth between the vault, Lucy, the Ghoul, and BoS / Maximus, had my head spinning. I binged the whole thing. Honestly surprised, Amazon seems to have learned from their mistakes with Rings of Power and handling popular IPs. Each lead is great, and while Norm I don't think is considered a lead and you might not like him at first but his later scenes and growth is just as interesting as the others and he's a lead in my book. There are some slog parts, vault 4 sequence was plot wise pointless and seems just for a joke. The only thing that could be considered a reason for that sequence is the dual overseer asks Lucy what was her Vaults experiment, she replies "what do you mean it's just a normal vault." And she gets called naive for it and her character doesn't seem to pick up that all Vaults are indeed experiments. Granted hers being less obvious and more just a front for frozen vault-tec executives to become overseers when the time comes. Max losing his mind and acting so stupid after eating good food and wearing a robe a slippers was really annoying. He almost seems stoned and loses his whole personality over it. Doesn't care or listen to Lucy's concerns about vault 4, it was just too out of character for him. I see what they were trying to do, showcase how bad Max has had it while also showing him why and how Lucy is the way she is. But just over the top in his reactions to vault life. But I am fully invested in this now. I want to know how Ghoul(Coop) wound up a ghoul. I think it's too obvious that he just didn't make it to a vault. His wife being who she was they definitely got a cryo vault which why in the end he asks where is his family, he knows they're alive or frozen. I need to go back and pause when Norm is looking at the cryo list, His wife brought up the idea of Vault 33 (3 vaults connected, 1 being cryo unit) so his family could be or is in Lucy's home vault. So was he removed/unfrozen from the vault he was in early on or earlier than his family, or they just didn't let him in because they found out about the bug, I think his wife knows it was him. Last we see of pre bomb him is when he's running with his daughter in hand to a vault but an unknown amount of time has passed and he's divorced, I think miss ex wife took him off the list, daughter goes in with her mom already there and then he gets the bad news. Lucy kills it as the doe eyed Alice in wonderland. Speaking of that actresses eyes steal the scene every time. She has good albeit slow growth into the distrust and violence needed to survive while still being herself by using safe swear words while having to do gross/violent things. I was hoping she would lose the vault suit for some wasteland clothing and armor. They kinda tease you with this when she starts sporting a leather chest piece but it's removed by the next episode and even in the final shot when she comes out of the tomb she's still in the vault suit. I thought they would make her behave like most players and get gear and armor as she progresses. A few hiccups (in my opinion) but absolutely recommend this to any fan of Fallout. This has to be a weird watch if you never heard of Fallout lol.

As a fan of the games there are lil things that stick out to me like evertime maximus is called a squire when he's not, squires are children training to be soldiers, but outside of small lil lore things I loved the show overall, the first episode rly felt like I was playing fallout for the first time, ad the atmosphere in the opening scene is so good. I personally think that the ghoul was betrayed by his ex wife and was left outside to die, that or valt tec but she works for vault tec so that kind of goes hand in hand. The scene where the ghoul is asked to take a picture and refuses to do the thumps up, the two dads call Howard a pinko under their breaths, pinko is a derogatory term to refer to someone on the far left political spectrum, which implies that Howard kept going to the meetings or was outed for the one meeting and spying on his wife

One thing you didn't dwell on that I thought was *very * effective is the shot composition - most of the shots in that scene are framed to draw the viewer's gaze to the skyline, ramping up the tension in the viewer who knows what is coming but doesn't know when exactly it is going to happen, so they're watching the actors but also watching the background for the bomb to finally end the uneasy waiting.

Simply well made and well written. Good actors and special effects.
It had some comedy that didn't undercut the serious moments (like Marvel does). They were able to combine the over-the-top weirdness of the Fallout universe with a plot you actually start to care about.

I liked it but there were a couple plot holes that probably won't get answered in season 2.
like how did nobody notice that hank had left the vault to go after lucy and rose? people should have known the doors had been opened in the past between rose and hank both leaving. among other things, Moldaver is dead and the questions only she had answers to can only be revealed through flashbacks now. Also, why would Barb let her daughter be with Coop when she probably knows exactly when the bombs are being dropped? Her whole thing was about protecting her daughter, you would think she would be super protective of her and probably already have her in a vault before hand.

I came downstairs to find the family watching (Ep 3?) and "I don't want to set the world on fire". I nearly lost it.

I had the fortune of watching the first two episodes in a theater at an advanced screening, and let me tell you, this opening on the big screen send absolutely horrified chills down my spine at every bomb drop. What a way to hook in an audience.

Believe it or not my favorites parts in the tv show was the pre war scenes, I remeber when I first played fallout 3, I used to pass by all the rusting pre war cars and wondered what kind world existed before the fallout

One thing I hate is that shady sands was nuked into bits, BoS being a prominent power again, which we all know in the games that the NCR is a powerhouse in the Cali region

Well since maxis has reunited the brotherhood and took it over they are returning to their roots the brotherhood aren’t what the Washington brotherhood used to be they are tech preserving fanatic cults that are wary of outsiders and really aren’t good

@@Callsign_Neuro But the BOS are basically one of the villains with the ncr being seen as the good guys and even getting the epic main theme upon showing the flag.

At least their presence was less than that of Washington DC where groups of Knights are deployed on the Mall, as well as walking throughout the rest of the ruins purging Super Mutants.
Also, nice to hear the FO3 theme in there as well, great contrast.

Well tbh, you’d rather have the BoS battle it out against the Enclave cuz it was the Enclave that manhandled NCR at Shady Sands

If you're close enough to be affected by the pressure wave, you're close enough to be blinded by the flash and to receive third degree burns. Of course, that would have been a bit too gruesome to show on TV, so they had to tone things down a bit.

What the got completely wrong is the physics of the explosions. The shockwave is air pushed away by the sudden expansion caused by the tremendous heat of the explosion, and it comes instantly after the flash. The mushroom cloud forms later, when the air of the shockwave comes back
