In the episode where BB was introduced, they talked about how a crew of 5 destroyed a whole country and just after that Luffy says " Do you know that people from snowy countries never sleep?"
And in the scene where BB says " Pirate's dreams never die " he is sitting there alone while on the opposite side there are NAMI, Zoro and Luffy "3 people" . The frame makes it look like a scale and it's balanced perfectly.
I think it has some connection to the 3 goddesses of the moon.
“ These three figures are often described as the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone, each of which symbolizes both a separate stage in the female life cycle and a phase of the Moon, and often rules one of the realms of heavens, earth, and underworld.”
He ate a third fruit; a mythic zoan of a Hito Hito no Mi based on a moon god/goddess (just as Luffy ate the zoan Sun god fruit) and now he’s divided into three aspects of heaven (the innocent one ), earth (the mature, intelligent one) and the underworld (the malevolent, cruel one)
Earth is connected to white beards Gura-Gura no Mi devil fruit with earthquakes and the underworld is connected to the Yami Yami no Mi darkness fruit meaning there could be room for one more associated with heaven.
Also explains why in his child portrait he’s drawn sitting under the moon.

I was thinking the same thing, actually. The concept that no one has really contrasted Blackbeard against Luffy's new sun abilities can only be attributed to anime-only watchers and those reading the manga who are more invested in Wano itself than the story as a whole. I bet that Imu has the Umi-Umi no mi and can control the oceans at this point.

It's probably a genetic thing. I can usually get by on only about 2-4 hours of sleep a day and function just fine, and the same can be said of both my brother and mother.

I haven't seen it mentioned yet, but on Drum Island, in Ch 134, Luffy says to Sanji that people who live in Snow Countries don't sleep, and that if they ever do they'll die. Then he says he heard about that in a tavern on his home island from someone. Coincidentally, Blackbeard had just invaded Drum Island not long before the crew arrived. It'd be such a random thing to bring up and never mention again unless it was important. Seems so outta place in that moment tbh

I feel like the dark dark fruit has the inherent ability to absorb other powers and thats why blackbeard wanted it so bad. He might not be physically eating the fruits but absorbing its ability and characteristics into himself
That’s what I was thinking too.
I think devil fruits actually have a devil that possesses its user and if you eat another fruit the devils fight and the user dies. The sea doesn’t like the devils and stuns them. Blackbeards devil is the strongest or most influential and so the others submit to it.

Honestly I think the Yami Yami no mi is a special fruit, perhaps when blackbeard covered whitebeard's body, it wasn't in anyway to hide his special ritual or anything. But let no trace of light get inside, and while I'm unsure about other theories of blackbeard being 3 people or A kraken fruit. But really I think he's still alive because he himself didn't eat the fruit, but his actual fruit ate it. Similar to the whole black hole concept. Consuming everything
My theory is that he's an escaped experiment, because the WG was experimenting on children and people like Arber with natural special abilities and Judge has been trying to replicate DF abilities, so Teach may be a "failed" experiment
Edit: i just remembered that MADS was experimenting on altering the lineage factor long before the WG, so he may have been there

i think Vegapunk created a Cerberus dragon devil fruit and teach ate it as a kid. Shanks scar was given to him by BB. I think the escaped experiment is the most likely outcome.

@@HiHi-eo8cr yeah but we dont know Vegapunk's age but we can speculate he's probably in his 50's at minimum. Also, he and Judge, and possibly Queen, were part of MADS which studied the lineage factor, the reason why DF give powers in the 1st place before he worked for them so he could be one of their escaped experiments
I would absolutely love if Cavendish was just a clever method of introducing Blackbeard's multiple people in one body thing. It would be a total Oda thing to do.

I love the thought of there being three Blackbeards hinted at through inconsistent teeth patterns, but aside from your idea of Oda drawing BB’s teeth as such to add character, it’s also worth noting that there is actually an in universe explanation for regrowing teeth. Simply drink milk YOHOHOHOHOHO

Feel like he is definitely a Squid, octopus, or kraken. And the 3 hearts allow him 3 personalities. Also the Dark dark fruit is obviously a mistake, and it would be Ink instead of course. Since luffys fruit was misrepresented this whole time, it's not hard to believe Blackbeard has something similar going on
I have the head cannon that Blackbeard secretly ate a devil fruit: a dog dog fruit: Cerberus model, the three headed, three stomached dog that guards hades. That would give three minds for the pirate, the never-ending vigilance, and would allow him the two extra fruit. It also means he has a perfect combo of paramecia, logia, and zoan abilities, which to me has its own poetic pull to it. This also would limit him to 3 devil fruit total, which makes his calculation to take only Whitebeard's fruit as his next one make more sense.

This is my favorite one also, but them think that orochi didn't have different personalities and had several more heads. How I justify myself is that even if his head was cut, it grows again due to that fruit and the mythological creature the hydra, so maybe that's why they don't have individual personality each, whereas cerberus doesn't have that mythological power. Also in thriller bark each head had their own personality, so I'm like 80% confidence that's the reason
A detail I never caught until my most recent manga reread is Luffy mentioning that people in snow countries never sleep because if they did, they’d die. Obviously not true because Drum Island’s citizens sleep, but it is interesting that that’s mentioned on Drum Island after the Blackbeard pirates recently attacked. And he also mentions he heard it from someone at the pub of his hometown. Maybe a certain sniper’s father told him after hearing about Blackbeard from his captain? It has the whole “Usopp’s lies becoming real” vibe surrounding it.
It's easier that Shanks himself told luffy about that story.
We know teeth regrow when people drink milk. We also know Black Beard can take an insane amount of damage. My theory is that black beard is just losing his teething on a regular basis.
Even then it was only shown on devil fruit users, since there was suprise shock from other characters when the teeth grow back.

I think it's just that he literally isn't human. Marco mentioned that his ability to eat two df's is related to his "unique body." And he would be the one to know as the crew physician. So maybe he's an octopus fishman, calling back to those kraken devil fruit theories. Or maybe he's part of that third lost race of big mom's that we still don't know about

We might as well think Oda chose to draw his teeth each time differently solely because pirates, real historical ones, used to lose teeth very often. And they also used to buy or craft them to let someone implant them again, so I wouldn't be surprised if Blackbeard's teeth worked as some sort of silly wound just like Luffy losing his teeth and healing them with milk after fighting with Sanji.
Still, Blackbeard's missing teeth aren't portrayed as a gag or a joke, I think it would be extremely helpful if someone in the sbs asked Oda an apparently genuine question like "who's the dentist who always fixes Blackbeard's teeth?" Oda has never pretended or given false answers in the sbs, he might just skip the question or maybe solve our problem
1.) Luffy once talked about how those who live in snowy places die by falling asleep during Chopper's arc.
2.) In drinking milk, teeth seems to grow automatically as show by brook and Luffy
if you use 2 properly, it's toon force. Notice how Nami (just like Sakura) is able to hurt these planetary level characters by a punch to the head. It's comedic. It's a joke.
Cerberus don't sleep, their head sleeps in turns. All these could be explained if blackbeard ate the cerberus fruit

@@DefiledDame technically we don't know that. I believe he ate the mythical Joan dog-dog fruit: Mythical Type, Cerberus which would give him the ability to transform into Cerberus, as well as consume two more devil fruits. That explains the power and his non sleep ability.

I always believed that Blackbeard can't sleep because he has the disease from a winter island. There was mention of such a disease at one point, and that panel where Blackbeard isn't sleeping under the moon makes no sense if there's supposed to be three of them. Unless the 3 Blackbeard thing really means three personalities...

My theory for multiple devil fruits relates to the Yami-Yami’s absorption ability, maybe he stuffed someone into his darkness and brought them out under the cover of the blanket. Forced them to eat Whitebeard’s devil fruit, then Blackbeard using the power is just forcing the consumed person to use it.
Interesting theory
The three personality thing makes even more sense when you realize the personalities match with the different parts of the Freudian model of the mind.
The evil, ambitious side is the id. It's primal and selfish part of the mind. It is motivated solely by ensuring survival and fulfilling it's desires.
The smart side is the ego. The logical part of the mind, balances out the desires of the other two for the betterment of the whole.
The remaining, "good" side, the one that viewed Whitebeard as a father, is the super-ego. The sense of morality and empathy that is largely determined by one's upbringing.
I dont want to dissapoint you but Freud theories and most of his views have been debunked today Freud did more harm than good with his theories he was just the first that started seeing this subject from a professional perspective thats why he became so famous!

Obviously the reason why black beard cant sleep is because he went to the dentist. There something went wrong during his operation and now not only does he have ptsd that keeps him awake but also a lot of teeth missing.

Ok, so, let’s assume hypothetically that this theory is correct and Teach’s condition can satisfy a devil fruit’a strict monogamy requirements. And that Blackbeard has one more personality left. Could it possible, then, that one of his personalities can still swim, if it doesn’t already have a devil fruit?

Only a hypothetical theory, but my theory is that he was an experimented child someone who was engineered to be able to hold multiple devil fruits by having multiple people inside of his brain, like a form of multiple personality but at a larger scale, most importantly that his second personality is the devil, that being the devil from his fruit that takes control of him and forces him to act in such bizarre and unpredictable ways, it possibly commanding teach to take the devil fruit power of whitebeard, this transfer of fruits gives him another personality or incentive. I have no facts to back this up but I think it'd be cool.

I somewhat agree with the multiple personality theory but on another level. I believe that there are only 2 personalities in black beard(that we have seen). The idiot, carefree Marshal D. Teach that the whitebeard pirates called family and another twisted, evil personality. I believe that other personality is actually the spirit of Rocks D. Xebec possessing Teach's body. That might give an explanation to why he doesn't sleep as well as why he can eat 2 devil fruits, because he has 2 people inside of him essentially. Remember Shanks also noted this during the war, he changed the way he called him from Teach to Blackbeard. Maybe Teach can take back control of his body for short durations or when Xebec lets him. Like When he was about to be killed by whitebeard or whenever he talked to Luffy about dreams. Both Luffy and Zoro noticed back in Mock town that there was something up with him. Maybe they noticed the change in the way Teach spoke both in Mock town and even in Impel Down right before Luffy was going to leave, Teach talked about dreams again.
Lets go back to when Blackbeard got whitebeards devil fruit. Why did they cover whitebeard and blackbeard with a black sheet? Somehting to do with the Yami Yami no mi? Or just because they don't want people to find out their method? Im going with the latter. What if, now bare with me on this, Blackbeard ate a piece of whitebeard like his heart or something. This was confirmed to be a possible method to transfer devil fruits because of big mom but the only people that know about this method would have been Streusen and the Giant that saw(maybe the giants of Elbaf as well if he spread what he saw that day). But Big Mom was also apart of Rocks so it might be possible that Xebec somehow found out about it and used the method when he corned whitebeard.
Honestly, I find it strange that Oda has put so much emphasis on a character that died years before the story began. We don't even know what Xebec looks like or anything like that so why is a character that is supposed to be dead surrounded in so much mystery yet he feels like a main antagonist? Another thing, why are there all these connections between Blackbeard and Xebec, at least from what im seeing? The evil pirate nature, The crew comprised of very dangerous people that don't really trust each other. Xebecs dream was to rule the world and, correct me if im wrong but i dont remember Blackbeard saying anything about finding the one piece or being the pirate king, he seems to have a goal similar to Xebec. They even went after the revolutionary army, which would be a group who would oppose Xebecs dream. Also, now this may be a little tin foil hat kinda talk, but if you google Xebec you will find that it was a ship. A ship with a main characteristic of having 3 main sails. Maybe that's a little out there and I'm crazy but there seems to be a handful of connections between these characters.
Either way, I hope the mystery surrounding Blackbeard will be revealed soon. This character has been built up since early One Piece and it just seems to be getting bigger and bigger as time goes on.
I dont think Xebec is dead, garp only said that he mysteriously disappeared if im correct. Thats only my take though, i dont think him being alive would be a good idea to the story because that would be another top tier villain to introduce to the final arcs and i dont think it would fit that well. Apart from that i really liked your theory and i'm looking forward to it, even if it turns out another way i need to congratulate you because you made some really good points
As far as the teeth go, remember teeth can regenerate if one drinks milk. So maybe his teeth just keep regenerating and falling out because he only eats cherry pies

But in all seriousness it's probably due to him having some sort of zoan. This probably also explains why Luffy can grow his teeth back since zoans are apparently the best healers.

This makes sense why in one scene in the anime, (a scene I don't know if it is included in the manga) when ace was asking if he could take down kaido teach was saying how he knows the feeling of chasing big fish to get prestige and fame. Something I didn't expect him to say as a crewmember of wb pirates since y'know, he *didn't* have any drive, he had 0 bounty stayed low and when trying to get the shichibukai position he didn't aim big, he aimed *just enough* with luffy's 100 mil bounty. But idk maybe this is a stretch
what if luffy defeats blackbeard by liberating him from his “darkness”? If the three teaches exist in one body, and he can bring the “cherry pie” lover to the surface for good? I feel like that would be a cool direction
While watching this video I made a connection in my head that while I don't think is the key to the whole "What is Blackbeard" theory, it is a funny coincidence. I remembered while watching this video that Oda is a wrestling fan and has tossed a few references to popular wrestlers into the story of one piece. Mainly Whitebeard having some inspiration from Hulk Hogan and Spandam wearing a mask very similar to the wrestler Mankind. This combined with the theory that Blackbeard is 3 personalities within the same body made me think of "The Three Faces of Foley". A beloved wrestler by the name of Mick Foley had 3 prominent characters he played within WWE around the late 90s to early 2000s which went on to become the three faces of Foley. Dude Love, a dancing fun-loving hippy, Mankind, a sadistic unhinged masochist, and Cactus Jack, probably closest to the actual Mick Foley, Cactus Jack was an incredibly resilient hardcore wrestler without much of a gimmick. Like I said I don't think this affects much in the theory but I thought the coincidence was fun and I'd share it for the people who don't have an interest in both One Piece and Wrestling.
Edit: I just remembered another fun connection, both Blackbeard and Mick Foley are missing teeth.

Honestly, wouldn't surprise me if Mick Foley was a big part of the design inspiration for Blackbeard either, as he has the same curly hair and overall build as Blackbeard. In fact, if Oda were to draw Mick Foley in his own style, he'd probably resemble Blackbeard a lot, just with lighter hair.
I love the theory that he already has 3 fruits, and one of them is the octopus mythical zoan fruit model: kraken. Octopuses have 3 hearts and never sleep. I theorize that DFs have something to do with your heart, which is why he can have 3 fruits. I also think the way BB has been stealing fruits is by cutting out their hearts and making the person who wants the fruit eat it. By that logic, he reached into the hole in WB's chest and pulled out his heart under that black sheet.

An octopus can't be the only creature that doesn't sleep, it's just the only thing that I know that has 3 hearts. Hell, maybe it has to do with how many stomachs you have, and him winding up having a legendary cow cow fruit that gives him 4 stomachs, lol.

I think Blackbeard has Chimerism. Which is when you have two fertilized eggs and the 2 eggs fuse becoming one but has 2 DNA strands. That is probably how hes able to eat 2 devil fruits. Also a side effect of chimerism is a bloated stomach and pain we know Blackbeard is always drawn with this over bloated stomach and he always acts like it hurts 2x when he gets hit in the stomach... just my thought on this whole Blackbeard scenario... keep up the vids, they are highly enjoyable. Blackbeard not sleeping may just be one of those character quirk things, although it's not that common in one piece, it does exist. Maybe like greenbull not having eaten in three years qualifies as well. Oda did go out of his way to mention it but there are examples of this happening many times which amount to the fan base reading too deeply into it. But I sure hope I'm wrong coz it'll make things a lot more interesting
Nah if Oda might make gags sometimes but he never crossed the line, BB not sleeping ever and green bull not eating anything are no normal things, there must be some reason behind it

This also explains why Blackbeard never sleeps. Sleep requires the mind to shut off. But in Blackbeard's case, as soon as one mind is tired enough to sleep, another one takes over. I think the no sleep thing is just oda alluding that Blackbeard cant dream, so it contradicts his speech about dreams. It's a antithesis of Luffy as much as possible. Also him having a weird body was only said by marco that one time right? after blackbeard ate the darkness fruit, so the fruit probably is a myhtical zoan type (since it doesnt have the traits of a logia despite being one). so the reason why BB wanted it so much was that it's property to steal other fruits. nothing more than that. him having multiple personalities seems like a stretch since it's not that explored on by Oda. BB is just written to be a unpredictable and interesting villain.

You know, this theory makes me think that there was more to Thatch than we knew as well. Because if memory serves, both Teach and Thatch were other names the real life Blackbeard was known by, either because he used them as aliases or because some of the historical records aren't accurate. So that makes me wonder if it was more than just a reference to the real life version that one Blackbeard alias killed another in order to gain his power in this story. Like, maybe Thatch is some kind of body thief who can jump to other bodies using his devil fruit, and take his existing fruit powers with him, which resets the fact that he can't eat another devil fruit, and then he can consume another one once he's in a new body, meaning that he actually has a third unseen devil fruit that we haven't seen yet. Like, imagine this sequence of events: an unknown person eats a Devil Fruit that allows them to steal bodies, they use it to enter Thatch, and once he finds the Yami Yami no Mi, he eats it as Thatch, but knows that he needs three fruits to accomplish his end goal (whatever it is) so he jumps to Teach's body, kills Thatch because he would know what his plans are now that he's free, and then is free to eat another fruit now that he's in Teach's body. Love the theory, ive thought for a while that BB could have 2 personalities as i thought he could have been present in god valley as an infant and had the personality of rocks implanted into him by the previous user of the op op no mi. As a result i always thought that BB had both his own personality he grew up with and that of xebec, allowing 2 DFs, but now in hindsight, oda could also write it that a third personality was born out of the madness of having xebecs and teachs original personality in conflict within him.

We see how Vegapunk can extract powers with blood or something. Maybe Blackbeard did just that, and it was never actually his devil's fruit power's doing. Or his power made it easier to do. And why he can do that, in spite of people only being capable of having 1 devil fruit at a time, is because he has multiple "people"/personalities in him so every person in him can get one. I think how many devil's fruits he can absorb is how many people in him there are. So there is a limit. I doubt there are only 3 personalities in him. It's probably more, but how many, I don't know. Probably like 7 but I will be more sure when we know when he can't take any more devil's fruit because there isn't another person who can take that power. That's why he looks for specific powerful devil's fruit. When you think about it, if it was really his devil's fruit, then why would there be a limit. You know the moon doesn't sleep, people tend to forget this aspect of the moon and it is so telling of how society perceives the moon to be representative of the night but that's not the only thing the moon is- The moon is calendar, mirror and magnet. She (Cuz it's a She) can be seen during the day as well, it's the original measurement of a month's time and she has 2 sides a known and an unknown just like the past and the future,

So we perceive the Sun to be the only life giving, it is vibrant life force, while the moon is connected to the sea, the moon has a magnetism that pulls the tides and the tides then create the wind.
In esoteric meanings the sea and the moon represent the hidden realm of the emotions and the imagination so a subtler dimension the word Lunatic comes from these meanings
The wind created are the thoughts alone, (maybe the tides day and wind correlate to whitebeard's fruit)

One theory I really like is that the Yami-Yami is the same case as the Gum-Gum: a Mythical Zoan that was wiped from the history books. Namely, the Nika-Nika: Model Davy Jones. Hear me out here.
In the first place, I was always confused by his fruit's very unique attributes. A tangible Logia that actually multiplies the damage he receives, the ability to cancel out DF abilities, its "drag you into the abyss" nature, plus the inconsistency that he knew the power of the fruit yet didn't wipe out anyone else on the WB crew nor the Moby Dick itself when he easily could have done so the moment he took a bite.
Davy Jones has already been established as a Canon legendary figure within the world already, via the Davy Back Fights that started on the island he now calls home. In the first place, BB having Davy's will within him implies that he's also constantly exposed to the essence of the sea. This gives explanation to his DF cancelation through direct contact, but what about himself? Logias are obviously prone to Sea Prism Stone, but it oddly forces them into a state of limited use rather than complete nerf (I.e. Caesar being cuffed but still keeping his gas coat). We also see in Udon Prison that DF users can develop resistance to the effects of SPS if exposed for long periods of time. In BB's case, I assume it's the same except from within him. This gives context to why he can emit and manipulate a natural phenomenon as Logias do, but is always tangible and takes more damage than he should - he's always in a state of physical nerf. It would also explain him not being able to cause serious damage aboard the Moby Dick right away, he had to give himself time to adjust to the fruit's self-destructive drawback.
Another well-known quality of Davy is that he was a vicious pirate that died and now haunts the deep sea. A dead man has no need for sleep, but this still offers no explanation as to why BB never slept as a child. I won't delve into that, but if Zoans have a will of their own then it's not much of a stretch to say that Davy would favor a malicious freak of nature like BB. So how did he manage to gain two DF powers? I see two plausible explanations. First is the one everybody knows: the Yami-Yami can cancel itself out and allow for multiple fruits to be present. Second is a bit more out there: the Yami-Yami is essential to the process, but it's limited to one of each class of DFs (Logia, Paramythia, Zoan). Granted, this can't be confirmed until he eats a third fruit (both whether the Yami-Yami is actually a Logia and whether the limit exists).
In any case, if we change the lens from "darkness can trap everything, even light" to "the sea will reclaim everything, even life itself," I feel like we get a more clear picture with context as to how BB can have all these qualities.

So basically there's a hot head personality, an evil genius personality, and a dumb person personality in teacher, and it is the evil genius guy pulling strings, always able to get away with things. Like when White Beard penned down Black Beard and was about to kill him, the dumb person personality was the one talking, the hot head one was the one fighting, and the evil genius was the one "navigating" the whole situation. I get it. But this also would suggest Oda is really good at giving characters multiple personality, as we are finding out Luffy may in fact have more than one personality all along.
Rewatching onepiece and got to ep 147 and at 9:40 zoro and luffy refer to blackbeard as they instead of he, like nami did. After blackbeard is saying how much he loves the drinks today, when the episode before he was hating them.
I've had this suspicion for a long time, but Blackbeard might have DID, the same condition Marc Spector aka Moon Knight has. This could explain his ability to weild multiple DFs and his contradictory personalities.

I have to say i am not the greatest fan of Liam diving into the "one piece theorys"-world he belittled for such a long time. Whats more he does exactly what he always critized those theories for: make a bunch of comparisons and then state it as facts, while it is just conjecture. He does acknowledge that at the end of his videos, but i always enjoyed his critical approach more

I always thought blackbeard learned some secret about devil fruit no one else knew and that allowed him multiple abilities. I believe when we next see him blackbeard will have gained the knowledge/power to transfer the devil fruit abilities to others instead of taking them himself, setting up his crew with all the best devil fruits.

I beleive black bread already has eaten 3 fruits one the yami yami, white bread's fruit and the fruit which made them 3 or atleast not physically. Okay, this may just be because I've seen too many arg summary videos, but what if Blackbeard's missing teeth are a form of code? Like, for how many teeth he's missing in a panel, that gives you a number that you use along woth all the other numbers from other panels, and you have to figure out what letter each number correlates to, in order to figure out the message?
The changing teeth thing I'd presume is to highlight the shifting personalities of Black Beard. Even though there are only 3 BB, the inconsistency might be simply so demonstrate the inconsistency in the nature of the pirate himself. But i do agree that he's 3 distinct personalities as opposed to 3 different people. The reason why 3 different people doesn't make sense is because where would he have hidden them BEFORE he ate the yami yami no mi? Yet, they were there before he ate it.
The changing teeth I take to be an indicator of his Devil fruit powers in some way, or at least an indication that there’s more to them than we’ve been let on. In chapter 858 pg 12 Luffy and Brook drink milk and it instantly grows back the teeth they lost in a fight, causing one of Beges men to exclaim “how the heck do your bodies even work?!”
My current thinking is that Luffys Devil fruit powers empowered the regenerative effect of the milk drinking because it’s such a cartoonish caricature of the real world (possibly spurious) link to milk with healthy bones and teeth. Further, the gangsters exclamation draws is reminiscent of the comments made about Blackbeards abnormal body functions.

The three skulls represent the 3 people who constitute Marshal D. Teach. The 8 crossbones tips are Oda's foreshadowing for Blackbeard's Next Devil Fruit: Hebi Hebi no Mi, Model: Yamata no Orochi. Each tip indicates the head of the Orochi.
Blackbeard attacked Drum to get the power of the Baku Baku no Mi, he wanted to get the power of Wapol. He attacked the Kingdom of Drum when he was getting used to the powers of the Yami Yami no Mi, he already knew he could “split up”, but he wasn't sure if he would be able to "gather together" again. While he was still inexperienced with using his Devil Fruit no Mi, he wanted to have a guarantee and would give the Wapol's power to one of his own crew so he could " gather " again.
The mechanismof of Blackbeard body is similar of mister 3 body changing, but there are 3 people and they swap parts. This give a margin to explain Blackbeard's teeth changing all the time. He can combine the 3 sets of teeth (bottom) with the 3 sets of teeth (top) in different ways. Eating a second Devil Fruit is fatal, regardless of whether the body is considered "strange". If it were a matter of body resistance, for sure, Big Mom, Kaido and Whitebeard could handle eating a second fruit.

If Blackbeard really was Identical Triplets who all shared the same body, then it could be that the reason he doesn't sleep is because they all take shifts.
