Hi Andy, great video! planning to take on the project myself for a 2019 eGolf (w/ Discover Media). I have a few quick questions.. Do you find the quality of the camera up to the standards of "OEM"/original? or do you think the OE camera from VW will be better quality? Regarding the wiring of this version (highline), there is no need to tap into the reverse light because of the canbus connection, right? My understanding is that there are just 2 canbus wire, 2 video wire, and a 12v power to connect at the back of the MIB unit. (Is there a ground as well?) Any tips on how to pick up the 12v power from the red wire without damaging the original wiring? Thanks!
Hi, The camera looks as good from a visual compare with a friend. You are correct with highline there is no feed from the light. The ground is taken from the car wiring you plug into in order to open the tailgate. The brown and purple connector shown in the video. You can take it put it into the fuse board but this is hard or use a fuse "piggy back"
@@andygardner3177 Thanks so much Andy, fuse "piggy back" sounds great! I guess for us UK cars we just run the wire on the left side and we can access radio and fuse box without wiring going through the middle?
Are you trying to use a piggy back/fly wire device or fitting the fuse way in? I have a 7.5AMP fuse in. I think i picked this size based on the factory wiring diagram so it's the same size as if car came with the camera.
Hi Andy, great video. Helped me a lot! Thank you for this. Just wanted to ask if you managed to make the video on coding and calibration? Would really love to do it myself. I have a vagcom
Great video! The most I have installed so far is the Dashcam, front and back, with connection to the fuse board. How hard is it to install the rear view cam? what tools do I need?
The connection to the back of the fuse board is a nightmare it’s really tight and you need to pull the purple retainers out of the back of the fuse board. I used a piggy back fly wire fuse thing. Tools wise it’s trim tools, trox bits, a socket for the rear seat and tape. I also used a bit of strong wire to help with pulling the cables. I taped the cable to the wire then pushed it thru.
@@andygardner3177 Hey Andy, thanks so much for your help. I fully agree with your approach. I saw some other videos but I don't know why they pull out the screen as well. It should be enough to get out the mib unit in the glove compartment. I sent you a Instagram connection request BTW 😊

Hi Andy, great video. I purchased the same highline RVC from Heycar and fitted it to my NAR 2016 Golf-R with an (earlier retrofitted) MIB2 Discover Pro. I've coded things to what you've posted, and am 99% certain that I have the wiring correct for the KA2/highline (disconnected the right back-up light signal and routed the trigger wire from the camera to the badge-flipper, etc.). My issue is that the badge and camera won't flip open. I can see on the display that the camera is working and the lines are tracking the steering angle and the view modes properly appear. Could you please post the complete long coding strings that you are using for the RVC, 6C and Parking Aid, 76 (or 10)? Might be related: when I code my 6C with VCDS, the values for bytes 3 and 4 are 0 and the drop-downs don't list any model/variant data, so I need to type the hexadecimal values in. Thanks in advance. (By the way, I have heard that ODIS simply will not allow the calibration routine to complete on a Golf because the VIN will always mis-match and the Golf was never equipped with the KA2/highline camera. However, the values supposedly can be copied in using VCP so you can get rid of the "not calibrated" DTC.)
Do you have a blue wire going to the rear light? That works differently to the one I have and how the official VW one does. Some also just work on gyro not taking canbus data at all. Are you after low line or highline coding ?
@@andygardner3177 I disconnected and capped off the blue/black wire from the camera that works its way back to T73a/64 on J519 (and the right backup light, etc. - my rt backup still works) and have everything wired for the KA2 highline, so I am looking for the R189/5GG 827 469 F highline coding and the Park-Assist module coding, too, just to make sure because one of the DTCs I get is: "U1121 00 [009] - Missing Message [message Parkhilfe_01 not received]". So my analysis is that either 6C is not getting the "Open the door" signal because of wrong Hex10/76 coding, or its misinterpreting the signal because of incorrect Hex6C coding. The thing is that we all know that the highline camera relies on CANbus to open the badge, but do we know which module is responsible for sending the command? And, by the way, the US Arteon and Atlas that I've checked both have 5F coded for "BAP VPS msg bus" set for Infotainment Bus, not Comfort Bus, which seems to be the generally accepted channel, so go figure.
