This song will stand the test of time. It's magical.
And it's about his mum dying, which makes the bridge so much more powerful
@@angelabowers8221 omg I didn't know that...my sister loved this song and she died 22 years ago....everytime I listen to this song I think of her. It's really emotional. I wanna make a video of this song with pictures of my sister...
This is one of those songs, like Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls, that will just NEVER stop being amazing. Love you, Train!
I also always think of these two songs together for some reason.
Exactly. Both songs are timeless.
@@ForeverMasterless cause of the era
🙈❣😎😗😇😘❣
Trains a much better band though 😉
No matter what genre of music you like, this is one of those songs that you cant help but love. A great tribute and truly a masterpiece
I've listened to this song a million times while I rode my bike, drove in my car, and sat and thought...I love Train
In 2020, I was aboard the USS Eisenhower for the longest at sea deployment in the history of the Navy. 216 days with no land because the ports were closed due to COVID. Train did a virtual Zoom concert just for our ship and gave us some encouraging words. I'll never forget it. All of those guys, class acts.
Tell me, did you fall from a shooting star, one without a permanent scar....
(My favorite lyric in this Utterly Brilliant..song).
Absolutely love Train, especially Pat, he's so talented and handsome. But let's all raise a glass to Charlie Colin, the bass player that just recently died. Rip
May he rest in peace
my mom and me sing this when she was dieing cancer.....miss you mom
fitting the song is about his mom after she died from cancer.
I'm so sorry. I don't know why this comment almost made me cry. RIP I bet she was amazing!
Tamir Cohen Because you are human and have empathy and sympathy, and you can relate because we all have a mother.
aww thanks sure she is
David Watkins sung*
This song still gives me goosebumps after all these years
One of my top 5 all time favorites. 🙌🏼
What is the 4 other songs?
His voice is fabulous
Timeless classic so full of soul and
emotion. Just love the start where the camera pans onto Pats face and he smiles and his eyes light up. As if this is the song that means so much and he'll never tire of singing it.
Oh my god... I missed this song so much.
All the members of Train are great musicians and Monahan's voice is unique.....Scott Underwoods drums tie it all together.....its his backbeat.....crystal clear.....
I tried listening to some covers of this song, they just don't have the passion. You can feel his emotion every time he sings it, from the studio version to the live versions. And it's no surprise when the subject is your mother who passed away, that's hard to match in a cover!
His eyes are even sparkling at the end, such a beautiful song
Taylor Swift's cover is pretty good.
th-cam.com/video/m2BeVcGcuoE/w-d-xo.html :) tell me what you think about this cover. it always blows me away
He wrote it about his mum who passed away.
@@jefffriedmann1482 not really.
@@bman6414 S*** I didn't know that...my sister died at age 40 and this song reminds me of her..we used to drive around with this song blasting... She died 22 years ago. 😭
Serious talent and a great live performance. Great , great band.
Im more into harder music, but this guy is amazing!
I can't belive how good he sounds! Amazing ...
One of my favourite songs of all time!
Seriously BEST LYRICS EVER!
When they wrote this song they had to look around at each and think - holy shit ! This song will be played for 100 years and still be relevant . One of the greatest pop/rock whatever you want to call it songs of all time ❤
Absolutely Awesome! Billboard probably won't even like it or list it. Rock On.
this guy is good. ppl who hate this band is just jealous
I can't belive how good he sounds! Amazing ...
yeah, he's a grammy winner...
Still sounds good after all these years. Not an easy song.
Every once in a while, a song is produced that captures, and stays.
That Jason Bateman sure is one multi talented dude !!!
Underrated comment lol
HAHA
I see Jesse Waters
Hahahaha
Saw on the Belgian news website Charlie Colin died in Brussels, in the home of friends. I have to admit I didn't know the band, grew curious, as he died at the age I have reached recently. It's definetely not bad, certainly worth while exploring somewhat more. Sad news for his fans I'm afraid....
It’s very difficult to dance and sing at the same time. Regardless, you hit it out of the park!
And in leather pants. He's a class act.
There is something really unique about this one! I can’t imagine all the work you must have put into it. As another musician, I can say that your music touch something that most don’t these days. Keep up the fantastic work! ❤️ 🏆💓💔💚💔
Amo esa canción.
This touch my soul on so many levels ...
I really love this song... the ethereal lyrics, pounding keyboards, kickin' drums, and soarin' strings ... Their other big hit, "Soul Sister" is also a great song... 'Too bad they didn't have more hits... they have a unique sound... very catchy and memorable.
Drive By, Save Me San Francisco, 50 Ways to Say Goodbye, they had more hits. And don't forget they still do a bunch of shows, they're amazing live they actually sell out pretty quick
Noah Frye if its love is another good one worth mentioning
But they remembered not as 50 ways to say goodbye. They will be remembered with Hey soul sister only and added Drive by for my generation.
Wow I can't believe this doesn't have more views....this was nice.
A song for friends...May they always be remembered. And never forgotten...
Lyrical masterpiece! Pat monahan has an incredible voice! Watching 2021. Timeless song!!
2023. He's got fantastic vocals. He's been doing some acting in the past few years. Not a bad actor. ❤
we need more of this nowadays
this song will always be a classic
I swore that this was gonna win best song when it came out. Was real disappointed when it didn't. Love this song even after all these years
Wow. A Band that sounds really good live.
What amazes me is how enthusiastic he seems..... I think he is happy his mother is in a better place. If I was him I would be crying lol
Wonderful live performance. Wish I was there.
Train is underrated!!!
this man. can sing live. good for him.
This song puts me in a good mood
makes me cry and think about my sister.. I really miss her.
Once again an decent band with a fantastic singer.
This song is magical every time I listen to it....

Amanda Reece
Believe it I never knew that this song was inspired by the death of Pat Monahan's mom until today and so searched for a live performance. It makes this so impactful and sitting here with watery eyes.
Saw TRAIN live last year! Pat and the band put on a GREAT show!!! I highly recommend it if you get the chance!!!
Thank you so much 💓
And it's a song about how wonderful his mother is. Kudos

WAY, WAY BETTER Audience than their "If It's Love" Letterman appearance!
Never was a huge train fan. But I admit Pat's voice soars.
Magical song. :)
Still listening to aww e music he really is an awes musician. Seen him in concert twice. Very awes musician
I hear this and I think of you Denise. I love you but I hate you a bit for taking the easy way out of this vale of tears but I forgive you too cuz I know you felt just like me. RIP
Saw them live with Maroon 5 on free tickets..this was Train"s encore..thought Train were WAY better...
DROPS OF JUPITER!!
I didn't back then and still don't get how on earth he's bending margin in the rythm of this song. Being a drummer myself I can honestly say that if I would have to sing this I would be lost in the first couple of bars. Slightly disburbing at times but amazing!
What do you mean bending margin?
I am in tears. Thank you thank you thank you from the women who have been abused. Thank you from the women who are trying to find themselves again.
People can choose to find personal meaning in songs that were intended as something else. That's the magic of music.
BEST SONG EVER
I want to see them live!
great live performance :)
The year was 2010 I was in Philly just walking and this awes singer was blasting from the speakers Been to his concert s few time s. Enjoy music please and thanks ! Namaste love and light and this was for Ryan S Be awww keep writing songs and yes my friend says you resemble Pat 🤷♀️lol
Great song, great melody, great group, mega drummer👏👏 and the singer is Robin Williams' brother (same voice)
Damn he sounds so good live. Hard to tell the difference from studio and this.
One of their BEST!
my favorite song ever! :)
