It was obvious to me as an engineer that this would be the fate of every industry, every machine in Russia within days of the invasion when the sanctions were imposed and 1200+ global corporations that built and maintained Russia's industrial infrastructure left never to return. They lost hundreds of billions of dollars. Russia doesn't have the parts, the technical expertise, or the money to sustain an industrial economy. Each machine in each industry requires specialized maintenance and repair. Therefore Russia was doomed almost from the moment the first Russian soldier crossed the Ukrainian border on February 24, 2022. When trains and trucks can no longer bring enough food to the cities, there will food riots, famines, anarchy, crime waves, epidemics. The entire nation is condemned to die. Those who remained in Russia supported the regime and the war. Don't feel sorry for them, they are guilty of aiding and abetting the heinous crimes against the world.

They have their own aircraft companies, it's just that their aviation industry was heavily dependent on American companies. They do have the ability to produce all Russian aircraft but Russians companies are behind the mark on producing modern fuel efficient engines and high tech electronics for avionics. See: MC 21, Sukoi Superjet, and the old Soviet dinosaur IL-96 (still in use be Cuba and North Korean airlines)

Have you seen Sergei, and his "VASYA IN THE HAY" TH-cam channel? He crowd-funds money to buy winter firewood for widows in the outlying villages. Or he will help get housing for a 20 year old with Cerebral Palsy, because the evil aunt is stealing the state disability money off the debit card every month. Returning to the 1800s? Except for some electricity, many villages (and houses) have changed little since the tsars.

People said Soviet airliners like the Tu-154 were deathtraps, but that wasn’t because of the planes themselves (some of which were quite well designed and engineered) but poor maintenance and airport/runway conditions. Some things never change.
On its current path Russian aviation will end up like Iranian aviation, a retirement home for old Western planes long out of service in the rest of the world. One Iranian airline was flying the Boeing *707* until fairly recently.

Cannibalizing one plane to keep others flying is only going to work for a little while. Machines used in similar ways in similar conditions tend to fail the same way, so instead of one plane being stripped for parts, you'll end up with a dozen almost complete planes but for the one part that keeps failing.

The old man not only had to work to compensate for his low pension, but also had to still get help from his son! And you know that Putin and all the government won't take any blame for all the deaths those crashes (when they happen). The document sounded like the repair and maintenance people don't even have to see if anything is even falling off the plane. Just fill them up, fly them around, land and repeat over and over again without even a visual inspection until they fall out of the sky. And, that won't take too much longer!

That might be the way it really is in Moscow, but most of Russia is far more impoverished than Moscow. Like it's pretty safe to be a tourist in Puerto Vallarta, but far more dangerous to be a tourist in Mexico City.

There is a large parts recycle network that operates way outside of manufactures recommendations. Together with it, are large numbers of cut down shafts, adapted and redimentioned bearings, including automotive ball bearings, fake clutches, counterfeit or washed filters, out of date rubber parts, and some components that were rejected in inspections. Russia can easily dive into garbage parts and find good components hopelessly mixed up with sand blasted hot section turbines washed and pickled in a barrel. You wind up with a sewer plane and a lot of failures. Add this to a hard headed culture of rip offs and your airline will turn into a circus.

In aircraft many things time out. That means after an amount of time or cycles it must be replaced. Aircraft engines time out so when that time comes you must change the engine no matter what. Send it in for overhauling.

The EU should honestly consider new, broad strategic based regulations (plus fee-generating surcharges) for enhanced safety purposes, on the hundreds of daily private owned & operated (non-state) airlines and charter airlines, etc., that are not headquartered in RF, but which cross (exploit) EU airspace from points outside of EU, to points of primary destination in RF and vice-versa. Turkish Airlines could be an exception to some extent, on most of such new regulations, being the main airlines of a non-EU member state of NATO.
