If the situation is as you explained, then file an official written complaint with the Sri Lankan Airlines head office in Colombo and the Sri Lankan embassy in Pakistan and IATA. You will get compensation.

The desk agent who didnt let you board seemed to have some grudge against you, otherwise you dont need to have return ticket from same airline or PNR. You can have different PNR as far as you have a valid booking (PNR).
Most check-in agents are not well-versed and too intimidated by company policies or their bosses. Technically, if you are not denied entry, the airline may be asked to deport you or even pay some fine which is why they are skeptical. You could have asked him to show you the rule or give you it in writing or on video or just ask an immigration officer.
I have experienced a few hiccups before..like while going to Turkey from Dubai on Saudi Airlines with an e-visa and the boarding agent thought it wasn't allowed on a Pakistani passport. It is normally not allowed unless you have a Schengen/UK/US visa which I did, but that may have confused her but it got sorted out once she called her superior and checked on IATA website. The same happened on arrival at Istanbul where another lady had to confirm with her superior prior to letting me in. In both cases, they did not bother me but confirmed by their superiors which was the right thing to do. Another incident I recall is at Geneva airport where the gate agent thought I needed a UK transit visa while flying to the US and wouldn't allow me in. I told him that there is an exception if the onward flight is to the US but he wasn't sure. So, I searched the UK immigration website and showed him proof which he later confirmed with his superior and let me go.
Since this issue is something people living in Pakistan come across, I would also suggest doing your homework and keeping an official requirement link handy that you can show to the agent or directly call the airline there and then.

You are right but that not airline rules, it's actually your passport. Pakistani passpot is 4th from bottom, hence holder is treated accordingly.
I never faced any issues only due to the fact I normally dont travel on Pakistani passport.

You should have booked ticket immediately since you can never win an argument with immigration officer and argument simply goes against your favour. Pakistani passport brings its own travel challenges.

No one will ask you for return ticket ,,,this bull shit is only in Pakistan.
I entered in Thailand, Cambodia ,Vietnam ,Indonesia and Malaysia without return ticket.

@@sktravellingg I think it depends on the immigration officer. I traveled to Malaysia 2 weeks back from Dubai with an e-visa. They did not bother me much but did ask for a return/onward ticket. A friend who lives in Malaysia said there have been multiple instances where the person was deported because they didn't have an exact hotel booking for all days or did not carry enough cash on them. Such cases are rare but if the immigration officer doubts your intentions, then they will do a full check and deport you in case anything is missing.

The USA doesn't give 10-year visas to Pakistanis irrespective of where you're applying from. Only a 5-year visa. Your chances of getting a visa from Dubai may be slightly better but it depends on how strong your documents, how legitimate your reason is, are and what kind of job you have.

Please please book with Thai airways with return of at least 20 or 25 days and go with the multiple thai 🇹🇭 visa and if don’t have visa then change your visa in Thailand 🇹🇭 and then go to other countries and after all you finish your trip just go back to Thailand and take that return flight to Pakistan
