    Built in 7/1986, this is by far the oldest rollover i've recorded. These washes were truly designed with simplicity in mind.
    If you look closely, the left rear wash arm isn't contouring to the car properly- and it doesn't 100% retract after a cycle. This could most likely be blamed on a failing air cylinder. We purchased three washes, and had to manually retract it each time so we could pull into the bay.
    I'm really not sure how this place is still washing cars, especially since the worn filament scratched carwashnews' headlights. I'd say with a little TLC, you could totally bring this wash back to life.
    A unique part of this wash is the original 'Desert Dry' driers. They have a neat sound to them. I believe this is probably one of the last ones in operation.
    The Ultimate Wash ('Best For Clear Coat Finishes') Included:
    -Undercarriage
    -Velvet Touch Wash
    -Hot Wax (brushes keep spinning to 'buff' product)
    -Rinse
    -'Super Dry'

    Here in Tampa, Florida, there used to be an Amoco gas station on the corner of Fowler Avenue and Nebraska Avenue. It was a full-service station, and it had an automatic car wash. The brushes in the car wash were red and white, but it only had two bottom brushes instead of four. But, it did contain two pinwheel brushes.

      @mpollux2  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It did a decent job, i'm surprised the 32 year old dryer could actually perform so well. It did do some damage such as marring on the headlights and light swirling from the worn filament.

    I'm not trying to offend you, but sticking your hand in what appeared to be hard bristles (1:20) was risky. I did the exact same thing before we upgraded systems at my wash and it cut my hand pretty good. Great video stay safe.

    • @mpollux2
      @mpollux2  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Aside from causing damage to plastic headlights (happened at this wash actually. I see where you're coming from) Ryko's filament brushes are fairly gentle. Hanna Car Wash Co. actually had an ad where they ran a bathing suit model on top of a Porsche through their equipment because they "wanted to emphasize that their soft durable bristles are safe for cars with the most exquisite finish".

      These machines originate from the company's foundings in 1973. It's laughably shitty and spartan in contrast to modern machines, the design of the rear brushes was probably only done because Ryko couldn't figure out how to make large wash arms or something. Whatever the reason, they don't clean much of anything, and no one would want to buy that.

      @@adelaideautowashes your wrong. That was just the technology back in the 70's. I went through an old RYKO that had Pinwheel brushes, and the car came out looking brand new on the outside, even on the upper half. And also, they were founded on May 16th, 1973 by James A.
