The best part of the Houdini story is that his widow held seances every year after he died. They had agreed on a secret code before he passed, so she would know if he came through. He never did. He’s buried with her in the same cemetery as all 4 of my grandparents.
From a practical point of view, the thing that makes us us is electricity/energy. Once we die our body doesn't need that energy anymore so it dissipates into the "ether" of the universe. So I postulate that it could be, no matter how unlikely, that the energy that made up that person could have had such a strong will that it was able to keep itself together long enough to impart a message before completely dissipating. This of course is only speculation
The timing of this video is funny for any Sam and Colby fans since a lot of people are saying the psychics that have been in their latest videos have been scamming them with tricks created by the Fox sisters
Thanks for correcting; I was hoping soneome else would. Though technically Rochester isn’t ON Lake Ontario, but it certainly is significantly closer to it than to Erie.
Nice and informative video on the Fox sisters' history and their impact on spiritualism. The inclusion of Houdini's role in debunking spiritualists added an interesting dimension too. Thanks for sharing.
Not my story, but my brother's. From the age of around eleven, he says he can see a small girl with black hair following him at a distance in the house we grew up in. If he was at the bottom of the stairs, she was peeking out from the corner at the top of the stairs etc. We couldn't work out where she came from because our house was a new build and we were the first family to live there, and we were there for the better part of 15 years. She was never malevolent towards him, just always seemed to tail him. I don't know if she still follows him though; we're both in our late thirties. I should ask him how she's doing.
Love the vid, very well done. It's amazing how individuals will be happy to profit on other people's suffering. Some humans are real garbage, sadly. I live down the road from the site of their childhood home. There is a HUGE following.🙄 You have the location slightly wrong. It's east of Rochester, South of lake Ontario. We are actually about 150 miles from lake Erie.
Ok.....I was ready to listen to this video while folding the laundry expecting to hear Simon's voice but when I hear your voice I thought it was just another ad....a very long ad....
Great story, Karl! If people are interested in more information about the whole Spiritualist movement in upstate NY, look up Lily Dale---there are documentaries, books, etc. I wish we could communicate with our loved ones, but I think mediums are a bunch of fakers.
Man, I have crackly joints and all I get for it is occasional joint pain. Great video though! I knew some of this story, but it was cool to hear a more complete version.
Karl, I was watching "Cadfael" (DVD) this afternoon and noticed that one of the credits was for Stephen Smallwood, a producer. Any relation? Asking for a friend. .-)
I went to the Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast six years ago and stayed overnight. I had been using dowsing rods to communicate with the spirits, and I asked Mrs. Borden if Lizzie had killed her. The response I got was "Yes." When I asked if Lizzie was in the room and if she was made about me asking, I got another pair of affirmatives. That night, Lizze's ghost woke me up and I heard a woman's voice say, "Go to sleep and die!" So I guess she was really mad at me!
Great video. However, the Fox Sisters were born and raised and lived on and near Lake Ontario, not Lake Erie. Lake Erie is the north border of the State of Ohio.
Fun Fact: The interest in Spiritualism helped African descendants of enslaved people in Caribbean and Latin America to use Spiritualism as a cover to practice their own religious traditions.
Well, they didn't have movies, tv, internet, or even radio to entertain themselves in the 19 th century. . And, more seriously, countless people died in childhood and young adulthood from contagious diseases, childbirth complications, and accidents. Death was everywhere all the time, and the average lifespan was about 45, if you were lucky.

Hi.
LINK THE AUTHOR YOU BELLEND!!!!!!!
“You’re a wizard, Harry!”
“Sod off, weirdo!”
And so, it would be another 100+ years before a wizarding-school franchise would take off.

Some people can sell the craziest ideas, and here I couldn't sell hacksaws in a jail.
*Simon! You look totally different! That hair looks **_real,_** dude!*

Love Karl's presentation, always fun to listen to! Keep up the good work!
Did he say "...Rochester near Lake Erie" ?
That's " *BUFFALO ON* Lake Erie".
Rochester is on Lake Ontario.
Thanks for correcting; I was hoping soneome else would. Though technically Rochester isn’t ON Lake Ontario, but it certainly is significantly closer to it than to Erie.
I grew up in Rochester and had never heard of the Fox sisters until many years later.
You are such a charismatic host! Not to say Simon isn’t, this is just my first time watching you as the host and your quick humor was cracking me up.
nice try

Great job Karl. I enjoy the personal touches.
Wait...so Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was the first to say "You're a wizard Harry"? Sorry...I had too...
"You're a wizard Harry!"
-Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to Houdini
Love this content and vids

Can you share the answer if you ask?
Please!!!!
Karl can you do Park Chung Hee or Ngo Dihn Diem next? Very interesting figures.
Also happy Halloween
Love your contenr from the start karl! Happy halloween! 🎃🎃🎃🧡🧡🖤🖤🖤🖤
Passing the word along! Happy Halloween!
People want to believe despite the facts in front of them. Even to this day, I live in the USA…need I say more⁉️ Grifters will always take advantage.
Very interesting, thank you.

Where did Simon get all that hair?
Wait, is this the first time he's simply host and not interim host? Rejoice!

Ok, looking for Simon, but I'm listening.
Whoa new voice caught me off guard
Karl, I was watching "Cadfael" (DVD) this afternoon and noticed that one of the credits was for Stephen Smallwood, a producer. Any relation? Asking for a friend. .-)
Where is Simon?
😂
This is Simon, he just shaved and grew out his hair
It's canon now.
They replaced him with bland dude.
@Biographics Have him slow down just a bit. We'll get used to him...he's very cute, too.
The Fox sisters seem a lot less annoying than that femme Guido from long Island.

You are a brave soul!
What happened to Simon?
"You're a wizard, Harry Houdini!"
Fascinating!
Thank you.
Absolutely loved the RDR2 reference 😂😂😂
My uncle worked with these sister!! Its funny because I am born and raised here and almost no one talks about this here!
Houdini's medium also claimed his mother said she was with Jesus, despite the fact she was jewish
Where is Simon?
Wait....I think Im on the wrong channel...where is Simon??
Hasnt been here for months
Is spooky season the new happy holidays?
SAY HALLOWEEN, KYLE!
😉
Yes! Yes! My favorite holy day!!
"You're a wizard, harry!"
Let’s go!

Bring Simon back
Attention is one hell of a drug.
It also shows that people really want to believe in a lie, because they want the lie to be true that badly.
But we've all lost someone, so we all understand.
Hi.😊
It is spooky how I see the "like" counter go up and the "view" counter must be the spirits. 👻
Hello, my fellow sprits.
I honestly wouldn't want people knowing my last name is smallwood unless I can show them its not.
Iron Maiden's longtime band manager is a guy named Rod Smallwood 😂
Grow up, willya?
I knew a Bigwood and I've regretted to find out that it was disappointingly small lol
It's just a name.
@@retriever19golden55have fun willya
I always hear it as ward not wood. >.

You look so much younger without the beard!
Please do "Edward Stratemeyer: Father of YA Literature".
I haven't been on in a good while....where the funk is Simon!?!? Did he quit!?!?
That personal story sounds like an electrical problem.
Here's hoping the gullible fans of Cody and Satori learn about this.
Drunk spiritualists in the 1800s. Sigmund Freud would have had a field day...
Karl you stepped on the shoes of a giant ! I'm not going to comment on your wood but for sure you have massive balls
IS IT SO HARD TO LINK THE AUTHOR???????????
Enunciate, slow down and for Christ's sake loose the "glib tangents".
Wtf Karl? Why are you on Simon's channel?!
Colby Biowood!
Distinguish. D
Do you think the writers for this channel live in Karl’s cellar?
That Wiglett cracks me every time i see it.
To bad witch burnings stopped before there fame
Sound was awful, diction was worse , just made it to 3 mins, a lot of work to be done, reading it from cue, lifeless and disinterested.
i cant understand him very good
Haven't watched a Biographys since Simon got lazy and got someone else. It's just weird to me.
Where is Simon??
gone
Where is Simon?
