Not really. Wrestling has been a joke since the early 80s. It is just entertainment. Jim prefers old school but the thing is that's all been done before a million times and everyone knows it's fake. He's going to have an aneurysm the way he gets worked up over this dumb shit.
I think comedy in wrestling (like the grenade spot) works in a small Indy company like Chikara. That’s a small niche company and it attracts a small amount of people. For a large company or a company that wants to be large, it doesn’t work, but comedy in wrestling can work when done right
"None of these guys have a chance at working for a major promotion anyway." Tomasso Ciampa worked in ROH and works in WWE. Trent? currently works in both Ring of Honnor and NJPW. Same with Chuck Taylor. Willie Mack got signed to Lucha Underground. I think they're doing pretty good for themselves
Explain that sentence. Because the rational is completely ridiculous. Tomasso Ciampa was in this match. Tomasso Ciampa works in WWE. Ergo wrestling sucks. Because it couldn't be that WWE has a vice grip on what mainstream media considers wrestling to be. It couldn't be that the Benoit murders poisoned public perception of the entire industry. Stuff like this is overall harmless because everyone in the world knows that its fake and it will never again be otherwise.
Uhhh he already covered Ciampa, you fucking moron. LU? Yeah...a show that is seen by 2 people. Trent and Chuck are nothing more than an underneath guys that will be forgotten about before they are even buried in the ground. It also proves that the WWE has signed most anyone worth a damn so companies like ROH has to scrape the bottom of the barrel to fill out their roster.

Possibly, but people are gonna like what they like and there’s no changing that
People who say this thing never happens in PWG. Stuff like this happens all the time. Thats what makes PWG cool it's every kind of wrestling; hardcore, technical, brawling, and even comedy.
The Masked Heel try getting tickets to a PWG show, they sell out in minutes, people travel from all over America to go to a PWG show. And is the venue small? Yes it is but it’s small because it captures the emotion and atmosphere of all these sweaty drunk Americans (not an insult btw lol) in the best way possible. You can feel the energy of that building just by watching clips of pwg.
The Masked Heel they always hold events in the same place, the cheapest ticket (standing) is $80, and still sell out in minutes to every time. capacity is 400.
I think Jim has a good mind for wrestling but he's somewhat stuck in his old ways sometimes. In regards to Joey Ryan and invisible hand grenades and things like that however he is spot on. It makes wrestling look stupid and childish. Its just fodder for people who don't like wrestling to point at and go "See? Wrestling is stupid, he flipped him with his dick and threw an invisible hand grenade."
No one in particular to be real those type of promos and matches would get over today so it's not being stuck in old ways, he knows how to get stuff over. Just look at the UFC wrestling was like that at one point so I know the old stuff could still work
@ninjast4r I'm guessing you missed every Rob Van Dam and Jerry Lynn match in ECW then. They pretended to have their dicks castrated through invisible hand grenades and got a pin fall through "blood loss" coming from their dicks. Did that spot every night for a year.
I must admit that this does my heart good. Over the years, my son and I have met many wrestlers, and they've almost all been great. I won't even try to list all of them that were gracious, patient and humble. I do want to single out Roddy Piper as the most gracious one of all, and mention Melina, who was a sweetheart despite what I've read of her reputation. But there were two exceptions. One, very surprisingly, was Tommy Dreamer, but I can excuse that because he was quite busy trying to run a House of Hardcore event. The one I can't excuse was Chuck Taylor. He was a straight up prick. When I approached him, I mentioned that I had been following Dan Barry in a local promotion and thought, since they both did comedy on the side, that they might make an interesting tag team. I was brushed off in the snottiest, most dismissive manner, only to see, maybe a year later, the two of them doing some talk show together. Taylor looks like a clown when he comes out from the curtain, and contributes virtually nothing. So, Corny, thanks for this bitch slap, it's well deserved.
The Boogeyman might be a horrible gimmick, but he still looks like he could legitimately win a fight without resorting to pretending to use a hand grenade. Smdh

Corny kinda hurt his argument by using musicians as a comparison. Weird Al Yankovic, Victor Borge & Spike Jones were & are hilarious & respected musicians. Especially among the serious musicians.
Milli Vanilli were 2 fake musicians who won a Grammy, there were real musicians behind them making the music but they were lip syncing their performance, it made other musicians mad. Being funny is not bad, that's not the point of Jim. I believe.
But they're not the Milli Vanilli of wrestling... they're more like the Weird Al of wrestling. Talented performers who would rather be played for laughs then taken seriously. If that's not your cup of tea I understand. But your criticisms are a bit inaccurate
Vince Fox it's an old spot. It was bullshit. Nobody in the match ever looked like they were trying to win. Just like the slo-mo and cockgrab line in pwg.

Damn throwing Ciampa and Cody down the bus 🚌, things are certainly different now.
Jim has a point here
Not really. Wrestling has been a joke since the early 80s. It is just entertainment. Jim prefers old school but the thing is that's all been done before a million times and everyone knows it's fake. The new guys don't have much to work with.
Jim has worked with organizations that have done stuff just as dumb. Jim wants people to respect wrestling the way he does and that's never going to happen. He's going to have an aneurysm the way he gets worked up over this dumb shit.
I think comedy in wrestling (like the grenade spot) works in a small Indy company like Chikara. That’s a small niche company and it attracts a small amount of people. For a large company or a company that wants to be large, it doesn’t work, but comedy in wrestling can work when done right
"None of these guys have a chance at working for a major promotion anyway."
Tomasso Ciampa worked in ROH and works in WWE. Trent? currently works in both Ring of Honnor and NJPW. Same with Chuck Taylor. Willie Mack got signed to Lucha Underground. I think they're doing pretty good for themselves
You just made the case why pro wrestling these days is so terrible and unpopular
If they're underneath guys then why does it matter?
+The Masked Heel Chuckie and Trent are former iwgp Jr tag team champs sir
Imagine paying money and seeing someone throw an invisible hand grenade, you might as well pay a homeless guy to do that. Hows he got a job in AEW making good money, oh yeah cause he's "best friends" with everyone
I'm guessing Jim's not one of Chucky T's best friends lol
It was the Holy HandGrenade. Lol.
"None of these guys will ever work for a major wrestling company"
Still stands
Hate to break it to you but that's already provide to be false.

I admittedly laughed at this spot, and I’m not ashamed to admit it, especially when you look at WWE still carrying on the Gobbledygooker and worse yet the 24/7 title, and even WORSE when they had Nia Jax coming out and tripping over everything, was it an ‘insult to professional wrestling’? Possibly, but people are gonna like what they like and there’s no changing that
Back when Cornette used to “love” meltzer.... oh how much I wish he still loved him
People who say this thing never happens in PWG. Stuff like this happens all the time. Thats what makes PWG cool it's every kind of wrestling; hardcore, technical, brawling, and even comedy.
That's why that shitty promotion only draws ten people.
The Grizzly? Big deal, 3 neckbeards use mommy's money to see some outlaw show.
The Masked Heel they always hold events in the same place, the cheapest ticket (standing) is $80, and still sell out in minutes to every time. capacity is 400.
YilEySusSnAnCESoSSaWS snance , no one cares how many neckbeard mouth breathers packed into a bingo hall using mommy's money, mark.
Just look at the UFC wrestling was like that at one point so I know the old stuff could still work
The Puddin’ Gang before they were the Puddin’ Gang
Crazy to hear Jim putting Dave Meltzer over
Im getting this feeling, after listening to this, Jim doesn't care much for this Chuck Taylor guy.
Man Chuck Taylor was in way better shape back then.

Ciampa is one of the best wrestlers in the world today now lol
Pwg, the reddit of wrestling
20 years ago, it was 1997. The attitude era. Jim needs to realize that "20 years ago" in his head is actually 40 years ago.
I thought that too. I could see his "20 years ago" applying to the mid 80's. (so closer to 30 years ago than 40) but not any more recently than that.
The modern era of wrestling starts in the mid 80's so his logic isn't that off.
@@Aphelion_k9f thank you
@ninjast4r exactly
From the same guy who once slapped somebody for not taking the Boogyman seriously
Yeah?
The Boogeyman might be a horrible gimmick, but he still looks like he could legitimately win a fight without resorting to pretending to use a hand grenade. Smdh
Normal people cringe watching mainstream wrestling like wwe cause of the rise of real physical combat like UFC . It doesn't make sense that you punch a guy 20 times in the face and he doesn't get knocked out... These guys aren't taking it seriously so when regular people watch this they're gonna see something fun happening .
...and what red-blooded American make does NOT want to see a man putting his hand in another man's pants, feeling his penis? What red-blooded American male does NOT dream of being able to find a Tootsie Roll in another man's ass?? How can you not see the GREAT technical skill involved in performing rectal exams??? People need to quit being so heterosexual!!!!!! As a red-blooded American male, I love watching men fondle one another's penis!!!!!!! How can you NOT enjoy the wholly American sport of ass-feeling?? IT makes me want to stand up and salute the flag when I see men putting their fingers in another man's ass!!!!!! God BLESS America!!!!!!!!!!! This is what wrestling SHOULD be!!!!!!!!! More penis action!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to see a grown man take his dick out and clothesline another man with it, or a turnbucke spot when his penis punches another man in the face 20 times!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT's what wrestling has always been!!!! Nice, big, manly, burly, oily men touching other men's penis!!!!!!!!
@Nate Amstutz
What's the matter, Natalie? Are you one of those guys that gets really excited seeing a man fondle another man? I bet it makes you rock hard, all 1/4" of you! Bet you're President of the Joey Ryan Fan Club, scouring the Internet every day for pictures of men feeling up other guys?
Lol don't tell Jim about Ciampa leading the thumb butt train.
"The play wrestlers are at it again".
Accurate as ever, Jim.
It really does seem like they try to make their schtick look and feel like a Broadway play... a fucking comedy soap opera, if that makes sense.
Shameful.
There is so much irony in that whole comment but you may be too dense to see it
Jim was shooting hard on this poor 7th Grader.

Dusty was probably turning over in his grave when Cody did that spot
But look where Cody is at now. It turned out well in the end
I HATE the way the CHIKARA trained guys like Chuck Taylor and orange Cassidy hit the ropes... they hit it with their backs flat and their free hand bracing the middle rope instead of under the armpit w/the side of their bodies bouncing off the rope . It looks ridiculous and bush league
Mudshow wrestling.
You know I love Jim. I could listen to him rant all day, in fact I have many times but one thing I do wish he'd cut out is his constant ridiculing of Christians Or just religion in general. If you don't believe in God that's perfectly fine but he just never misses a chance to rattle on about how stupid and disconnected he thinks people are for believing in it. When it comes to that subject by all means state your opinion, but say you're an atheist and leave it at that. I don't rattle on about how stupid I think people are for thinking that the whole world and universe just materialized out of nothing and that people just popped up on their own. I respect people's opinions on that subject and leave it at that. Naturally jim doesn't give a shit he speaks his mind with no filter, and that's fine but that's one thing that turns me off from his videos and why I don't watch them so much anymore. When it comes to that subject I think people should just agree to disagree and leave it at that.. just my humble little opinion
But religion causes more harm than good. Normally people are thrown in a mental hospital for believing in imaginary people.
My thoughts and the thoughts of MANY others that listen.
However JC is the kind of guy that absolutely hates anyone or anything that opposes his worldview or his opinions.
It's the mark of a child.
I love Pro-wrestling!
And I love Jim Cornette, and his stories about the business!
And I love to hear his opinion on wrestling and other stuff too!
But I could do without him, bashing christians, and people who are spiritual!
As a born-again christian, I have learned, especially over the last few years: To Each His Own!
But don't, go knocking somebody's else's beliefs, to be hateful and redicule them!
My late brother-in-law, was a agnostic, and my sister was a born-again christian, (yes, I know, their marriage was very "different", and sometimes "inplodesive"!
And I told him once, while he was driving down the road, that I loved him, and I was "worried" about his "immortal soul"! And I guaranteed him, that there was a God, and there was a Heaven and a he'll!
And he listened to me, without interupting me, and then he said, "Thank you Robert. You can tell me, what you believe in, as long as you don't "preach" to me!"
Just some love, respect, and a little bit of tolerance or other's beliefs, at the end of the road, Jim!
God bless you, Jim!
You are in my prayers!🙏😇

I Could not agree more !
His Christophobia is insane.
His LEGIT hatred of us is so insane that someone professing to be a Christian must've hurt him at some point.
But no matter who hates us, the Bible tells us to love those who hate us and bless those that curse us, as you already know I'm sure.
Excellent observation imo.
God bless you and your family.
👍
Okay cool but what did that have to do with the video
This is why I love you, Mr. Cornette. You know what pro wrestling is and should be. I've been a fan of yours for decades and I'll always be a fan of yours. Preach on Corn-Dog. 😊
Man TH-cam’s got some serious problems. How many comments that say show reply aren’t going to be there?
The weirdest thing is that the PWG World Champions are pretty much a who's who of modern wrestling. AJ Styles, Bryan Danielson, Kevin Steen, Sami Zayn, WALTER, Cesaro, Adam Pearce, Chris Hero, Kazarian, Zack Sabre Jr, Adam Cole and Ricochet are among the titleholders, I recognized all but three of the 24 champions. The alumni include CM Punk, Samoa Joe, Drew McIntye, Seth Rollins, Christopher Daniels, Pac, London and Kendrick, MCMG, Austin Aries, Matt Sydal, The Briscoes, Brian Cage, Cedric Alexander, Eddie Kingston, Gargano, Ciampa, Karl Anderson, Low Ki, Petey Williams, Jamie Noble, Akira Tozawa, Will Ospreay, Homicide, Delirious, etc. - who the hell wasn't in PWG?
Jim was being over dramatic about one comedic spot. These things don't define the genuine talent the wrestlers are capable of. It's just them experimenting and having fun!
How is Jim Cornette not in a Kevin Smith film by now? He'd be fucking perfect. 😂
As bad as this sounds was it really any worse than the Finger Poke of Doom?
One of the very first matches I ever saw as a 6yr old kid was Kennel From Hell, i thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. I accepted this business was a circus a long time ago, take it for what it is. Laugh at the bullshit, embrace the wrestlecrap.
I believe.
Guess what he had in his hand...
But they're not the Milli Vanilli of wrestling... they're more like the Weird Al of wrestling. Talented performers who would rather be played for laughs then taken seriously. If that's not your cup of tea I understand. But your criticisms are a bit inaccurate
Well, I guess some people like Comedy Central wrestling. Some people HATE WRESTLING
Vince Fox it's an old spot. It was bullshit. Nobody in the match ever looked like they were trying to win. Just like the slo-mo and cockgrab line in pwg.
Don't disrespect Weird Al, man. He is very talented and respects the business. Most musicians respect him.
Stan McSerr I didn't though. I love Weird Al.
Because pro wrestling has historically always been about rectal exams and penis grabbing!!!!!! IT's fun to touch other men!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can see why you enjoy it so much. You can't wait to watch men put their hands down each other's pants! Does that excite you?
Sadly, a lot of these guys did end up in a Major promotion in AEW
