Thank you so very much for these explanations. I am somewhat new to cross stitching and enjoy the craft a great deal. The one thing I was having problems with was the sizing. Now that I found your video, that confusion has been cleared up very quickly. Thank you!!
Adding 3 inches to every side is quite a lot of fabric to waste especially if the project is only 5 by 5 to start with..I usually only add 1 to 1.5 inches each side, that still gives enough to put into a hoop or q snap etc and is enough to frame with too.I have been doing this for about 40 years and frame my projects myself. Thank you for all your tips though 🌞
The tip about frames was mind blowing! I always leave a 3" border but my current WIP, i cut the fabric wrong so I only have 2.5" on each side 😢 And I learned the hard way about how an experienced pattern will say the size of the pattern. I ordered a pattern on Etsy and didn't realize until after I purchased it that there was no size. I assumed it would be 5" to 7". Nope! I contacted the shop owner for the size and it turns out it was onky 2" x 3". Sooooooo disappointed!!! I did the pattern but not happy with the size

Thanks for the info on the size of the frame. I didn’t know that. Very helpful.
It catches a lot of people off guard. Another knowledge fragment from my photog days!
Love watching your hints, even though I have been stitching for years you seem to come up with something new to me❤
Thanks so much for watching!

Very useful thank you
I'm so glad! Thanks for watching!
Very good information can you please show how to cut fabric?
I'll add it to the list of future video ideas!
This is great information! I'll probably have to rewatch again when I'm getting ready for my next project that's not a kit!
Takes a few times before it really becomes second nature, for sure! Hope it helps!
Great info about frame size openings!!
Thank you for watching and for your feedback!

Ford did it again. I did not realize the opening of a frame is smaller than
Listed. I thought I went terribly wrong with Positivity Lifts.
I'm just a veritable font of obscure, almost-uselessly-niche knowledge!

Wheres Nugget?
I cheat I always go two inches from right hand corner

Excellent explanation but perhaps make your sizing diagram a little larger just for ease of reading.
Sorry if it was hard to see! I will try to build easier to read graphics in similar circumstances in future!
@@SonovaStitchit was fine to see on my iPad but I frequently watch on my phone which made that tiny square hard to see.
@stlwatrs on my iPhone, I can spread out my thumb and index finger to zoom out on the screen just as I do on photos to view things like that easier.
