I have purchased 2 different models of dust collectors from Oneida. Both failed miserably. I put them on the shelf and and began looking for unit that works.
I have 2 and they are the best tool in the shop. They keep my shop and dustcollector filters clean. I like Jake have no dust in my shop vac or filters after years of use. You most likely have leak in your storage container seal and they tell you that in the manual.
I’m going to have one hooked up to my lathe.. we should get a good look at that after I turn a bit.. although the dust caught from the bandsaw is finer than one would expect.
Appreciate the update and original video as well. I have the original dust deputy and the new 2.5 and they're amazing. I'll be adding a low pro to my miter saw setup very soon.
Thanks for this video. Mine was also missing this little piece. I emailed Oneida about mine and linked to this, and they quickly replied with a shipping notice for the part. Thanks again.
I have watched two of your vids today. This one and the one on the Home Depot dust stopper improved version. Both good vids. This comment is only to let you know I’m going to “borrow “ your Karma Checkbook phase. If more people truly cared about that this world would be a much better place. Ultimately right is right as you stated. God bless. I hope your channel continues to flourish.
Well done, Jake. After your last video we had a good conversation about the results and I was hesitant on updating my Oneida. After watching this follow up video I can move forward with that decision. The follow up from the company says a great deal on their Customer Service to current and future customers. Jake, for all you do for our community "Thank you!" Honesty and Integrity speaks loudly. 💪💪💪💪
Thank you Anita.. now that this collects dust like I am accustomed to Dust Deputies collecting dust.. I definitely recommend getting this one… I still don’t suggest getting the kit with the expensive hose and bucket.. but I would buy the top and get a 5 gallon bucket from one of the big box stores.
I bought the same separator about a year ago. and I would say about a month after my purchase, out of the blue, I received a package from Oneida with the rubber plug and instructions for install.
You're doing the right thing for the right reasons - big respect, sir!!! And Oneida, great job making it right for the customer. Win-win all the way around!
Good video. Gotta appreciate the integrity of someone who puts truth over profit. I know there are still a lot of us out there, though unfortunately the culture has degraded. Also, good to see a company that has delivered a good product, and wants to continue doing so. Bottom line, is that I believe just like air and water, life and everything in it, always finds a balance.
That's some good customer service that they jumped onboard and owned that problem. Great to see a company interested in its legacy rather than just quick bucks. Sorry about the video loss but I'm sure the scales will be back in balance and karma restored once more.😁👍💪
I just found out about you because TH-cam recommended the other video to me even though you have it unlisted. I guess it did that since I have been searching for DIY dust collection systems. Great video. I would like to see what the new CFM is compared to the other video with the bad collector.
Thank you.. I did a video on this Oneida and the old Dustopper.. maybe that’s the one it suggested.. either way.. I’m glad you enjoyed.. I can tell you the cfm is the same after putting the plug in.. I rechecked it the other day it was 133 cfm.. 👍👍
😳💁 I like that Oneida cares enough about their customers and products to promptly improve their service to a single person and too pay attention to "TH-camr's" ... I'm very impressed! 👍 Thank you for posting this, it helped me decide which kit to get for my Dremel table. 👍
I'm glad they saw my original video and immediately investigated the problem. I ordered the Low Pro as soon as it came out. I'm sure by making the video as fast as I did helped minimize the problem that they might have had if I hadn't made the video.. Win Win for everyone. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
I just bought one of these based on a positive YT review I saw on another channel. I haven't used it yet, but included in the paperwork was a sheet that specifically called out this plug. The sheet says that if your low pro doesn't have the plug then email Oneida and they'll send you one.
So, I’m still wondering what the differences are between the HD Dustopper Pro and the Lowe’s LowPro? Was I supposed to learn that from this video and I just missed it? 😊 That’s the real question people have - which should I buy if I wanna upgrade or don’t even have one to begin with. Thanks for the video and all the work that goes into it!
This video is for the people that received low pro’s that didn’t perform well and let them know that there is a problem that Oneida will fix.. and since this video they have sent everyone the part to fix it.. The difference between the HD Dustopper and the low pro is the low pro has more airflow. I appreciate you recognizing the effort that goes in.
Thank you bud about the funds lost for the views, but you are correct when you do the right thing and tell the truth you get more positive satisfaction.
I just took a look at mine and it is a different style center section. It has like a cone in the center. However, the cyclone is not working. My shop vac filter is clogging up with a lot of dust in the shop vac and little in the bucket. I have the shop vac attached to the top with the tool going out the other end. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong but this thing does not work
Husky should make a low profile shop vac with a built on cyclone dust collector. Something that can fit under a work bench. It can be like an oval shape, If the shop vac bucket does not collect dust they can put a powerful motor but a smaller bucket. That way it would save space and have no hoses between them.
I did right after this and it remained the same. I did it again just now just to make sure .. it read 133cfm with no 90.. just a hose going from the vac to the separator.
I can't find this answer anywhere so I'll try here. Does the Dust Deputy 2.5 or the Low-Pro have a better air flow through them? I'm needing to update my 10 year old Dust Deputy with the most CFM I can squeeze out of it.

@JakeThompson On Amazon the low pro and the 2.5 are only s couple dollars different. Can you say if the 2.5 is better than the low pro. And for that price which is about $ 52 it's only the unit, no hose or fittings.
@ The shop vac hoses should fit right on the 2.5 and the 2.5 definitely pulls more airflow.. You should just need a bucket. I may do a comparison in the near future.
