    Hello Rick, Great video. Yesterday I've recieved my speedlight and was trying to find and was trying to find TH-cam videos on how to use it. For the life of me could not find any that help me since I have never used a E-TTL speedlight before.
    Just watching the 3 videos that you have posted, now I can understand and use my speedlight. Thank you very much, you are a great teacher....

    I actually figured this out. I was using my LCD screen when the speedlight was attached and basically all you do is close it, and use the view finder to look and set your YN560II to S1 or probably other modes too and it should work.

    @Ron Powell Think you asked a further question re 430exii and 580exii compared to an old 420. Both will recycle faster. 430exii would give a bit more light and better features.. don't know how much extra light never tested a 420. The 580exii is a master flash also and gives 2/3rd of a stop more than 430exii lights.

    Hi Richard, I don't know if you've ever been asked this question. I use my Canon 60D in a photobooth. The templates I use take 3-4 consecutive pictures to put in the photo booth strip. I use an optical slave attached to an alienbees external light mounted above the camera. Lately I have been having this issue where the second frame comes out black.
    Then the next people come in, it will flash all four times, no problem.
    The next people come in and it will not flash the second or maybe the third.
    Its really random. I'm not sure what settings I should use. I use it on manual>flash output? (I've tried changing these but still not consistent fix)
    Do I need to try to change the exposure compensation? I don't use and speedlite.

    ZigiMusic On the Canon 430EX speedlite the slave mode is for use with a master flash like the 580ex etc. Or an on camera commander flash. Its not a true optical slave like on other lights (well it is but Canon dumbed it down). For using the flash on camera of in manual off camera mode use it in normal mode, for slave duties being controlled by a master commander or light switch it to slave. For example I can put my 430eii lights in slave mode and control them via my 600ex-rt on camera... but frankly that's a waste of a good light sitting on camera :)
    PS sorry for late reply I have missed allot of comments since youtube and google + comments combined... its a mess.

    RubberTrampsReviews The zoom feature of the 430exii is some what fussy when the flash head is tilted. The options with in the camera menu regarding the flash will also depend on what mode the camera is set to... Auto for example has limited options.

    Hi, I really hope you can help with this issue of mine. When I go to that specific part of the menu, it still does not recognize that I have a flash mounted to the top of the camera. But if I click on built in flash settings, it's unavailable as well stating that I have an external flash. What could be causing this issue? The products are compatible. Canon t3i with a neewer tt680.

    ***** Its sounds like you have the flash and or camera on auto mode. Are you using the YN-468ii on camera or off camera? Would need more info to take a better guess at whats happening. Make sure the flash is on either manual mode or TTL mode and NOT on an optical slave mode (S1 S2) if memory serves me right.

    great video, thanks. one question: you mention the need for remotes or cables for HSS. The setup i'm looking to do is to have the 430 off camera, set up as a slave with my 60D's internal wireless firing it. I will need HSS for some shots, and wondered if I took you up wrong, as it seemed you were saying that using the flash off camera as a slave you can't engage HSS.

    • @rickjbradbury
      @rickjbradbury  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andy Bertaut You can't use HSS with the built in flash as a wireless sender, the reason is its too slow and can't keep up. You would need a master like a 580exii or 600ex-RT, you could also use a ST-E2 commander as well.

    Eddie, I was just having the same problem. The YN-560 II won't work with the external flash menu. You need a Canon flash (or maybe a third party that does work)

    Hi, thanks for the vid.
    I have 430ex II older model and it has "OFF" and "Slave" mode.
    What are the difference between them and which one should I use, when?
    Thanks!

    is there anyway a sunpack 555 flash unit can be used on the 60D

    • @rickjbradbury
      @rickjbradbury  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure if the voltage matches. You have to be careful with older flashes.
      Assuming its compatible in that respect you should be able to connect it via a flash cord. After that it will need to be mounted on a flash bracket.

      Brandon - what speedlite you trying to use? It could be that the speedlite in question is not compatible.
