drop? who in their right mind is hoping for a 3GA thing that is exactly what you need???? no sane person, problem is you farm gold and then spend that hard earned gold for an item you brick....... we need a temper reset mechanic, should be expensive like 1 spark + 100m
I cannot be convinced that tempering is actually random, I've had this exact thing happen to at least 6 items.
Randomness only exists in nature. Someone is behind the coding.

It's probably weighted. Some stats are naturally more wanted and so they probably made them have less chance to be rolled

@MMoer this is true af. My necro can get golem dmg easily. Meanwhile my rogue, trying to get vunerable is like 1 in 10 try, eventhough they were like 4/5 affix in the pool. The worst shit is that some affix just appear back to back.

Some of the tables have 4 plus items that are never used, the damage on Tuesday options were just moved to these tables
Idk how it is for the other classes, but for rogue it feels like a nightmare. I hear necro has good alternatives even if you don’t get your ideal roll 🤷♂️
Yes as a rogue main it's the worse since we don't have secondary options on most tempering options.
@@robertjohnston25true. At least for Necro if you dont hit golem/mage there is summoning damage. For other classes like Barb, you need Bash temper. Which is 1 of the 4 possible outcomes. If you have a 3GA GG item, you can brick it if you dont hit it.
@@JRBaldOPPAthey made everything about the necro summon easy for all the casual Andy’s that picked it up on game pass. Think about it… what a coincidence that the easiest possible class to play is also the easiest to build and easily one of the most powerful if not the most powerful class in the game. I can’t wait for poe2 tbh I love Diablo but stuff like this just pushes me away
Need to a) make it so you can't roll same thing back to back and b) have some really rare, like the stones, that can be found in pit 100+ to unbrick an item. I had a perfect rolled crossbow for my Heartseeker build and rolled puncture every time. Now it's a dead item. Systems broken and now they can't even get their anniversary event working right
This happens all the time it is so frustrating. It’s like their AI figures out what you need and refuses to let you have it.
Should have sticked to old school system, no crafting, you just pick up the gear as you go along

The idea behind bricked items. It creates an economy. I've gone through 6 bis, 3 GA weapons. I still don't think they should change the system.
The economy will still be there without bricked items cause if it takes you 30+ tries to get what you want that will be alot of gold which means alot of farming to still sell items to make said gold

This is my exact problem with “dodge chance” when I need armor or maximum life.

If you’re having that issue try hitting the possibilities menu and scrolling thru it, I land on an affix I don’t want and then try. If that doesn’t work flash your genitals usually works for me😂😂 my superstitious ritual
If I get the same role twice I just swap what I’m rolling and it usually stops it I bet it’s a bug where it gets hung up on that option
@@itzxsliick7036 that’s what I’m thinking too but who knows. Blizzard may have made it difficult to get the good tempers so we can’t just put whatever we want on our gear and be too OP too early. They wanna make us grind for it instead.

I stopped playing a week ago when i got a two-handed sword with 3x GA strength, max life, and damage. basically perfect drop that got bricked completely, they need to remove the tempering limit honestly
Or increase it to 12 or 20. I mean if we have the cash what do they care?
with rare finds like that I personally like to stop before my final roll and switch to a different recipe that I'm ok with getting 3/4 or 4/4 options on (like generic armour, damage, or resource) so that way I still get an affix out of it rather than pure bricking like +cutthroat dmg on a marksman build.
They could make a soft cap with gold sink like enchantment.
Some affixes and greater affixes are already very hard to come by. Tempering is an unnecessary gamble.

yeh, I'm on the same boat. I've been using a crossbow with vul GA and maxlife, but been looking to swap to a bow and I just got a nice bow today GA dex and GA vul only to brick it, wasn't able to hit the double projectile heartseeker roll lol sucks.
Bricked a few GA bows on my rogue already. Finally lucked out with max rolls on all stats and the right tempers on a bow but no GA and I doubt I'll be lucky enough to see a replacement anytime soon that isn't instantly bricked either due to this stupid tempering crap

This is among the most relatable videos I have ever seen on TH-cam. A weighted table to help avoid dupe nightmares bricking loot like this would be nice, but I don't know if that's something they would add.

I literally think their algorithm reads what build you have, and knows what the best tempers would be and instantly makes those tempers a 2% chance. In the 200+ temper attempts, I can safely say that I have had a certain temper I DIDN'T want roll 3+ times in a row at least 40% of those times. It's insane.
I definitely agree with this. On my Bash barb I get Kick and Upheaval for days. When I started a Kratos build...bash....bash...bash...bash...

Can’t do that. The devs don’t even know what’s best in slot for a build because they don’t play enough. They probably think these trash stats are good because they don’t even build characters.

This actually happened to me i save 23 GG items to temper and believe it or not this temper shit system brick every single one of them included a Bow with 3 perfect 3 GA stats, next day i farm the shit out of the game to get another 10 items just to find out the system has a 100% chance to brick my items. I just go back to POE.

At first I thought you could gamble to get higher values of the same affix but now I know this is very very risky
as shit as it can feel this is also just a consequence of pure RNG systems. A lot of games rig RNG in your favor but games without this kind of feature feel can feel rigged against you with the crazy 10+ bad luck streaks on something with a relatively high success rate like 30-50%
I don't believe this is a real random system. There is definitely some BS pseudo with weights.
it would be nice if we could pick which role we want to temper and have the gamble in which perecentage we get for it.

Definitely need a way to reset tempering on an item, don't have to be easy or cheap, make it another challenge, that adds gameplay. I have a perfect bow just laying in my stash because I'm afraid to do the tempering haha.

Same here. I was at a point where the only upgrades I could have to my character was to have 3GA weapons. Bought 3 swords and a crossbow for a about a billion. I ended up bricking all of them and lost all my will to play lol.

@@Adam202 yea, getting your rolls on a bow is brutal. I found a triple GA sword with dex, max life and vul thank goodness I didn't brick it, but it's so much harder I feel to get that heartseeker roll on bows.
I failed to get an any roll temper of my choosing on 3 max level items. That's a 1 in 4 chance failing 18 times in a row. Felt great.

The problem is that its not weighted. 5 or more possibilities cost as much as an option with 3. Blizz math this season is 33% = 20%! Like if we are forced with limited rolls increase the ones that are harder to get...

I found fast traveling to another town often gets me a different re-roll. If you stay at the same vendor and it's doing that you'll almost never get a different roll.

This is exactly how I feel now. Whenever I get a GA item I’m not even excited, I just hope it doesn’t get bricked so I can use it.
I really wish you could get more rerolls by spending a bunch of the smithing resources or gold, my best staff I have got completely bricked yesterday and ive yet to find anything NEARLY as good. same shit happened to my buddy on rogue.

They will definitely address this I think. Something like increase the free temper limit to 10+ then a cost after that to temper but make the cost somewhat significant. Or an item like adding sockets but it adds a temper attempt. They'll do something.

They have to do something about this. After all the amazing re-works we got, this nearly over shadows them all. I can’t even get excited about a 3X greater affix drop anymore, because I panic about bricking it, with the same roll 4 times in a row!!
Every time I click to speed up the temper I get the exact same roll. 95% of the time. Just let it roll.
they should let you isolate the item enchantment and just RNG on the percentage
i love that we can brick items like this and its cause the reroll system has NO safety measure or like weight system in terms of you rerolling , it's insane
Did this on my assassin last night with 4 different full weapon sets that were damn near perfect and kept getting duration every single temp
This happened to me 2 times, and both gears stuck with "damage to distant". The tempering system definitely not random, but more favorable towards "damage to distant"

Especially since Ancestrals can be tempered with two affixes, the devs should make it so no reroll can spit out the same stat it last spat out, for at least 1 roll, if not 2 (again, specifically with Ancestrals at the very least). Perhaps 1 for Sacreds and 2 for Ancestrals? We only have 7 tries total to get the 2 affixes we want, and we're rolling with a minimum of 4 possibilities per attempt, or more if theres a noteworthy variance in the potential of the stat, my key example being +1 extra shot of Imbuement vs +2.
The amount of times ive had this happen is crazy. I'm a software engineer and I'm completely convinced that they're using either a low-quality approach to randomness or the shit ones that no one wants are significantly weighted heavier than others. All random numbers generated by software is pseudo-random. However, some methods are less likely to generate unique values and whatever they're doing appears to be just that.
Me with vulnerable on my HS rogue. Kept getting cutthroat crap. Decided to "trick" my rng, and unequip my HS pants and swap HS for a cutthroat skill. Kind of works. Vulnerable in 4 rolls 😂
I like how each time it grow higher, literally. I wish this happened to my offhand where I want to roll projectile to cast twice, but my first roll was the lowest one and ... IM SCARED af to roll it again. Problem is, that offhand has 2 GA's on it and one is a CDR. That is super rare to comeby and expensive. All stats are good ones so I can't just risk bricking it. FYI, the difference between lowest roll and highest, when you masterwork it to max is actually 9%. Idk what if it "crits" but it goes even higher. So Im losing quite a bit.

I think there's just a good chance for that to happen. If I don't get what I want on the first roll. Every once in a while I'll do an off pick for one of my rolls and go back and I'll usually get what I want.
Right? This is definitely my main complaint, and why I definitely don't understand why people are hating on the idea of tempering rerolling. Bricked so many perfect greater affix items for my barb with no way back, then they shadow nerfed the Blood Maidens drop rate of greater gear so, just double fugged.

Didn't they add bad luck protection in D3 for enchanting? As in if you rolled off of something you had a lower chance of getting that same secondary? Seems like a no brainer if you're rerolling it should have a lower chance of rolling the same 'current' temper.
I bricked 10 two-hand maces in row. Keep getting duplicate rolls on all 10. I think the tempers are weighted, or just broken.
Pro tip: if you get the same roll twice, back all the way out of the screen. Not a lock but better than what he’s doing.

Yeah happens to me all the time they have to reword the tempering but it’s nice. It just needs to be perfected a bit it’s not like it’s bad.
I for sure think there are different weightings based on the the better affix's in mastercrafting.
Tempering doesn't feel random, once you get your first roll it locks you into that same attribute. This happens to me every single time

I’ve rolled multiple times now, on an option that only has 3 things it can roll. It’s hit 1 option 5 times in a row, out of 3 choices.. an that’s on multiple pieces it’s happened. Feels great when you hit them first or second but getting the same thing 5 times in a row on a roll with only 3 choices wtf

Dude I had a triple greater affix sword and I was trying to temper on bash cleave and bricked a 9:25 triple greater affix sword it's happened on a sword a ring and a helmet so far infuriating
i bricked 5 peices of armour with only the blizzard affix b2b everytime. at that point i jumped back on my barb

I bricked 17 different pieces. I got every affix BUT ball lightning at least a dozen times, but no ball lightning. There are 5 options. 1 in 5. 20%. Bricked 17 pieces of gear.
For rogue its getting perfect rain of arrows damage rolls 6 times when going for crit damage

Bro this happened to me yesterday, I learned to not be so invested in getting a good roll because there’s some type of mechanic that realizes which roll we want the least and will 3 or quadruple 😂 (Anyone got a clan I can join, I play everyday)
Let me pick what tempering to place on there, expand the range of what it could possibly roll as, and give me 3 chances at rolling it if they're going to keep the hardcap. (IE, let me pick heartseeker casts twice but only give me 3 chances at a high roll on it). I've bricked so many items this week because of missing out on vulnerable damage....
Nobody using dud pieces to get rid of duplicate rolls and here's me getting both wanted stats within 4 rerolls 🤣
This is exactly my biggest problem with S4. I've done this many times with 1 and 2X greater affix items. The entire "loot reborn" season is ruined purely by gambling.
I feel like the game would be better if they let us pick the exact affix we tempered, which stat crits on a masterwork, or what a stat rerolled to and at most let RNG determine the percentages. I like grinding for GAs, it was initially exciting anytime I saw one drop, but now I dread taking it to the forge, because I've bricked so many.
I bricked an as close to a perfect helm as I've ever seen drop with five consecutive horrible temper stats. The same stat with just varying degrees of suck. I had to delete the item immediately just so I wouldn't have to look at it in my chest.
Doing this for Heartseeker Rogue. Cutthroat temper for Vulnerable damage probably bricked more than 30 good items because of it. Lmao
This is why the weight of complaints are only held so high. Unless they are buttering your biscuit. Malcontent is always high in no matter what.
Dude i rolled +2 shadow imbuement charges 5 times in a row and bricked my 2 GA ring for rapid fire. Havent played since.
I'd be more thrilled to grind through the end game if I actually had a say on what my build is. I can't really play the game. I have to choose a build I find online and commit to it. I have to pray I've done my research adequately enough and that the build holds up, because in order for it to work in the first place I need to grind countless dungeons to get gear that's vaguely worth tempering. Then, when I get an item that can work for my build, it's a literal slot machine for tempering. I like Helltides, I like playing the game, but getting to endgame is simply not enjoyable for me.
My issue is I’m not even rerolling for greed… I’m just rolling to get the stat that works for my build. At this point I’d take a min roll with the stat I want if it meant I got to keep my item because I keep bricking good items that took me a long time to find and it’s a big bummer that’s really affecting my enjoyment of the season. Maybe 5 rerolls per temper? A lot of times I’ll reroll for one and then not have enough rerolls for the other.
I've noticed that when you skip the temper it pops the same one more than if you don't. Not sure if it's true but I stopped skipping.
