- * Just so you know, with recent events in mind, I started my walk with two litres of water, printed maps, and with Google maps enabled, with 100% charge on my phone* What a great day trip from Malaga. Just 30 minutes from the centre of Malaga, a stunning hike into the mountains, but where is everyone? I have the place to myself.

What an absolute joy of a video and adventure! This is one of the great things about Spain that most tourists are unaware of - they have vast networks of wilderness paths and lots of space for everyone so close to major destinations. Keep these coming mate, fantastic stuff!
It's a truly beautiful country.
Yeah steve and Alicia video of malaga was awesome with the walk on side of cliffs
As you were taking the hike in today’s video; I was thinking about Dr Michael Mosley whose body was found today after going missing on a hike on a Greek island. RIP.
My thoughts too - condolences to the Mosely family.
nobody there they are all lying on the beaches
This is the love (and the danger, as recently shown with the sad loss of Dr Michael Mosley here in Greece) of walking wild... Lovely video, yet again, Scott!
Scott I will fall out with you, if you keep showing deep drops of hill (mountain) sides, it does my blood pressure no good at all. You were nearly as bad as Steve Marsh 😂.
On a serious note thank you for a great video really enjoyed watching.
'Unless we get torrential downpours, which are rare in Scotland......' ;-)
School of deadpan humour!
I’m Watching This From Malaga Costa Del Sol Airport
Thank you for the video. It must have been quite a difficult trek in the heat and wind. Gat a strap put on your hat for future walks like that! I was watching this as the news came in about Michael Mosley, and I shuddered at how so easily your trek could have turned into disaster. Take care of yourself please.
That’s excellent advice. Things can go very wrong in the blink of an eye 😢😢
Those paths looked quite difficult in places, and very isolated.
" a scorcher here today '.
Here it's June and we weakened, putting the heating on for 2 hours.
Envious.
The sign says nothing about poking trees with big stick. It says: "The picking of carobes is prohibited except by authorized persons."
Beautiful walk, but I wouldn’t do it alone it looked scary in parts.
Great video as always, but 'walking uphill' should be avoided whenever possible once you reach a certain age :) Keep up the good work taking us to places we'd never normally see.
When we reach that 'certain age' it is ALL downhill! 🙂
I think you are the right age to remember the failed UK soap Eldorado. It was filmed in the town of Coin, which is 35km west of Malaga. Apparently the set is still there. The only disappointment I had when I was there was visiting a little zoo, or Biopark as they called it, in Fuengirola. I wasn't expecting London Zoo, but it is small. Walked around twice in just over an hour, including stops to take pictures.
Where is everyone? Your up a mountain not picadilly circus😂
I don't think you can eat "fresh" olives - aren't they too bitter? I think they need to be cured. And as for bringing back an olive tree these days I suspect one of the Brexit bonuses is that you would be relieved of it at the airport upon returning to the UK. Never mind, they are easily available at garden shops in the UK - I saw some a couple of days ago.
Blue face and kilt for the scottish walking 😂
Scott, the fashion police are hot on your trail, Run!! Viable white sox with shorts were last in fashion when your team played in Europe!!!, no thx required, run!! 😅😅😅
26:45 Gatwick literally means "goat farm".
Bit silly you doing this and being alone in that heat after wbat happened to Michael Mosley, your a vulnerable man
It was filmed last month weeks before that happened to Mr Mosley.
Respects, but you don’t have to cancel because of some else’s misfortune
I thought it was only Mad Dogs and Englishmen that went out in the mid-day sun, but nope - Scotsmen as well! In shorts and trainers and nae hat, no less. How did you not have an epic sunburn at the end of that trek? 😉 I go scarlet just in daylight! These days I trek with sunglasses, shemagh, hat, poncho, and always army boots and long trews....
Chicken egg and chips. The breakfast of champions
That looks like hard work at times but hugely rewarding and it builds up a great appetite for the evening relaxing with a well earned drink.
In the words of Billy Connolly I think they need a bit more wind up there!
……. itˋs a goat farm, it’s full of goats 😳, and I ˋ m sure, some of them are bilingual 🤔!
I swear, I heard some of them bark 🙄😏😬🤪🤣!
11:08 Yikes, this specific part reminds me of the infamous "Nutty Putty" story where a man got stuck in a cave in Utah, basically forever. It was impossible to "fish" him out due to the dimensions he got himself stuck in. Gnarly story.
"This is nice, I'm enjoying this."
That's how I feel when I watch your videos.
take steve with you on a trip might be funny
Be careful in the heat. Think of poor Dr. Michael Mosely RIP!
Got to agree. Southern Spain will be warm in June and although it’s higher up I hope you had plenty of water. It’s not something I would do and I would have thought your walk in France last year would have made a certain impression !
Thank you for your great videos. Please take care when walking in that heat while alone. Hope you let someone know where you are heading.
This video reminds me of home. I’m from Perth Australia and the landscape is identical to where I grew up.
Hi Scott. Great hiking trip, but i must admit,i like your home land scenery WAY better than this "dry" boring one😂..I guess thats cause i live in the middle east, where even green is never actually green.🤔.Like the saying goes: if you can count the trees in a forest--it's not a real forest.
I love to do hikes like this. Going into an area to visit a POI and getting totally lost so that by the time I find that POI I have seen the entire area.
You doing this in running shoes? Sir... that is not good. That will cost you your ancles in the long run. Get a proper pair of hiking boots please. It will also help against exhaustion. If you have a good and solid walking foundation things get a lot more comfortable.
This part of Spain is a very beautiful and rugged place to hike in
but it has very beautiful scenery thank you for your great tour.
🇪🇦👋👋🇬🇧
They're carob trees, Scott
Looked so dry..... but beautiful buildings and mountains.
Almonds! You zoomed in on an outer husk, these start splitting and shrivelling around Aug-Sept when they gently bash the tree branches with a stick to allow the nuts to fall on the floor which has been covered with a cloth instead of picking the crop by hand. They're mostly grown in Alicante where they thrive so in this instance, maybe they are grown there solely as a reforestation project?
My Spanish wife Tells me that the sign says the picking carobes Is prohibited Accept by Authorised persons
Where is the sound of the cicadas ?
It only takes around 10 minutes to get to Raja Ancha from the icona park. I'm amazed to see someone getting so lost. Also, cueva oscura is right next to Raja ancha. If you carried on walking up, you would have reached El Santo, why would you go down to the village and then back up to the Necropolis only to end up back in the same place? That's just walking for no reason. 😅
The trees are almond trees. They’re harvested by spreading sheets beneath them and then belting the branches to bring down the nuts.
The prehistoric graves were interesting. In the nearby town of Antequera are their ‘big brothers’, dolmens, the ‘walk-in’ cores of burial mounds. Gets you out of the sun for a while.
Excellent video but have you considered the potential benefits of having a map?
4Neolithic picnic -area". Quite.
Fantastic video keep them going I'm from Paisley where in Paisley do you stay 👍👍👍
Andalucia is wonderful. If you return try and go a bit further along the railway to Alora. It's a hiltop town with breathtaking views and a brisk, steep walk will take you to the remains of an old Moorish castle.
I like all your videos, but I'm living in Spain for some time now and therefore I really enjoy your videos from your travels in Spain 👍🏻😃. Your videos are really good, keep up the good work from. 😃👏🏻😃
was it nisperos fruit ! you held one , a late one! but they have already harvested in april/mai😘great video👌sorry ! but thats is not carob trees ! just said ! you should answer ! I am following your videos scott ! great by the way🥰👋😎
Just before the end, you showed (accidentally) a rooftop full of radio aerials - I'd say that was either the local broadcasting station or an embassy!
Nice one, Scott, but please: don't hike alone and get some decent walking boots that support your ankles! 😲
Good video, but easy to see how you can get lost in the heat even a short distance from civilization. RIP Michael Mosely
For those worried about the safety of hiking after the loss of Michael Mosley, Scott is an experienced hiker who regularly walks incredible distances. He is not someone on holiday going for a walk. He also researches his hikes before going.
Very nice location but looks way too warm and ard plus the planes would do your head after awhile 🥵 ✈️ it's nice though even with the small flaws :)
Great vlog and wonderful scenery. Glad you came out the other side ok. 👍
Watch out for ticks on your walks, Scott. There's a little tool I would humbly suggest you carry which quickly removes them safely.
great video as usual scott but i think you should take your viewers up the whangie at the back of the kilpatricks as its every bit as interesting as that first ravine you were in.
Got to agree with the majority great video.i found the street oranges in greece very sour, how was yours?...your canera seems to be very good quality also.
02:33 That man was obviously saying "Hit that like button, subscribe and turn on the notifications."
Absolutely beautiful place..visited malaga many years ago and remember how beautiful the area around malaga was...appreciate your video scott...😊🍋
Chicken and egg on same dish? Now that's a family meal :-) But does it answer which came first haha
I live just outside of Málaga but have never visited this area. I must change that. On a day when it's not too hot!
Very interesting video with wonderful scenery. Not easy filming whilst climbing up and down uneven steps. I like the spontaneity of not-quite-knowing-where-I'm-going - often that's how you find interesting things you didn't expect.
Perdon(a) = sorry. I think he at least knows you are some influencer showing up
Scott…please don’t get hot and sunburned and don’t get lost during your hike 😮🥵
Thank you very much, Scott. So the purple flowered tree is the Jacaranda tree.
0:12 -- Это что? Электробус. А доморощенные российские урбанисты нам рассказывают, что такого в Европе нет, и там все ездят на троллейбусах, хотя они, в основном, только в Щвейцарии
That was an adventure being there alone , looked a but dodgy the terrain. We have been to Malaga muti times just stayed to the main areas so seeing these are good
where your youtube video on sunday planes trains everything?
Those trees were Almond trees. (Almendros.)
My Spanish wife Tells me that the sign says the picking carobes Is prohibited Accept by Authorised persons
@@londo776 Yes. that's exactly what the sign says. Your point is?
@@Justino_Nicolás Scott want to know what the sign said That is my point Now go back to sleep
@@londo776 Tell Scott then. Not me. Mamporrero.. ask your wife
Sunny side eggs for breakfast and potatoes always enjoyable for me. Coffee too. ☕☕
Use the Google lens app on your phone for future horticultural identity quandaries.
Love this one scott, a lot different to normal but it's fantastic to see the true country, I'm not a beach body I go abroad to explore
Estas caminatas los andaluces preferimos hacerlas al amanecer o al atardecer, evitamos el mediodía y las primeras horas de la tarde. Los naranjos de la calle son ornamentales y sus naranjas son agrias y desagradables.
Do another video with steve marsh maybe a time table challenge? Or maybe another TH-camr
Gorgeous views. I’ve never seen a Jacaranda tree. Looks beautiful.
Jacarandas, like Peppercorns are actually from South America, so not surprisingly found in Spain..!
They abound here in Australia often arriving during our 19th century gold rushes...
They are so beautiful, living in Cyprus, we do see quite a few of them😊
Use a different route during hunting season or you could get shot at.😅
Spanish still have Siesta...
Think you were just plane spotting 😂😂😂
Great content, just extend the captions longer
Beautiful tranquil little town and unspoilt by "development" ❤
Good video, thank you for sharing 😊
Was there way back in the 80s. Awesome place and such peace. Thanks Scott
21:49 I was thinking "don't pick fruit from the trees" simply because you stole a low hanging lemon on the streets a bit earlier
My Spanish wife Tells me that the sign says the picking carobes Is prohibited Accept by Authorised persons
Must be a Scottish thing. I love doing walks like this in Mallorca. Sorry, no blogs from me, but I love your channel and Steve's (and Alicia's) .
What actreasure to find the oranges on the way back down. You can't beat a fresh orange in amazing surroundings. So many roads still to travel. We may all be in our 'more mature' years but let the adventures continue. Looking forward to many more videos from you both. 👍
Love your content Scott 🏴 From Tj in East Kilbride
Loving this video, always nice to see away from the main resorts. J is pronounced "ch" as in Loch if you want to improve your Spanish. I'm just learning for my next trip to Barcelona.
Hmmm...off the well-trodden trail, hiking alone in a warm climate in unsuitable footwear and relying on phone signal while in the unfamiliar countryside...some interesting decisions here. Can't help wondering why at the very least you don't just buy a map of the area you're exploring? It's a claimable business expense after all...
Yikes! Hope you let someone know where you're going when you do hikes on your own. Recent sad events draw this into sharp focus.
We love the Valencia region. We will have to return and include it on our vlog one day.
Hello dear. I have to say that your videos are showing as very grainy on my phone. As I don't have a problem with other videos from other channels I just wondered what sort of camera phone are you using! Safe travels. 🙋👍🙏🏴🇮🇪
Been to them all Benalmadena by far my favourite especially the marina 🍺🏴
I initially thought of Wenatchee, hehehe.
Poor olive farmers of Andalucia, no harvest for three years, but you still had plenty of living wild plants around you in spite of the prolonged drought.
i would have done this hike with you.
Might do this myself in a couple of weeks. I know the planes come right over Pizzara
no people, no wildlife?
I appreciate the effort you put into this walk but the picture quality is way off. It's a shame as it looked like one of your best adventures but I was seeing pixelated blocks on my screen. It sounds like you had plenty of water and you put your hat on too so respect to you for being sensible.
Thorns, wind, midgets, Don,t forget snakes ? Going quit early, siesta is growling to be ou there !
I too have been reminded of how fragile we humans are when it comes to taking off into the wilds hiking on ones own in the blistering heat. Whilst I enjoy your forays immensely, please do be careful Scott.
Fab video, I love those parts of Spain. We went to Montserrat last year (check it out would make a great video destination) and the scenery is so dramatic as is the steep train ride up to the top!
Those aren't carobs, they're almond trees. The carob fruit is about the length of your index finger with much longer leaves. I used to stay at a Portuguese place that had dozens of carob trees and a large almond tree, plus a colossal lemon tree amongst other fruity things.
My Spanish wife Tells me that the sign says the picking carobes Is prohibited Accept by Authorised persons
@@londo776 In Portugal they fall before they are collected.
That was brilliant Scott my idea of heaven. A few beers after your hike would of gone down well
Beautiful!
Spain is amazing. Spain away from the tourists is paradise. Brilliant video Scott, really enjoyed it!
Almonds?
You should come hike in brazil Scott! Much love
We've got a Scotts man...exotic....lol love it xxx STAY SAFE
Great Video Scott
