Thank you Karl. So sorry to hear you've left the physical world today. Your music and all that you stood for made things immeasurably better. So much love to you and your family.
This "band" was so underrated. Their music is not only TRANSCENDENT, but SUBLIME. Something about their songwriting that hits you on a kind of spiritual level. 4/12/24 PostScript: Karl Wallinger was a genius -- and he was "World Party." Sadly, he just passed away from a stroke on March 10, 2024.
“Prevent” is the absurd name of the deluded uk governments anti radicalisation project.. .. as a GP ( doctor) I feel profoundly that more attention is warranted to physical PREVENTION aka stop or postpone ill-health whenever possible. My heart goes out to Karl & everyone who has lost a loved one - wondering “ could this have been predicted (& prevented)” The answer is yes. And yes again. But doctors suck at it
This is 1 of the best albums every made, every song is a MEGA HIT and that is so very rare, I had this album(lost it somewhere in storage) and must of played it 1000"s even better in my old car with a serious stereo system so I could hear every instrument and word crystal clear... so WE ALL SAY THANK YOU WORLD PARTY !! For giving us your children lol
So glad I got to see WP several times over the years. Got to meet Karl up in Boulder and he was the sweetest man! RIP Karl-your talent and generosity were unmatched. 🎶🎵🌎🥳
Absolutely love this, not least because of Penny, the most perfect Labrador ever. She and the duck behaved impeccably on a Sunday morning near King's Cross station. Great to have a living memory of her. Thanks to World Party.
Been listening to alot of world party lately, grew up with goodbye jumbo and bang!. Mellows me out a bit and makes me realize things aren't always bad. Thank you Karl for the music.
Karl is very nice. I'm press and I hung out with him in Dallas. He had a brain tumor and nearly died, recovered, thank goodness, they toured in 2013, did you see then then? LOL oh I see you posted this 5 yeard ago. Just interested.
@@Mark.H3721LOL, I’m sure he meant it was the 3rd time seeing him/them. I saw them the first time on what I think was the same tour (I’m in LA). And sadly, it looks like it may have been the last time. He hasn’t toured or recorded since then, and according to Wikipedia, the WP website hasn’t been updated since then, either. Although nothing official has been announced (AFAIK), but I think he may have retired.
Philosophically the underlying sentiment in this song is so RIGHT ON. Gratitude to the Mother Planet for making it all possible - ALL of it! As Aldous Huxley said ‘Gratitude is… Heaven itself.’
It’s needed more than ever. Thank God and thank Wallinger for this extraordinarily exquisite work. I only feel bad for the people who will never know it.
World Party songs have always been on my mix tapes. Be it a road trip or a week at the lake. Been listening for so long I’m still listening when the stereo switch says OFF. How lucky am I? Very.
This album has not gotten old, even though it's about to turn 25. I can still remember the record store recommendation from Randy's Music and Movies in Edmond, OK when I was a sophmore in college.
I first heard this wonderful song when I was 19 years old. At 52 years old, I have experienced the things described in Karl's words here. He was so young when he wrote these words. Are you really alive?
I have loved World Party ever since hearing Ship Of Fools, "back in the day." He wrote so many great songs with wonderful messages, but I think this one sums up Karl's message the best. Thank you for your gift of great music, Karl. You will be greatly missed.
Released in 1990?! Seriously? Awesome how this kinda music is getting back in again. I honestly thought this song was a random, modern indie song when I heard it like a month ago on the radio. (On a station that's known to play music like that.)
Well I'm lying in the dew And I'm staring at the stars Yeah He laid me down this blanket Now I call this blanket grass And the sun is my alarm And the moon she makes me dream And my food is wild honey pie And water from the stream, thank you world Ah thank you world Thank you world Ah thank you world For giving me my children Ah thank you world For keeping me alive Ah thank you world Yeah yeah yeah Are you getting the vibe? Yeah Yeah Yeah Are you really alive?
Brilliant!!!!
Perfect description...and every once in a while when he's singing certain songs - he sounds like Mick Jagger- same pitch, tone and intonations...for a strong example listen to 'All Come True'...!
@@johnbada2279 how anyone can miss it is more worrying... cloth ears, perhaps? I must play Goodbye Jumbo now. Have a great day... Love from Cumbria, England.
+Daryl Rosevear..I concur!! .It seems the "music industry" has been promoting mostly "auto tune & lip syncing" for over a decade or so AND when an entire generation aspires to be nothing more than "reality TV stars"....welp, that pretty well sums it up.
NO! THANK YOU KARL! I love you are our secret but hate it, that you are our secret! Beatles/Stones/Bowie/Dylan/Van The Man? Thats the quality of Karl Wallanger! CANNOT RECOMMEND WORLDPARTY ENOUGH, FEEL THE VIBE!!!
Did no one ever notice this is almost a copy of Big Barn Bed (Wings)? th-cam.com/video/y3BxX_sSF8I/w-d-xo.html Maybe McCartney could file a lawsuit - but I think It's good and wise he didn't. To my opinion most cases are very questionable. It's just that music is inspired by other music, there's nothing wrong with that.
Thank you Karl. So sorry to hear you've left the physical world today. Your music and all that you stood for made things immeasurably better. So much love to you and your family.
You left us too soon, but you leave behind timeless music. Rest well sir. Rest well.
Some deaths hit harder than others and this is a really hard one. Thank goodness we can seek solace in an incredible legacy.
Thank you, Karl. Rest in Peace my man...
Thank you Karl! Hope you’re on your way to new creative adventures. We’ll really miss you here on Earth.
One of my favourite tracks. Thanks, Carl. May you RIP.

Damn, so sad to hear that. Yes, World Party were sublime and spiritual, such an uplifting piece of the early 90s. RIP Karl.
😢 You brought so much to music . Your spirit and creativity always resonated with me from day one . RIP Karl ❤

Oh yeah, yeah and yeah!!
Takes on a new life in concert. Fab song.
A great time to hear this song for the first time was when recovering from a major operation in hospital last March. Thank you.

Karl Wallinger
Going to see him for the 3rd time tonight. I think the music is timeless, I could listen to it everyday.

Eight thousand one hundred hits, that's an absolute disgrace for such class.
