This right here is Nadal in God mode. I figure he felt the same frustration v Federer at Wimbledon in their previous 2 finals there. Both excel on their surfaces.
Amazingly Federer leads in the first set ahead a break but loses 5 games in a row them leads again by a break in the second but let it slip and wins the tie breaker The third set he was down and couldn't come back Federer should've won this one
You just summarized the fedal rivalry in the 2000’s. Federer should’ve won the 2006 Rome final, 2008 Hamburg final, the 2008 Wimbledon final, and the 2009 Australian open final. If he wins just one important point in each of those matches, the rivalry would be evened out at 20-20. Nadal won virtually all of their close match up’s in the 2000’s except for the 2005 Miami final and 2007 Wimbledon final. Fed just had a massive mental block against nadal during that time and by the time he figured nadal out in 2017 it was too late and he was too old. Should’ve switched racquets and committed to hitting over his backhand much sooner
@@bryangregory48 I can't agree for Wimbledon 2008. Federer was down 2 sets. Even if he took the second set, he still would have had a very tough match to play in order to win. From 2 sets down, he actually made great work to come back and try to win the match. But he could have easily lost in the 4th set, he was down 2 match points, although not consecutive ones. He also never had a match point in the fifth set. For Australian Open 2009 I also can't completely agree. Yes he had chances to take the 3rd set, he had break points. But he never got to a set point and even if he took the third set, he still had to play at least one more set on an incredibly high level to give himself a chance to win. He did get to a fifth set, but he didn't play good enough to even be competitive in it. In Australian Open 2012 he actually did go a break up in the third set, but still lost the match in 4 sets. For 2006 Rome and 2008 Hamburg I can agree. Especially the match in Rome 2006. He had consecutive match points there.
@@bryangregory48No way to the 08 Wimbledon Final. I think Nadal was better there and deserved the win. He was two sets up and had a match point I believe.
Haven't seen this match until today. Making a medical timeout at the right time ... sportsmanship ??? Where was his problem after that. He moved like a beast, He gave the problem to Roger, clever desicion. That's one of the reasons I admire Roger. He never did this to anyone. I myself made this experience one year ago leading 6:1 and my opponent made a toilet-break, came back about 7-8 minutes later. I lost my rythm and the whole match. You may say, you have to stay calm, doing the right things and keep on winning, but in my opinion it's cheating, sorry.
did you see how much pain he was in when he was getting treated? he took a medical timeout because his leg was in great pain. Incredible he was able to comeback in that set after the problem with the leg, give the man some credit. absolutely no intention of disrupting Federer. That's what medical timeouts are for: when ur injured.
@@nihilus1626 like how he conviniently had a hip injury that made him pull out for all of 2023, or in 2021 RG where he conviniently was injured against novak then spent the rest of the season off? stop hating, nadal is one of the most fair guys on tour
@@oscartracey5364 Injured against Novak at Roland Garros 2021?injured my leg LOL. Nadal's fans live in a fantasy world where every defeat of their idol, especially on clay, must be caused by an injury. His absence after his defeat at Roland Garros 2021 is due to cowardice, not the alleged injury. Nadal is a coward and cannot play at Wimbledon because he knows full well that Novak would destroy him on the grass
Madrid was originally a hardcourt 1000 and at the end of the year, it was actually replaced with shanghai (shanghai originally being the tour finals from 05-08). Hamburg is still around, just a lesser tournament since 09

Cmon dude Rafa on clay is not comparable
Watching playing federer is something of sublime...
Rafa a nightmare on clay as usual..Roger fought very hard..
