One of my favorite jokes about art style is actually in dragon ball. Krillien who is famous drawn with out a nose is fighting a dude who’s gimmick is that he is gross and stinky ‘giving him an advantage because his foes always have to fight with one hand clenching their nostrils’ and he is kicking krilliens butt until Goku yells ‘you don’t even have a nose!’ And krillien is like ‘gasp! You are right!!!’
My favourite meta-joke about the limitations of animation or artstyle was in the series Yin Yang Yo, where the badguy threats "I'm going to rip your ears off!" and the characters pass their hands through the gap between the ears and their heads and say "yeah, good luck with that".
I also love the colors in Hilda!! I’ve just recently finished season 2 and the movie after not having watched it in a while and it’s been so nice returning to this show; it’s really lovely 😭. I think this show is one that I like to put on when I want something cozy, but I haven’t necessarily rushed to watch through it. I’m excited to start S3 soon though!

Hilda is based on a series of graphic novels and while there are a few story arcs than run through and across the seasons it's mostly episodic albeit with a strong sense of continuity between episodes. Unfortunately, I read the graphic novels before watching so I was 'hooked' before I saw this episode...
Hilda is very cozy, even if the subject matter can get abit darker. And funfact: hilda was originally a book! Im not sure is season 3 bas based on tho books thought. Also watch the movie after season 2 but before 3
Oooooh I'm so happy I found this. Every couple of months I do these rounds of looking if someone watched one of these obscure shows I love and every time I get discourage and stop looking for a year only to find I missed someone who started just as I stopped looking and most likely dropped it after a few episodes. So pleeease, if you enjoyed this show then stick with it, you won't regret it. It's truly a hidden gem and something special.
Hilda is a nice watch! It takes a bit to build as the episodes go along, but I think the setups put in season 1 are fairly well done to lead into the others. Glad to hear you're liking so far, the color palette is beautiful, and I like how it brings the look of the show together visual wise too. It is definitely cozy without a doubt, and I can't wait to see what you think of future episodes. Man I can't believe that at the end of this season Woodman swoops in at the last minute to save Hilda and Twig from the huge creature that was staring in between the mountains in that one shot in this episode!
God I love this show and I am so excited to watch it again alongside you :D I love that so many people called is comfy, it definitely is a cozy comfy show, and definitely made for chamomile tea or hot chocolate :3 The animation style is one of the things that make it so cozy, I agree on that. The lines always looked like graphite or pencil-drawn ones to me, which makes it sometimes seem like the entire series is hand-drawn. And just as an aside, hopefully with no implied spoilers: Watching reactions of this show is still rewarding for people who already watched all of it. Even now, I still notice new things or see them in a new context. I cannot wait for you to see more of it :)
To add to that comment you made about the jokes like "i dont even have hands!", it reminds me of in lego monkie kid mei was like "this would be easier if i had fingers :/" because they were legos (you should watch lego monkie kid)

Hilda is like cup of hot choco on a rainy autum evening. Perfect title to calm the senses after Murder Drones.
And another well-written written piece turned animated series.
Even as a grown man this is one of my favorite shows. It's a nice comforting show even when you're feeling down.
