Dude the making fake melodic loops for chopping that specifically sound like crate digs is freaking brilliant! No drums, in key, make close to the tempo you wanna use.. That's such a good idea. On first glance it would seem redundant, but really you could surprise yourself if you start digging into the custom chops. Inspiration +1.
