Speaking from personal experience in an office, i think there is more depth to this than you give it credit. No one likes HR. HR rep is always the most annoying, soulsucking person in any office. It doesn't matter if you are salesperson, an accountant, an engineer or IT depot. Everyone hates the HR rep. Even toby hated toby. It wouldn't matter who the HR rep would be for dunder mifflin scranton, whether it's toby or any one else. Michael would inevitably hate them. Even jim hated toby MORE when he got promoted. With that said....holly was the one exception. She was the one and only HR rep that michael couldn't bring himself to hate (and not from the lack of trying). Yes, she disliked toby too. Because even HR reps hate HR reps. Props to nel, she tried hard to give toby a chance but he ruined his own chances with even so much as being her friend.
Seriously Holly is so perfect for micheal, she made him feel like he's a normal person with all the jokes they make, all the roast they do to toby too ,even their rap makes Eminem shiver lol
I legit cried when Holly found him on the roof. The fact that they are so connected, she predicted which way he was going, then at the Chinese restaurant, then the roof, and brought them together. Its what I hope to have one day with someone
It's ironic how Holly being so similar to Michael helped him become more grounded and mature. As oppose to Jan who made Michael insecure and even more goofy as a result.
Sometimes it’s more mature to embrace your inner child & goofy spirit. Their shared sense of humor and love of laughter gave Michael the security and reassurance he needed. “No matter what happens, as long as I’m with her and we’re smiling, everything will be okay.” Michael learned to let go some of his insecurities and self-destructive ways when he decided to follow his joy and move to be with Holly. I loved seeing their character development unfold 😊
That scene where Holly finds Michael on the roof should be in some sort of pantheon of TV comedy acting. It's probably my favorite scene from the whole series. When Michael tells Holly how much he's missed her, I can see the pain in his eyes. He'd waited so long to be with her again. Then Holly finally admitted she still had feelings for him it was such a weight lifted off his heart. I still get goosebumps when they kiss.

While i lost my taste for both jim and pam, i love how mile was the only one who supported pam's art exhibit, the one who put faith in her as a sales rep when he left the company, fought for her to have a sales position at dunder mifflin despite his bias for ryan, the one to save her relationship with her grandma and she would be the last person to say goodbye to him.
The simple fact that Holly got down on her knees with Michael when he proposed…that just spoke to how much she cared for him and his vulnerability. Also how quirky she is😂❤️

Loving Holly made Micheal grow up. The way he handled see and interacting with her and her then boyfriend at Company picnic was a testament to the changes Micheal made to grow into a man that knew who he wanted and had the patience to wait until she was ready to give them another chance. Which happen when Micheal overreacted to Holly not leaving her boyfriend after an ultimatum to leave then boyfriend because he was unwilling to commit. Micheal overreacted as usual but later he explaining and apologizing to several persons(but mentions for Holly)why he overreacted because of his feelings but that he was wrong to do so, and need to get on with his life and let expectations go. This loving apology helped Holly(who still had unresolved feelings for Michael) to decide to take a break from current boyfriend to trying to figure out what she wanted. This led to them both realizing they (Micheal and Holly) were both ready and knew who they wanted to spend the rest of their lives with. Great actors, and great storytelling...

To be honest I don't think they would have ever ended up together if it wasn't for Jim. He was the one who gave Michael the great advice to not rush it. Michael rushed it with every other relationship he had, and he waited so long for Holly literally like two seasons and he was so patient and she came back to him
