부채춤의 원작인 '김백봉부채춤'은 평안남도의 역사와 문화를 기반으로 1954년 김백봉에 의해 창작된 작품으로 한국 전통춤의 근현대 과정 속에서 성장하고 꽃피운 우리나의 대표적인 춤이다.
평안남도 무형문화재 제3호로 지정되면서부터 기존의 부채춤으로 통용되던 작품명을 '김백봉부채춤'으로 명명하고 보유자 안병주에 의해 전승되고 있다.
양손에 부채를 들고 그려내는 부드러운 곡선과 음양의 조화가 매력적인 '김백봉부채춤'의 형태적 특징은 중후함,유연함,탄력성을 들수 있으며 한국적 정서가 깊게 묻어나는 독특한 예술미학적 기법등이 특징이다.
굿거리와 자진모리 장단으로 이루어진 반주음악은 흥겹고 경쾌한 리듬이 역동적인 춤사위로 창출되
며 八字형과 之字형으로 태극선과 포물선상의 곡선을 만들어가는 부채사위의 기본적 구조는 자연의 이치를 근본으로 삼아 묘사된다.

'Kim Baekbong Buchaechum', the original fan dance, was created by Kim Baekbong in 1954 based on the history and culture of Southern Pyeongan Province. This work is a representative dance of Korea that has grown and blossomed through modern and contemporary times.
As 'Kim Baekbong Buchaechum' was designated as the Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 3 in Southern Pyeongan Province, the name of the work was changed from Buchaechum
to 'Kim Baekbong Buchaechum', and it is handed down by Ahn Byeongju.
The morphological characteristics of 'Kim Baekbong Buchaechum', which are attractive in the harmony of yin&yang and soft curves are drawn with a fan in both hands, are profound, flexible, and resilient. In addition, the unique artistic and aesthetic technique that deeply reflects the Korean sentiment is characteristic of this dance.
The lively and cheerful rhythm of the accompaniment music composed of Gutgeori and Jajinmori is expressed in dynamic dance moves. And the basic structure of the fan movement that creates the Taegeuk and parabola in 八 and 之 shapes is based on the principles of nature.
