Wow, your whole setup looks very much like mine…. Except the droop-tip wings on my Kitfox 4 - 1200 won’t fit in the Hallmark trailer while mounted on the plane. Apparently I need a different trailer! Love your set up!
When you fold the wings back, the tip of the wings goes down, just over the elevator. The gas tank on the wings also tilts down with the wings and fuel will overflow over the gas cap if there is fuel in them.
For a new Series 7, will there be a problem fitting the sti model into a trailer? I dont know if all the models have the same dimensions when folded. I am new to STOL.
@@AymanRacing I believe you need at least an 8.5' for an STI. I recommend calling Kitfox and ask John, he told me that "Yes" you can fit an STI in a trailer "but" you need... a little wider? Call Kitfox they will be happy to help you.
I've been looking for better "wings folded width" numbers on the kitfox, another builder took measurements and posted ~110" for his width, not sure which model.. that seems ridiculous to me, having the width be so close to road legal but slightly over.. which model is yours, if you don't mind my asking?
This is a model IV. The trailer outer width is 101.5" and the inner width is 97". I have 1.5" of space at each end so that would make the width of the wings to be 94".
My guess is that more than 2 or 3 gallons will overflow. The other thing to consider is that the wing will hang from a bolt when folded and the weight of the fuel will try bend the wing down. So, it is a good practice to drain the tanks.
Awesome thanks for sharing Jim. Am new to stol world very much interested on same cost effective setup. May I know what specific aircraft model kit and trailer(if possible please provide details if any company customize like same). Also did you built aircraft from kit?
@@toadman506 Very good, this is a model IV. I did not build it but got it with only 37 hours of flight time. This trailer was originally made to haul custom cars to shows. It's 8' wide. I am new to STOL and fix wings also and enjoying it very much.
That takes 25 minutes. One thing to consider here is that before getting the plane back in the trailer, I always take the cowling off, check all the fluids and do a careful inspection, then put everything back in place so that next time that I fly, I know everything under the cowling is ready to go.
The trailer is an old trailer made to haul cars, the box 26'. The person that build the plane also builds custom cars for shows and I got plane and trailer as a package.
Great set up, What’s the design of that siphon your using? I have been holding gas cans over my head like a caveman and feel so silly seeing you with this great set up
That is awesome. I didn’t know the Kitfox had a folding wing model. Great video
All the Kitfox models fold the wings. I knew I could not afford a hangar so the folding wings was a must option for me.
Thanks for taking me flying! I enjoyed it!
Nice plane.....and music , very well done
The video looks great!
Great stuff. Like a ritual of flight!

The box of this trailer is 26'. Inside at the very end I have chairs, a table and a cabinet. I have about 2' of space at the end.
Wing fold is such an awesome feature. Saves so much money not needing a hanger. Why do you have to drain the fuel though?

k padre armarlo y desarmarlo y guardarlo en el trailer kisiera comprar uno

So if you don't need to move the camera every few minutes, how long to get set to fly?
How long to fold up and put away?
Do you think a 20' V nose trailer would be large enough? I'm currently trying to find the trailer without owning the plane yet lol
How wide of a trailer would you need for an STI

@Jim Sandoval thanks for the response Jim. Nice setup you've got there 👍
How long is that trailer?
Nice video. How much gas can you have in the wing tanks when you fold them? I didn't realize you had to drain them to fold.

@@jimsandoval7633 I heard if you use a tail stand, to keep the wings level this isn’t an issue.

The Aircraft is a Kitfox, Looks like an IV

How long does this process take, from the time you open the trailer door until you start the airplane engine?

Eu sou fã desse modelo que dobra as asas. Pena que aqui no Brasil não tem.
What make of trailer is that? Thanks!

Wich engine do you have? HP?
I had a Rotax 582 at the time, now it has a 912ULS

I use a what we call a jiggler and you can get at Lowes for $13 www.lowes.com/pd/STAR-Water-Systems-Thermoplastic-Transfer-Pump/1000678107
what size trailer is that?
8" wide but the frame of the door is a thick as the walls are. If the door frame is thicker than the walls, the plane will not fit through.
The kit for looks flimsy compared to just aircraft??
Could have been a beautiful video but you put it on fastfoward. A big NO 👎 NO
You can adjust the video speed in the settings if you want to watch it slower for some reason.
