My biggest dream is to become an fx makeup artist. Those guys are doing the thing I'll probably only ever dream of *Edit:* To everyone who shit talked me: thank you. You guys gave me so much motivation. I was just accepted into Cinema Makeup School's summer bootcamp 2, which only accepts about 12 students per start date (a total of about 36 students per year.) I'm also in talks with Vancouver Film School and plan on enrolling in their makeup design for film and television course, which is the best fx makeup course _in the world._ I'm actually typing this out as I'm getting ready to go work on a short film set as the head makeup artist. Yeah, I'm head makeup artist on two films right now. And I'm doing prom and bridal makeup for several people. My point is, chase your dreams. Go after them and DO NOT STOP. You'll get there. I promise you will.
I mean they're doing the thing I can only dream of too. Getting to work closely with Karen Gillian. But when it comes to your dream just hone your skills and network with the right people.
I thought the same before too. I am an an easily sweating person,so i was like... What if i was given(just an imagination tho) this part, and the crew have to add the paint on me like forever.
I studied film and television makeup and this is a pretty common practice, especially since movies are filmed over months and months it is hard to maintain “continuity” for really complex pieces like this. So making a prosthetic of the difficult pieces of this is really smart because if you remove it all properly and careful you can reuse or if the have the moulds they can make multiple moulds of the prosthetic. Makes application quicker and faster for the artists and helps to keep the consistency of the makeup throughout the movie.
@@potatogem18 I wonder how they did Mystique because Jennifer Lawrence complained that the "fumes" makes her ill that's why in the recent X Men she's wearing clothes and very little prosthetics. She annoys me.
L Could’ve used a number of methods or just using products that don’t smell as bad. It’s all very time consuming, especially if you have to repaint an image by hand over and over again over months of filming, becomes very difficult to maintain the same quality of work. But all industry professionals will always be taking pictures of every angle of their work so they’re able to replicate it exactly the next day for filming :)
L For Mystique it is almost definitely sheets of pros-aide transfers, which work kind of like temporary tattoos, but 3-D. That way all of the bumps would always be exactly the same.
I mean her performance was definitely worth her pay but she is just sitting still for a few hours here...for a couple mil? The artists deserve more than they are paid for sure

reminds me of Frieza when he was being put back together
My biggest dream is to become an fx makeup artist. Those guys are doing the thing I'll probably only ever dream of
*Edit:*
To everyone who shit talked me: thank you.
Twenty Paphonies |-/
Twenty Paphonies i'm sure you really trying hard to get what you excpect to be than sitting down and watching this video all day
Good luck lad
Zacky Cardozo actually watching these type of video is a great way to learn some stuffs about fx makeup. :)
Same, I just don't know how to get there
I mean they're doing the thing I can only dream of too. Getting to work closely with Karen Gillian.
But when it comes to your dream just hone your skills and network with the right people.
She just doesn't get enough recognition for how much she gives to the movies...also look at her expressionssss😍
I honestly didn't realize they were Prosthetics, i thought it was painted.
She deserves what they pay her for the part..... just for this....
Couldn't Have Said It Better 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
She also shaved her head
And she played her part flawlessly.
I mean her performance was definitely worth her pay but she is just sitting still for a few hours here...for a couple mil? The artists deserve more than they are paid for sure
Rhaegal it’s a joke bro.
Everyone knows actors don’t deserve to make millions of fucking dollars for probably less the effort than the average worker.
Artists and actress: 3-6 hours of makeup
God: dropping a lil rain Lmao
MiLLENi lol
MiLLENi well, it’s based on people’s beliefs. Some do believe in god and you should let them.
MiLLENi spot the salty atheist lol
And sweat come out
It’s not like they film outside. Every scene is mostly filmed on set and with cgi
I am amazed by the patience of all the actors who accepts prosthetics. Her character is essential! Wonderful, badass and deep!
Am I the only wondering how long that takes to shower off? 😂😂😂
Shower?
Madox yeah. All that blue paint 😂
Madox blue stains, so she probably has like a blue tint left on her body rip
I was too haha. Then trying to clean your shower from the blue.
It’s prosthetics.
Extra 2 hours makeup sitting for Nebula, Gomora and Drax
Along came Quill 5 mins late 😁
And then comes rocket... Oh right
@@kubajanickianimations9558 Hahahaha!
You're welcome. Not that Marvel needs anymore money but I watched the complete ad, despite having already seen it, because it was Deadpool 2.
Props to Ms. Gillian for being so patient and props to those amazing makeup guys!!
Imagine what the bath water looks like at the end of a day’s shooting.
probably looks like a bath bomb!
I'd volunteer to drink it.

+garpiah i really don't like how they interrupted this beautiful song at it's best part after making such a bad movie. :(
Silence
Very cool, the amount of patience and work that goes into this process. Amazing
Moments like these make me proud of humanity’s achievements
How is it that even with no make up and a prosthetic bald head at the start of this clip, Karen still looks so beautiful?!
*_So much sarcasm. I love it._*
*I love it how people dont sense the sarcasm in it. Lovely.*
I also
Me: Just paint me green and CGI it in.
CGI is very cheap.
Me: just make a mold and a mask
Damn she’s going to have a hard time doing her skincare routine
Nice
Me: *directly goes to the comments when video starts*
Video: Am i a joke to you?
I thought my headphones were broken 😂
What 😂😂😂😂
I thought my ears were broken
Wait you can't hear the music? It's a really good song
Love nebula,I always loved her on comics too & then she cokes along & plays her perfectly & they made her look just like her so it made me love her even more
This feels so heavy and uncomfortable when you its on your face and body for a whole day. But by now, I guess she's used to it. Great job to the artists 👏👏👏
AMY POND!!!!!
i was thinking that lol
Mecha Pond
Jelly baby?
OMG I didn't notice that before
@Pat Star you need to watch doctor who to understand.
I would never have the patience to sit still for so long with people hovering above me and putting all that stuff on me.
One word.
Money
The way that she can still smile throughout the process.
Kudos to Karen and her makeup artist who really gives effort.
And I wonder why Alien's skulls are ‘long’ in a weird way 🤔 That extra part is their hairs !
she actually shaved her entire head for GOTG and GOTG2
Yeah, that and they're aliens.

is that...... fondant?.......
lol haha
Lol no
Yikes if it was made of fondant it would have melted under all of the hot lights and being in contact with her face! They are probably using some sort of silicon painted blue.
Umm… No

So. Much. Work. Hats off to the artists that make the characters, and the actors who sit through hours of this stuff every day.
*Silence intensifies*
And then she had to go to work.
Some actors really do work for a living.
Thhunter what are you talking about
Thhunter what the fuck
It's pretty obvious. Acting is seen as an easy job, in terms of the 9-5, but here Gillian has to sit in a chair for 5 hours and then go perform. It's not easy.
OK and your point is?
tyler kaiser I think he said it's not.
Walks on....
"Hi!"
CUT. That's a wrap for today.
Amazing insight into something many don't think about. That team did a great job with all the make-up and Karen Gillan, what a great actress. She really brought the character to life and owned it.
what if suddenly she feel itchy on her cheek after that lenghty process?
What d'you think?? That paint is sensitive enough to get easily removed? Or are you seeing it as a distemper/wall-paint indeed [that it takes to dry-out]? 😂
you must add some sound without any music it seems irritating
DIY Nerd now it felt irritating.
DIY Nerd 😂😂😂😅😅😅
DIY Nerd agreed
Benny Hill theme :)
People complain when there's music and people complain when there isn't.... lol damned if you do and damned if you don't.
I have wondered for so long how they did her makeup and i randomly stumble on this video. Amazing work guys! Not nearly enough credit goes out to the makeup artista
The patience she has to sit there that long thru all of that!! Kudos to Karen Gillian. I couldn't do it.
