Human: "I've got a hunch". Xeno: "we can't trust your hunches. Let's do some tests". Human: "what were the results of the tests"? XENO: "you were right". Human: "I had a hunch you would say that".
But if you're building a home for the demon... in this case, it would terraforming a world for humans... then you'd definitely go for the place that closer matches the demon's preferences.
Human: I prefer planet one Xeno: planet two it is then Human: I said one Xeno: precisely. Any planet that make you feel at home might as well be a deathworld
It makes sense. Our brains are wired to pick up things we would find difficult to deal with. Any simplistic thing we tend to overlook or disregard and that is the sort of thing the agency would have to put more effort into.
Haven't watched one of your videos for awhile. Watched other hfy narrators, watching yours again feels like coming home. Much better then the lazy computer read ones.
Zren and NetNarrator both do actual reading instead of AI read Earth-bovine-manure. Either way, welcome back from your wayward journey. I hope it was enjoyable, and remember to tickle the like button to help out our favorite Squirrel.
IIRC reading an article somewhere years ago where some scientist ran the numbers and discovered that two planets sharing the same orbital track around a star but not orbiting each other is not only improbable, it's actually unstable. Sooner or later, one or the other planet should get booted out of the orbital track due to interactions with other gravitational bodies in the system. The fact that you have two habitable worlds in the same orbital track would then suggest an artificial setup... but that's not what this story is about.
2 planets in the habitual zone for that star..doesn't mean they are in the same orbit. Mars and earth are both in the habitual zone (though Mars is to small to have retained enough atmosphere). Venus also for that matter
I once learned about research on computer based analysis and prediction. A program was taught on many real life data sets and was finaly able to predict accurately what would happen next if shown one of those sets. But then when given a new set, its predictions were way off. Because it was a different set of data.
Great story; Excellent narration! I thought the ending was going to be "Neither! Its obviously the creation of a very, very, very advanced civilization. We don't want to rearrange their park." 🙂
11:29 Between the words "decades" and "seemed" I'm noticing a strong audio spike, I'm just wondering if that is just a local compression artefact, or part of the recording? Anyway, thanks for the narration, I really liked that one :)
DEATHWORLDERS!!!! Here is a like and comment for the story, for entertaining me, to help your channel grow, to appease the TH-cam algorithm demon, and get you the recognition you deserve.
We are talking about a species that sent multiple doomed expeditions to their arctic regions before they were truly technologically capable of surviving that region.
The whole testing process reminds me of "Chicken sexting". To most people, male and female day old chicks are exactly identical... But with practice, you can learn to make the determination in a fraction of a second... Which is an actual job on chicken farms.
The difference between developing and terraforming makes me curious. As the more hazardous the start is the more value you add by making it safe. And starting with the hard part makes it easier to finish the rest of the project, in this case the development of the system.
ahhhktshually...... The human intestines are line with so many neurons that they are considered the human's "second brain". It does play an influence in moods.
Glad you’re back Agro! I really don’t like all those AI narrators. One of the things I like about you Agro is not only your voice and character voices but your choice in stories. So many AI stories are just bad. You and other human narrators pick so much better stories.
It's two almost identical habital worlds in the SAME system, terraform them both for gods sake. OR better yet, offer one planet as lexury and terraform it and offer the other as do it yourself LOL
The 'Wow' signal was a 4 sigma. Meaning it is either artificial or a very unlikely combination of events. Therefore, the 2 planets would be over 99.95% identical. BTW, the signal was a combination of rare radio emission events that happened nearly simultaneously, from our perspective at least.
If a human doesn't like a planet there just isn't anything interesting on it. Xeno: Could you define interesting? Human: OH GOD OH GOD WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE!!! What is the point of living somewhere that doesn't make you think that.
Human: "I've got a hunch".
Xeno: "we can't trust your hunches. Let's do some tests".
Human: "what were the results of the tests"?
XENO: "you were right".
Human: "I had a hunch you would say that".
Correct at being wrong with a near perfect track record
To be fair, if a demon said a place feels as comfy as home... it's probably not somewhere a normal person would want to live.
But if you're building a home for the demon... in this case, it would terraforming a world for humans... then you'd definitely go for the place that closer matches the demon's preferences.
Can’t make it to easy for us, we would get to bored and probably figure out a way to move the planet

LOL. Short form: if the scary death worlder's feel comfortable, go somewhere else!
Hellworlders would like the place closet to their evolutionary cradle. All other places are not as unpredictable (dangerous).
Hooman: my gut tell me left
Xeno: right it is then
😄
For the species that invented the saying "I think it is a shortcut" it is the absolute correct way of handling it.
Accurate 😂
Human: I prefer planet one
Xeno: planet two it is then
Human: I said one
Xeno: precisely. Any planet that make you feel at home might as well be a deathworld
Let's not go with what feels right to a Deathworlder.
Doing the exact opposite of what a human's gut tells them was a nice little twist. Though it does make sense. :P
The Castanza rule.

I think the system has only two planets so there are no other gravitational bodies (if we don't count the sun) to kick it out of orbit.
@danijelandroid even then the orbits would be to unstable, it's possible that one will eventually get to far ahead and slam into the other

Match to sigma 4? What does that mean?
The 'Wow' signal was a 4 sigma. Meaning it is either artificial or a very unlikely combination of events.

This story makes a slightly disturbing amount of sense.
The constant errors in numeric consistency made this hard to listen to.
