    What other Netflix gems do you think should've made this list? Please Note: Movie availability on Netflix is subject to change and differs from country to country.

    Void is very H.P. Lovecraft like, which is what Carpenter was paying homage too in his films. One of my low budget favorites.

      AdamMcwadam Use a VPN and watch Netflix in the browser instead of the app... you can watch movies from the US no bother. There is a clause that says this this breaches the TOS so don’t use your usual account in case they ban you - however the sheer size of Netflix seems to have made it a really slim chance of getting caught.
      I’ve been using a vpn for US movies for 2-3 years now on the same account and not had any problems. Just made up an email specifically for it and used PayPal / gift card codes to pay for it in case they did ban the email and credit card. Definitely worth it but prob best not to use your usual details signing up in this way.
      Plus you can google for a huge list of additional search codes to filter the searches since there’s obviously going to be a lot of crap from the other countries Netflix you can browse...

    • @thespanielinquisition7167
      @thespanielinquisition7167 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Netflix doesnt support VPN AT ALL - in fact it blocks them - and hasnt for over a year so you're basically just lying

    • @mushutak
      @mushutak 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same two movies available on Australian netflix. Why is it the US seems to get much better stuff? just about everything I ever see in these "best on netflix" videos is unavailable. Come on netflix. I know the US is probably your biggest market but we still pay the subscription fees, I'm sick of trawling through tons of crap to find one or two good movies that I watch straight away and then go back to having nothing to watch, I'm seriously considering getting a VPN and going back to pirating whatever I want when I want.
      At least give us season 8 of Archer, it finished airing on FXX about 9 months ago

    Ravenous is a masterpiece of a Hitchcock style thriller combined with some of the most brilliant dark humor I have seen. The story is revealed slowly over time and flawlessly performed by the perfect cast. It is yet my hope that Ravenous will spark a new genre of dark humor thrillers. Tarantino would be a natural in that genre. Thank you for featuring it.

    • @FionaFails

    One note on The Void: like the Carpenter films cited, the proper classification is "Lovecraftian". The Void, using a very low budget, is able to nail cosmic horror without breaking a sweat.

    Wraith: So bad it's entertaining and I highly recommend listening to the How Did This Get Made episode of it.
    Kill Me Three Times: I couldn't finish it was just bad and paint by numbers
    Creep: Amazing and I hate found footage films
    Bronson: That movie was why I got excited for Valhalla Rising, and then Drive and became a fan of Refn
    Ravenous: Seen it and it was fine
    Beyond the Gates: Was good but I feel it would have made a better short film.
    Look Who's Back: Sitting in my queue for quite some time, still haven't gotten around to it.
    Uncanny: Haven't seen it, you're not selling me on it, you're making it sound like an updated Electric Dreams.
    The Void: One of my favorite horror movies of the year.

      Rewatched it on Netflix a while ago, and still it's not a gem; It is still 80s cheese at times. For some reason, however, you still end up getting sucked into watching the whole thing - especially as the Wraith's paybacks add up. The cast even has a few surprising faces in it; It even has Buddy's girlfriend from "Just One of the Guys" as the main, "Stop! Don't fight over me!", girlfriend.

    What the FUCK does The Wraith have to do with being a "Netflix Gem"?!?! I have it on BluRay, because I wanted it in my collection back in 2004 because of how fondly I remembered it from childhood... Just like "Twilight Zone The Movie" or any other number of thing.
    Being on Netflix, does not qualify as a "Neflix Gem" (It's NOT THEIR production)... This is NOT "Stranger Things". It needs to be produced, co-produced, or in some other way affiliated with the creation process.
    Next thing I know, You'll be saying that "The Bible", "The Quaran", or some other text which existed far before conglomerated publishing, and had immense following is a "Random House Gem"!
    SImply moronic.

    Hardy a Household name ? Huh ? Yes - the real Bronson was less than impressed, & rightly so. Hardy, is a card carrying member of the "To the Wooden Manner Born Club".
    And Pegg is a solid presence in many a film, but a Mega-Star ? Come-On
    30 or 40 people who played a Board game back in the VCR's heyday ? You clearly weren't there.

    Beyond the Gates sucked.
    Awful movie, never watch it. It had a budget of $300,000, but I can't tell what could have possibly cost that much. Cheap special effects, bad make-up, bad acting.
    Worst of all, it was boring. I kept looking at the time and thought they were saving their budget for something. I had this feeling that it was going to get better, that they were saving up for something, but it never came and I was disappointed.

  • @angelsinger4574

    It isn’t a movie, but deserves more love: “Glow.” Give the first 3 episodes a day in court. You don’t have to like wrestling to enjoy this show...and Marc Maron as the cocaine-addled Director is hilarious. You gotta love a show that gives you the Drug Robot.
    Also: there’s only one sex scene, but if you’re a “Mad Men” fan, it’s both disturbing and hilarious.

  • @BJ-bd5fc
    @BJ-bd5fc 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I can vouch for Look Who's Back - the Hitler in 21st century Germany movie. It starts out as an oddball, fish-out-of-water comedy that you can't quite wrap your brains around, so give it some time to get going before giving up on it. It has interesting characters that come into view as the movie goes on, and it eventually morphs into a compelling satire about human nature and the charismatic lure of strongmen like Da Fuhrer. The best part is that it ultimately makes you ask yourself, "Would I have been any different that the Germans in the 1930's?", while giving you a few laugh out loud moments (like the dog in the car scene).
    If you have to choose between this and The Wraith, the only other one I've seen on this list, pick this one.

    Looper, you should change the title of this video. Netflix gems implies that this is a list of Netflix originals, yet it isn't. Wait, why am I even bringing this up? Most of your videos are mistitled anyway. Cary on.

    I saw "Creep" and "The Void" "Creep" is ok but completely falls apart at the ridiculously stupid ending. I will not reveal it but believe me it IS stupid! It's almost as if they reached a point where they didn't know how to end it and finally tacked this nonsense on. As for "The Void", perhaps it's purpose was to pay an homage to '80s horror but it is an incoherent mess. Trying to tell two stories at once and not succeeding with either one.

    Netflix Hems You Don't Need To See (Ever) - That would be the correct headline, all of the shown movies are terrible and very very far from being a "Gem" at all.

    Yeah, the only people who have ever seen The Wraith are those that had HBO in the mid to late 1980s and 1990s. And Cinemax subscribers. And those who had Showtime or The Movie channel. Or anyone who ever went to a video store...

    The fucking wraith is amazing. Of all the movies that need to be remade, that was does. It would be so badass. And bronson, obviously. Tom hardy is a legend. Has not made one badass movie. Here's a tip for ya, if tom hardy is in the movie, it's a great movie. That's an official rule.

    Kill me three times is a fucking great movie,only if you like black comedies, if you don't you'll probably spend the whole movie feeling bad whenever you laugh

    Kill me Three Times and Ravenous were ok, Bronson was rubbish, Wraith wasn't even worth watching, neither was creep.

    The WRaith is not available on USA nor UK Netflix. This video was posted 3 weeks ago. Has it been removed???

    Maybe we'd be able to find these on our own if NETFLIX didn't fuck us all over with their new pc rating system.

    WTF? Neither of the two first movies are on Netflix. Is it a region thing, or is it a Looper-crew on drugs-thing?

    I saw The Wraith as a kid when it was first released. It was really cheesy back then, and it's worse now as an adult. Best thing about it was the awesome car design. Kill Me Three Times is pretty bad too. Saw Ravenous at the theater and loved it, and have rewatched it a few times. Creep, Bronson, and Uncanny were all good too. The Void was something that I thought I'd like, but I watched it upon release and it was painfully boring.

    Kill me 3 times is a surprisingly good movie. I highly recommend it. If nothing else for one of the best movie lines ever uttered. The only other one I've seen was the Void. Great plot and premise but the execution was limp. It never really brought you into the world. The acting and some of the dialog was really weak.

    uncanny kinda sucked. I knew what was going to happen just from the trailer. My friend told me to watch it and showed me the trailer. I told him what I thought was going to happen, because it is obvious, and he accused me of already watching it lol

    For me personally Shaky cam ruins a film. It could be the greatest story ever written, and I'll never know because 5 minutes of that shit gives me a headache.

    "Bronson" is worthless. Love Tom Hardy, but this film is pathetically insipid.
