Very uneasy game to play for people who actually lived through war that game was based on. As Wiki says "The game is inspired by true events of the poor daily living conditions and atrocities that civilians had to endure during the Siege of Sarajevo, the longest city siege in modern warfare history." and I have to say game shows it quite close. I myself am from Croatia, country that was also in that war and suffered much. I spent my first grade in basement because of bombing and air raids while my father was at the front line. Trailer says well with "What you see in war it stays with you... forever". I am 30 now, many years have passed since then and I still feel bad while playing this. But it is such a good game that I can't stop. Well done.
I feel thesame. I'm from Bosnia. I was 7 years old when war started, now I am 35. This game hits me like a train. Bringing up the old memories and wounds. This is the closest anyone can come to how we felt during the war. I wish nobody ever have to experience this in their lives. Stay strong brother and thank you 11 Bit for making this game, it shows how some of us had it and what we went through.
For us staying alive was everything. There was no heroes, nothing like what Holywood makes war to be. Just trying to stay alive, one day at a time.

To just see one part of this atrocious conflict is just not reasonable. Brother wars unfortunately means that everyone is out to kill each other because of bad politics.
@@Epoxa83 I went to the hospital with one of the characters and I've seen that smiling octopus on the wall in a ruined room. Then I've read downstairs that a bomb hit the hospital and there were some caualties in every hospital ward. But almost all "patients" died in the children's ward. Then I understood why was that Octopus on the wall amongst the rubble... Then I actually started to cry.
This isn't a game, it's a lesson.

I almost cried during this game when I saw my entire safe house dying. The fact I was controlling them didn't break the immersion, it felt like a movie. I had everyone sick from the harsh winter, and some wounded protecting the fatally ill at night. The strongest were those who got slashed by axes, and the weakest were those who were shot and bed ridden from illness. The leader of them desperately tried to find supplies at night, even going to an open area that was known for deaths by snipers. Nothing helped the sick, nothing helped saved the wounded. It felt like every night someone died, but the leader stayed strong. He searched countless places, even robbing a church, but it was not enough to save everyone. He had to save everyone. In the end he broke down into a depression after being nearly killed at the hospital that refused to help them with supplies. The leader died almost a week after, alone and crying in bed.
Wow, that hits mainly cos this prob happend in the Sarajevo Incercilment, or in the stalingrad one, the whole we won't help you thing with the hospital is very true, it shows you the horros of war, not the CoD or battlefeild aspects

Awesome to see that small time devolpers aren't lacking inspiration like those AAA studio's with budgets that can solve the worlds food problem in a day. They often make games that are so shallow. I don't get the haters that talk about "real" games like Destiny etc. Define real plz. Cause I think a game like This War of Mine is as real as it gets. Awesome soundtrack btw.

People who survived the siege of Sarajevo, I applaud you. I couldn't even survive 30 days, much less 1,435 (according to wikipedia.) and I highly doubt, if it happened IRL to me, I would even survive 30.

With skills and knowledge you can widen your chance of survival up to the point where the rest lies in luck. The least prepared guy sometimes survived because he was at a right place at a right time while seal level commando will die if he gets into that one in million situation where he cant do anything.

That's what makes this games game so good, your not playing mechanics your playing the game and you are immersed. In some situations you would do the worse thing for your team because you understand it's the better for others.

Looks very interesting. And I don't blame some kids or fans of cod for their complaints about the graphics or point of view. Appreciation for production like this requires a bit of good taste and maturity.

This game is shaping up to be one of my most anticipated games. Let's just hope that it can live up to expectations.
The lyrics of the song go more or less like this. Rather more then less, as I'm not native anyway, so I was just as faithful as possible. But if it doesn't sound normal it's just partly because of that faithfulness and mostly because it's poetry and it was never normal to begin with. I mean word choice is very peculiar and if You think nobody speaks like that in English, then I assure You that same goes for Polish original.

*Polish word "purpurowy" sonds like and is often translated as "purple", and it's very difficult to differentiate the two, but it's more red. Culturally it's often percieved as colour of king's robe and colour of blood, which I believe was important here.
Purpurowy means purple, purple watchmaker of light is literally God. (purple is colour of Kings/judges, light is common allegory of life and watchmaker is allegory of creator or someone who can "stop" the time). The song is more or less about someone who's ready(prepared) for death.

Truly a harrowing game. Quite groundbreaking. I got to a part where I was scrounging for food, and was powerless to stop a solider kidnap a girl for rape. Another time I was breaking into a house I thought was abandoned, and this guy attacked me and I killed him, then is wife came out and started sobbing over the body screaming at by character. Its a moving game that holds back nothing, its depressing. We need more games like this!

Tak mechanikę, może trochę utrudnić system walki. Kupiłem część pierwszą, drugą, trzecią, black flag i po trzeciej części po prostu przechodzisz tą samą grę w innym wydaniu. Dziwie się że jeszcze ludzie to kupują, ubi już zanudza tymi samymi grami zamiast spróbować czegoś innego. A do tego jeszcze robią dwie części w tym samym czasie... Tak samo jest z Cod-ami.
Nie wspominając o serii "Hirołsi". Po piątej części (która byłą średnia) ta gra dla mnie nie istnieje.
To po co robią grę niech zrobią więcej książek (czytałem tylko porzuceni) i filmów.

*EDIT* Ok, its been a month since I posted the above and I get a comment just about every day on it either for or against. I honestly can't think of any other time that I've called someone and "idiot" on the internet. That's not really my style. Its reductive, cynical and harsh. I thought about deleting it, but that would just be me denying I said it.
I still feel the Polygon quote is misplaced. As someone who has multiple family members that suffer from PTSD, I found that quote about a video game to be a bit hyperbolic. And no, the writer who wrote it is not a veteran for those that have asked. That quote is attributed to Charlie Hall of Polygon. And since I've looked up the quote I've discovered he's not an idiot, but a pretty damn good writer, but I still don't agree with the quote...not even a little.
Didn't you know.. the people that work in Polygon do extensive research to truly understand how directly comparative an experience is the game. Many spent months hand cuffed to a radiator in a bombed out school in Chechnya. ;)

in the end of my first playthrough only Marko survived. Pavle was killed by the sniper. Bruno killed himself. Roman wad killed in a firefight. and Katia died from sickness a couple of days before help finally arrived.

this is such an awesome game and it proves that a game company dosent need a million $ to make a great game lets take ubisoft for an example the budget for ac unity was so high and made by a gaint company ofc ubisoft all around the world with millions of employes (im not joking millions of employes worked on ac unity) and this war of mine was made by a smaller amount of people and ofc a lower budget but ac unity came out so bad and poorly made with lots mistakes but this war of mine had no mistake no glitch no bugs its a perfect game there is nothing bad about this game you cant down it for anything an its the best game ive seen in my life so good work 11 bit studios YOU HAVE A BRIGHT FUTURE in the game creating industry

ben bu oyunu 3 yıl önce androide oynardım şimdi pc aldım ve ilk yüklediğim oyun bu oldu. oyun gerçekten çok güzel . hikayesi ile oyuncuya verdiği o his ile atmosferi ile gerçekten çok taktir ettiğim bir oyun oldu.11 bit studios ekibine başarılar diliyorum.
