1984. The night before the day of my wedding. Driving home after my last date with my girlfriend (because the next day she'd be my wife). I heard this for the first time on the radio. I said WHAAAT???!! Stevie became my obsession. Listened to him constantly, tried to learn his technique (yeah right), could not wait to see him live. Flash forward to 1990, and he came to town. My wife and I saw him with Jeff Beck, an amazing show. The next week he was killed. When I heard that, I cried. He was an amazing artist, and his music was woven into my life. I cried like a little kid.
Wow, Thank You, my Friend! Great React and thoughtful too...Bravo! Two more suggestions? Stevie was considered a Blues Player, the GOAT! "Stevie Ray Vaughan - "Texas Flood - A Celebration of Blues and Soul" & "Stevie Ray Vaughan Tin Pan Alley (with Johnny Copeland) " - Both are Blues songs, the first he breaks a string while playing behind his back and he gets another guitar and plays where he left off! 🤣 The second he plays with the Blues great Johnny Copeland...Thanks again, and I will pray for your nerves and health...It's getting to all of us. Bless You!!!
Glad you reacted to SRV!!! This performance is from the Austin City Limits show on PBS, the longest running music show in television history. Living in Austin I was fortunate to see him play many times back in the day. I worked in the concert business in Austin for 23 years, and met SRV backstage at Prince's Purple Rain concert here in town in 1985. Stevie was extremely gracious and appreciative of his fans! When Fender started making guitars, they had no idea what lay ahead once Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn got ahold of them!!
My dear, your reaction took me back to 1984, when I first heard Stevie Ray. Drawn in by the groove, mesmerized by the skill, overwhelmed by how deeply and quickly it burrows into your soul....Thanks.
Stevie played rhythm plus killer guitar.. GOAT saw him in 86.. Outlaws opened...every one had a smile on their face...we all knew that we had experienced greatness...I will never forget..
I love these reaction vids from young black people because I’m 55yrs old and white and loved mowtown all my teenage life and also a huge fan of Stevie and his brother jimmy just f kn awesome talent undeniably so it’s cool that for years whitefolks lovedblack music and just now! Black folks are starting to dig some Stevie ray man. Welcome to my world of love for Srv. Rip ....
Lol you havent even touched the surface of his emotion and talent!! Loved your reaction! You have to react to Texas Flood live at El Macambo or live in Japan but you always have to hear Stevie live!!! Keep em coming please!!🎸🎸🎸💞💞💞💞💞💞
..the entire song in His hand feels like.."y'all heard that , right? " glad to hear how much you feel it...he rather stuns me listening to where he is coming from.....
Sup Miami!! Growing up in NZ Bob Marley and Stevie Ray Vaughan were big influences to not just me but Maori people in general, he just played it right!
While Stevie was playing the Texas blues circuit he got to know and play with a lot of amazing guitar slingers including his own brother Jimmy he took a little bit from everyone he ever heard and ended up surpassing everyone he ever idolized and he is still the goat after thirty year of being gone I guessing God said Stevie was too good for this world and called him home before he got any better
Thank You For Your true appreciation for, and of ,music...SRV is an experience, a force. And,this lock down is a crazy maker. I really dig you little sister.
Your watching the Greatest Guitarist to ever walk this earth ... plus he's playing with 13 gauge strings which are like playing with bass strings but he had big hands no one play's with that size strings because they couldn’t bend the strings to do what they wanted. but SRV could and would break the strings offend from playing so friggin hard !!
An ode to Jimi. Believe some reactors mentioned SRV and Mr. Hendrix were buddies. Best cover of a Hendrix classic ever. RIP SRV. RIP Jimi H. SRV + Double Trouble = One of the "top 5" 3-man combos in blues and/or rock 'n' roll EVER. You're "in the club," ITZJT -- you've got a great "stank face" to put on while listening to Stevie Ray.
It's only fitting that the man who knew Jimi Hendrix personally should be the one to do this song justice. I heard a while back that Jimi's father was paid a visit by Stevie to ask his permission to play Jimi's songs, and Jimi's father gave Stevie his gear (including the waa pedal he does that amazing sliding feedback sound with)
If you like the wah-wah pedal in this one,you need to check out,Telephone Song by him.He actually carries a conversation with the guitar. He actually makes it talk,it will blow you away.
SRV never played any song exactly the same way every time an he rarely had a play list. Double Truble had to be on point all the time and watch like hawks for nuances. A match made in heaven .
Well aint that it LOL Next Texas Flood at El macambo got to hand it to the rhythem section watching them there like on cruise control both playing all over and around SRV
GOAT. He will never be replaced. Little Wing is awesome! I prefer the studio version but live at Amacombo, not sure if I spelled correctly, is great also. Texas Flood is as Blues as it gets. Great to see the younger crowd experiencing this Legend.
Must-see SRV vids: 1) Texas Flood at El Macambo 2) Life Without You at Capitol Theater 3) Ain't Gone and Give Up on Love at Capitol Theater 4) Tightrope at Austin City Limits 1989 5) Leave My Girl Alone at Austin City Limits 1999 SRV 🎸🐐

I've played guitar all my life and I've had many of the finest guitars...I was pretty damn good. But after seeing SRV live in Daytona Beach, I hung it up...NO ONE will ever play that good again. SRV doesn't play memorized "licks"...Clapton said "All guitarists will freeze sometimes and not know which lick to play next...but Stevie NEVER freezes and ALWAYS knows "where to go" - he plays from his heart, his mind and his soul...I've never seen anybody like that."
Interesting tidbits... Jimmy Hendrix was a Very Dear Friend of his! So much so... he (if ya noticed!?) Started using his "Whammy Bar" mounted on the top, (As Jimmy did... because he used a right handed guitar Left Handed!), and by the making of this video... Jimmy had passed! Sadly so!!! :( Jimmy's family gave Stevie several guitar related items... most notably the "WhaWha" pedal Jimmy used! Yes... it was custom made for Jimmy, and Stevie used it on Everything recorded following his passing!!! They were thick as thieves! Both GOATS... aling with Randy Rhoads.... too good for this earth! Taken too soon!!!!!!!!!!! Massive Respect!!!
Check out Couldn't Stand the Weather and Tight Rope next...Both Stevie Ray...be careful this stuff will ruin your life😂😂 1959 through 1962 Stratocasters and all the pedals and the vox chrometop and fender amps cost a fortune...but you gotta play it once you hear it!
Eric Clapton cancelled his world tour in 1983, with SRV opening for him in London. Eric had never heard of SRV before and after listening to three songs...Eric CANCELLED the entire world tour! I saw this on TV and when Clapton cancelled, it showed the BBC asking Clapton "Why did you cancel the tour?!" Eric said "I can't do it..." The BBC again asked what he meant and Clapton said "I can't play behind Stevie Ray Vaughan...he's the best I've ever seen." Then he walked off in a daze. SRV's first concert after cutting his "Texas Flood" album, ended right there in London. THAT'S how good SRV is.
We are all one consciousness Black-and-white And every single human Are made of energy Stevie and Hendrix was an open channel Only judge someone on their actions Racism doesn't even make sense one love❤❤😥😥😥😥
I notice a lot of you people reacting to Stevie Ray Vaughan don't watch him play, just listening, you have to watch him, he is a MASTER guitar player. There has been 7 or 8 times that I have seen he just zones out, Some other good ones are "Couldn't Stand The Weather", Little Wing
His version of Little Wing is also worth it. In fact, pretty much anything he performs is worth it. There's a three sound song check that's also worth it. Again, he and Jimi were the best ever.
1:55 . . .See that string bend he's doing there? For the non-guitar players out there, , Stevie used 13-gauge strings. HEAVY DUTY thick strings. . Most players use 9 or 10-gauge strings, thinner and lighter in size and thickness. . In order to bend those strings THAT much you would need to have hands as strong as the HULK! That's like bending steel rebar with your fingertips!!
In the the liner notes of his greatest hits cd I have, it said that he'd sleep with his guitar, and his wife would get mad. Lol. Also, kind of a disturbing fact ... the helicopter that crashed and killed STV, Eric Clapton was actually supposed to be on.

sickest badass blues guitarist that ever was ..i hope he's jamming up in heaven with EVH and Jimi!

Stevie Ray was all natural talent, he was born with a guitar in his hand. The man played with pure feeling.
Legend has it that once he finished performing this song and the guitar asked for a cigarette. 😮😮🙏🙏🔥
Lmao. Excellent comment
Lol
Can't speak for the guitar, but I could use one.
This is as close as it gets to watching somebody throw lightning off their fingers.
Yeah! SRV! And Stevie never played a song the same way twice. Amazing and sorely missed. Humble man. ❤❤❤
Saw him as the warm up act in 1985, blew the house down. Main act came out and said, "how do we top that?"
He is the GOAT. Check Texas Flood...epic
I agree as far as blues goes but when it comes to rock I gotta day EVH
@Brian Morgan when asked how it felt to be the best rock and roll guitar player in the world Hendrix said " I don't know, ask Rory Gallagher"
Another great jam by this man is "Little Wing" live.
two words written by Hendrix, but perfected by SRV in his live, 1983 vid...this one or Texas Flood (live at El Macambo). Thanks for listening!
Best cover of a Hendrix song ever performed
seeing ur reaction a younger woman to my all time guitar hero made my day ..
One of his big influences was Jimi Hendrix and this is Jimi’s song originally.
it’s actually stevies song
rvrratt1 no it is not
And Eric Clapton too.
Join the rest of us young lady. We felt the same the first time too.

In times like this baby; a dose of SRV is good for the soul. God bless.
He makes the Guitar express feelings lol. He's The Greatest! React to Texas Flood next.
GOAT...there is none greater than SRV. ❤️ RIP SRV.

He was the best with that guitar..i grew up on Vauhn..😁😁😁
3:23 The face you make when you hear a Legend. Great reaction.
The face when you take a Shite!
I love watching people see Stevie for the first time. You made the same face I made when I first heard him...30+ years ago. XD
Sup Miami!! Growing up in NZ Bob Marley and Stevie Ray Vaughan were big influences to not just me but Maori people in general, he just played it right!
Is Stevie from another dimension?! Love his music to death. More than talent. Something supernatural? Cheers from Canada
He didn’t read music he played by ear and his hands were so freakishly strong he broke the neck on one guitar
Aahhhhh...Stevie Ray Vaughn, you don’t “watch” Stevie Ray...you EXPERIENCE Stevie Ray. 🎸
Lol welcome to the SRV club 😄 he has that effect on EVERYONE!! THE GOAT...Taken way too soon ...love ur reaction 😛
Stevie was the GOAT!! Legend!! Gone to soon. RIP Stevie! Love your reaction to him!!❤🎸
Stevie would disagree. His idol Jimi Hendrix is the GOAT. He makes Jimi proud.
Another great guitarist that has passed, that is in the same league as SRV, is Gary Moore. Worth checking out
Loved your reaction to Stevie. I would like you to watch Jimi Hendrix. Stevies inspiration. Well most guitar players inspiration.
There wasn't a sound coming from that guitar that wasn't exactly what he wanted. He was the total master of his instrument.
Thank You For Your true appreciation for, and of ,music...SRV is an experience,
a force. And,this lock down is a crazy maker. I really dig you little sister.
Texas flood and Tin pin alley

M dirtywater921 notice picks run from his hands...
Closest anyone ever got to JIMI! He was a channel that very few ever get close to!
I heard he raised the nut on the guitar for the same reason. He felt you had to ‘fight’ the guitar just a little bit. Maybe a lot in his case
He's playing 11s here, but still.
So. You never saw Hendrix live.
The GOAT...............Plain and Simple !

What most people don't realize is that his strings were just sort of steel cables. They had to be because of the way he played ! SRV # 1

Jimi Hendrix was the greatest
@@jamespolucha6911 the most revolutionary and definitely one of the greats
Life Without You is a great song.
RIP SRV
I like your emotions you have a new subscriber. Peace of Christ.
He was birthed playing the guitar and played a sick solo when his mom held him after he was born
Stevie Ray idolized Hendrix. No one covers his songs better. You can't be greater than your idol you can only make them proud and Jimi would be proud.
Try" life without you" capitol theater NJ 1985 .
That Drummer is killing too on Voodoo Child. However there’s no one like Stevie. V

Music is music. If your blind you can still appreciate it. Nice you can tell people they are enjoying it incorrectly.
His version of Little Wing is also worth it. In fact, pretty much anything he performs is worth it. There's a three sound song check that's also worth it. Again, he and Jimi were the best ever.
