Good teaching points. Really good video topic too. Just the video I needed, just picked up the board again after like 17 years of not riding.

been having trouble with the board going to far forward, i'll take this advice next time i go out and practice. also don't think i am keeping my shoulders in a straight line so thanks for that tip as well

I would suggest not learning kickflips this way - it is the same way I did - because you will just have to relearn them later. Learning them this way trains you to flick immediately after you pop and it is hard to unlearn that timing. The best advice I ever got was to think of kickflips and heelflips as one-foot ollies (ollie north) but you kick down thru the corner of the nose instead of out. Foot positioning is the usual for kickflips/heelfips, that part's right.. But then think of a point right beyond and below the nose you are kicking. Don't think about where you are flicking from, think where you are flicking to - that point. Also, crucial - when you jump/pop, suck your legs up before you flick. This will give you flattened out kickflips that will smack into your back foot (the all important "catch")

I think ollie then flick. And you definitely want to flick out not down
