Yeah. It appears as if she has empathy for Subaru, but what she meant was she wants to watch him die over and over and also tell in details about how he felt each time just for the sake of satisfying her curiosity.
Everyones talking about the cute wholesome fluffy bunny scene and Echidna at the end but no one talking about how incredible the first part with Garfiel is, genuinely one of the most intimidating tense scenes of the anime, perfect soundtrack and visual effects, you get to know just how serious garfiel is about this, its insane
It also dispels any lingering suspicion of Otto. He may have made a good impression in the past but he literally sacrificed himself for Subaru and the really solidifies how great he is
It also puts the character on thin ice. Regardless of the reasons, dude went apeshit (catshit??) and slaughtered a bunch of innocent people. That's far worse than anything Rem and Ram did.

Gave justice to the emotion and despair behind Subaru's breakdown seeing him let out all those pent up pain and frustration not being able to reveal to anyone about his return by death since on top of the dying itself, the increased feeling of loneliness and isolation is a huge part of Subaru's suffering
The scene that made me cry was when Subaru chatted with his father, at first I didn't think it was sad, but after a while I went out of town, and rarely saw my parents, when I watched the episode again and understood every word that came out, it made me cry big, even though I watch a lot of dramas, but nothing makes it difficult for me to hold back tears other than that scene

He put himself in Subaru's shoes and REALLY tried to understand just how impactful this moment would be to Subaru. When Subaru cried, so did his VA. Genuinely one of my favorite VA performances ever!
21:10 not so fun fact the rabbit scene was severely toned down not once but twice! In the original web novel for Re: zero contained three entire pages worth of descriptions of the rabbits biting into his anal cavity and other unmentionable areas and caused many people to legitimately vomit from reading it. When the scene was written into the light novel, which the anime follows a lot of the specifics were left out, but it was still too much to put on TV so they decided to have a fade to black after the rabbits eat his eyes in order to keep the scene tame enough to air.

"I CRIED, CRIED MY LUNGS OUT, AND STOPPED CRYING." I feel the very title of this episode with all myself. I've been feeling this every single time i've been rewatching this episode, i've been feeling this from you through your reaction, and once more i've been feeling this myself again now.
It warms my heart deep into my core whenever I see your reactions to ReZero, cuz every time there was these cathartic moments in the anime I searched and searched for reactors to see what I saw, to understand what I have over them, to cry feeling the pain Subaru has had throughout this journey, and very few of them seem to open themselves to relate to this extent to the character. This pain is very real, and I appreciate seeing you react and relate to it to this point.
I could go on and on about how amazing each of these scenes is, but one thing I feel like some people overlook is the impact of them happening together. The moment with Echidna was just a huge moment of relief for Subaru, it was one that came after one of his absolutely worse sequence of events (behind only the Betelgeuse deaths). First he spent days locked without being able to do a thing, which was soon followed by the extremely tense chase from Garfiel where he had to watch his friends dying to help his escape, and immediately into by FAR his most painful and traumatizing death yet. And it was only after all of that happening that he was dragged into the tea party. The amount of stress he accumulated here is seriously no joke, and it makes the ending of the episode a lot more impactful than it'd be otherwise.
This is my favourite episode of Re:Zero S2-hands down. Knowing how hard it was for Subaru to carry the weight of his trauma on his own throughout his journey, and the fact that he couldn’t share the existence of his curse with anyone… The catharsis was much needed. Watching him break down like that was so heart-breaking, but also incredibly bittersweet. God, Subaru is such a fantastic character. His VA is so, _so_ good.
I think the reason Subaru could tell Echidna is either because 1. Echidna is dead or 2. the Witch of Envy can't reach Subaru in Echidna's graveyard (which I assume is like her world or something) Also this was the second time I cried at Re:zero Edit: Few spoilers in the replies, read at your own risk
Witch of Envy unable to access Echidna's Castle of Dreams, in novel it's also explained Castle of Dreams entrance guarded by Witch of Sloth, Sekhmet (second most powerful witch). Which is why you don't see her until last tea party with Satella. When Sekhmet abandoned her post and enter, Satella did enter aswell. Telling Return by Death penalty still works in physical world of Re:Zero in next episode you see Witch of Envy goes rampage.
@@UguuUng In all the novels we get much more info on the witches than the anime provides. However in the web novels we also just plain saw far more of the witch of sloth, some of it was cut/changed between web novel and light novel, and the rest didn't make it to the anime
this episode is what made rezero my favorite anime, the music, the voice acting, the entire scene of him finally being able to tell someone about what hes been going through, its a masterpiece imo, love this anime great reaction as always, cant wait to see the rest
I think you decribed the last scene perfectly. It's a release of all the pent up emotions that Subaru had since basically episode one. I don't even want to imagine how he must have felt like. There are so many people that he has made connections with but despite all that he was still completely alone without anyone to console him or simply listen to his troubles. Now after so much time Subaru finally found a person who he can tell to that he was returning by death over and over again. This scene also absolutely melted my heart. It's on same same emotional level for me as Rem's confession/Subaru's breakdown or the episode with Subaru's parents and some scenes later in season 2. Also we finally got happy fluffy bunny time
He has it so easy, he only has to be brutally eaten alive by a swarm of very hungry magic rabbits, have his organs cut into by an assassin or be killed by his friends to stop himself from killing them. It's so easy 😂.
This episode is soooo good, the voice acting is out of this world man. Between the bunny scene and the emotional breakdown scene at the end, the performance and vocal range are just crazy.

I just notice that you seem to not be able to recall Elsa's "Bowel Hunter" title all the time and I think it's kinda funny. The villagers really love Subaru so it's both heartwarming and sad to see them try to save him despite the dangers. And Subaru finally having someone to talk to about his Return by Death and all the crap he went to because of that is great. I mean not only can he not tell anyone about his power but he has to act like nothing was wrong even when he's just gone through someone traumatic cause he can't explain why or how he experienced them. There's still gonna be suffering after this though lol. --- Okay, so not sure if this would be considered spoiler for Tokyo Revengers. You said something about Subaru's fighting ability so this came to mind. In Tokyo Revengers, the MC also has time travel powers (he can't redo stuff but he can go back and forth in the Past and Present) and there are lots of fight there as well. Thing is, the MC doesn't actually learn how to fight lol (at least Subaru could even a bit) and I think it's one of the reasons there are polarizing opinions on that show. Just want to mention it since TR is something on your watch list as well if I remember correctly.

Psychologically you could say that kiss of death may have been worse but in terms of literal pain I think this was the worst

This symbolism. In the last episode the bromance scene Otto with Subaru. Where Subaru thanked Otto for saving him. Just like Emilia did with Subaru. Now Otto has given his life to protect him like Subaru would do for Emilia. Otto is the Subaru for Subaru.
We are Echidna. We watch Subaru go through all this to satisfy our own curiosity. It's what makes restarting timelines so interesting, because we get to see all sorts of different sides of characters and learn all sorts of information that would not be possible in any single timeline. And we get to see how Subaru dies, again and again, and we get to see how he finally puts all the pieces in motion, solves the problem and avoids death. Sometimes we want to comfort him, sometimes we want to offer him some advice, but we can't. Because watching is all we are doing.

How impressive a writer you have to be to be able to make such a string of impactful scenes to create such a roller coaster? From Subaru's mounting anguish as each discovery keeps on piling up with his little talk with Roswaal (his parting question... uhhh, how it makes your mind spin!), then Garfiel murdering everyone in front of Subaru. And for dessert after that inhuman carnage: we get what I consider Subaru's most hideous, horrifying and obscene deaths. I too, came to fear rabbits in anime after watching THAT. And the descriptions in the book are ten times more gruesome. Holy Frikin' FUCK. But then... then we get such a cathartic scene, as he confesses his greatest anguish, the black thorn of agonizing suffering he's been silently carrying lodged in his soul. It's one of Re:Zero's most important moments. Together with that whole chapter with just Subaru and Rem talking. It's one of those moments that allow him to keep jumping into the sadistic meat grinder that is his fate. Of course, you have to remember that this is Re:Zero, and it can and will out do itself. You are only a third of the way through this season, and look already at all the shit that's happened. Imagine what is yet in store for you. Just sayin'. And beware of the answers to your questions. For, as Subaru, you may not be ready for them.

In this exact scene in the light novel, Echidona explains that since it is a kind of a death realm created by her, noone can come in without her invitation. While subarı is there, witch of envy satella cannot interract with subaru. This will be a huge plot point later on. I will explain that thing when you share the episode and how novel explains it

Yeah, these rabbits are there for a perfectly valid reason. I won't tell you what it is though. The horn is an indication that they are magic beasts rather than normal animals. The village is both snowy and empty for a reason too.

I don't know if the author of Re:Zero was directly inspired by *Monty Python and the Holy Grail* or if he was inspired by the memes. The movie spawned a lot of memes, and even though it is getting close to 50 years in age, the memes are still alive. Interestingly both Minecraft and Terraria have their own version of the killer rabbit.

Opening 1 and ending of season 2 drops at a highly impactful time, though I in my opinion opening 2 of season 2(opening 4) is the worst of the 4 because it contains far more potential spoilers than the other 3 6:00 Beatrice has interacted physically with everyone in the mansion so it would be incredibly strange for it to be her “graveyard” since Echidna only interacts with people in her “world of dreams”, but as you say later she is a spirit 20:10 as bad as this scene is it is far worse in the novels where the rabbits enter his body as they eat him. 24:50 an entirely reasonable line of thought, one I have also considered but not one I can confirm 26:35 I feel this is either a mistake in translation or a minor mistake in the adaptation, the strange thing is that this is happening immediately after Subaru completed the first trial, not “the first tea party” but either way the effect on how strange it should seem to Echidna is the same. 33:20: I have been completely unable to find the top 10 list you referenced(and that showed up in your twitch comments a couple weeks ago) but it appears to be a “most watched on specific website list” not a rating or most watched overall. as re:zero should be, though even with that kind of rating, i rarely hear any isekai fan i meet speak about re:zero. the only place i find actual re:zero fans at are in re:zero communities. whenever i ask anyone outside of it about re:zero, they make me think re:zero is some underrated anime people arent giving a chance to still lol

Overlord, mushoku tensei , no game no life and konosuba are in my opinion Re: Zero s only iseakai rivals I suppose that Grimgar of fantasy and ash could rival it if you compare an equal amount of episodes, due to its powerful and raw emotional beats and characters.
That last scene is with Subaru breaking down broke my heart... The voice acting showcasing the true loneliness Subaru has felt, having to rely only on himself to get over all of this.

Everyones talking about the cute wholesome fluffy bunny scene and Echidna at the end but no one talking about how incredible the first part with Garfiel is, genuinely one of the most intimidating tense scenes of the anime, perfect soundtrack and visual effects, you get to know just how serious garfiel is about this, its insane
I think everyone likes to forget it because that just reminds them of lasagna and Mondays.
It also dispels any lingering suspicion of Otto. He may have made a good impression in the past but he literally sacrificed himself for Subaru and the really solidifies how great he is
It also puts the character on thin ice. Regardless of the reasons, dude went apeshit (catshit??) and slaughtered a bunch of innocent people. That's far worse than anything Rem and Ram did.

Gave justice to the emotion and despair behind Subaru's breakdown seeing him let out all those pent up pain and frustration not being able to reveal to anyone about his return by death since on top of the dying itself, the increased feeling of loneliness and isolation is a huge part of Subaru's suffering
The scene that made me cry was when Subaru chatted with his father, at first I didn't think it was sad, but after a while I went out of town, and rarely saw my parents, when I watched the episode again and understood every word that came out, it made me cry big, even though I watch a lot of dramas, but nothing makes it difficult for me to hold back tears other than that scene

21:10 not so fun fact the rabbit scene was severely toned down not once but twice! In the original web novel for Re: zero contained three entire pages worth of descriptions of the rabbits biting into his anal cavity and other unmentionable areas and caused many people to legitimately vomit from reading it. When the scene was written into the light novel, which the anime follows a lot of the specifics were left out, but it was still too much to put on TV so they decided to have a fade to black after the rabbits eat his eyes in order to keep the scene tame enough to air.

I feel the very title of this episode with all myself. I've been feeling this every single time i've been rewatching this episode, i've been feeling this from you through your reaction, and once more i've been feeling this myself again now.
It warms my heart deep into my core whenever I see your reactions to ReZero, cuz every time there was these cathartic moments in the anime I searched and searched for reactors to see what I saw, to understand what I have over them, to cry feeling the pain Subaru has had throughout this journey, and very few of them seem to open themselves to relate to this extent to the character. This pain is very real, and I appreciate seeing you react and relate to it to this point.
I could go on and on about how amazing each of these scenes is, but one thing I feel like some people overlook is the impact of them happening together.
The moment with Echidna was just a huge moment of relief for Subaru, it was one that came after one of his absolutely worse sequence of events (behind only the Betelgeuse deaths). First he spent days locked without being able to do a thing, which was soon followed by the extremely tense chase from Garfiel where he had to watch his friends dying to help his escape, and immediately into by FAR his most painful and traumatizing death yet. And it was only after all of that happening that he was dragged into the tea party.
The amount of stress he accumulated here is seriously no joke, and it makes the ending of the episode a lot more impactful than it'd be otherwise.
This is my favourite episode of Re:Zero S2-hands down. Knowing how hard it was for Subaru to carry the weight of his trauma on his own throughout his journey, and the fact that he couldn’t share the existence of his curse with anyone…
The catharsis was much needed. Watching him break down like that was so heart-breaking, but also incredibly bittersweet.
God, Subaru is such a fantastic character. His VA is so, _so_ good.

I think the reason Subaru could tell Echidna is either because 1. Echidna is dead or 2. the Witch of Envy can't reach Subaru in Echidna's graveyard (which I assume is like her world or something)

Witch of Envy unable to access Echidna's Castle of Dreams, in novel it's also explained Castle of Dreams entrance guarded by Witch of Sloth, Sekhmet (second most powerful witch). Which is why you don't see her until last tea party with Satella. When Sekhmet abandoned her post and enter, Satella did enter aswell.

I think you decribed the last scene perfectly. It's a release of all the pent up emotions that Subaru had since basically episode one. I don't even want to imagine how he must have felt like.
There are so many people that he has made connections with but despite all that he was still completely alone without anyone to console him or simply listen to his troubles. Now after so much time Subaru finally found a person who he can tell to that he was returning by death over and over again. This scene also absolutely melted my heart. It's on same same emotional level for me as Rem's confession/Subaru's breakdown or the episode with Subaru's parents and some scenes later in season 2.

I mean not only can he not tell anyone about his power but he has to act like nothing was wrong even when he's just gone through someone traumatic cause he can't explain why or how he experienced them. Okay, so not sure if this would be considered spoiler for Tokyo Revengers. You said something about Subaru's fighting ability so this came to mind. In Tokyo Revengers, the MC also has time travel powers (he can't redo stuff but he can go back and forth in the Past and Present) and there are lots of fight there as well. Thing is, the MC doesn't actually learn how to fight lol (at least Subaru could even a bit) and I think it's one of the reasons there are polarizing opinions on that show. Just want to mention it since TR is something on your watch list as well if I remember correctly.
RE: ZERO may not be perfect, but the author's mastery of the story rhythm is definitely top-notch, as he can make people deeply immersed in it.

How impressive a writer you have to be to be able to make such a string of impactful scenes to create such a roller coaster?
From Subaru's mounting anguish as each discovery keeps on piling up with his little talk with Roswaal (his parting question... uhhh, how it makes your mind spin!), then Garfiel murdering everyone in front of Subaru. And for dessert after that inhuman carnage: we get what I consider Subaru's most hideous, horrifying and obscene deaths. I too, came to fear rabbits in anime after watching THAT. And the descriptions in the book are ten times more gruesome.
Holy Frikin' FUCK.
But then... then we get such a cathartic scene, as he confesses his greatest anguish, the black thorn of agonizing suffering he's been silently carrying lodged in his soul.
It's one of Re:Zero's most important moments. Together with that whole chapter with just Subaru and Rem talking. It's one of those moments that allow him to keep jumping into the sadistic meat grinder that is his fate.
Of course, you have to remember that this is Re:Zero, and it can and will out do itself. You are only a third of the way through this season, and look already at all the shit that's happened.

33:20: I have been completely unable to find the top 10 list you referenced(and that showed up in your twitch comments a couple weeks ago) but it appears to be a “most watched on specific website list” not a rating or most watched overall. Re-zero does in fact appear as the #1 most highly rated Isekai on multiple other lists.
as re:zero should be, though even with that kind of rating, i rarely hear any isekai fan i meet speak about re:zero. the only place i find actual re:zero fans at are in re:zero communities. whenever i ask anyone outside of it about re:zero, they make me think re:zero is some underrated anime people arent giving a chance to still lol

Overlord, mushoku tensei , no game no life and konosuba are in my opinion Re: Zero s only iseakai rivals I suppose that Grimgar of fantasy and ash could rival it if you compare an equal amount of episodes, due to its powerful and raw emotional beats and characters.
These series are not rival to Re:Zero nor any anime. Re:Zero writing is beyond "Anime" it can be compared to best fantasy books.
That last scene is with Subaru breaking down broke my heart... The voice acting showcasing the true loneliness Subaru has felt, having to rely only on himself to get over all of this.
the most heart breaking thing to me is that all the beautifull things he experienced get rewound and nobody will ever remember them again, nobody will ever know how much he sacraficed to save them...

I don't think any person has the power and sanity to act normal as Subaru after experiencing death so many times and in horrible ways. Bro was eaten alive until they ate a part of his brain to shut it down but instead he came back remembering all that pain. As an empathetic person who's only fear is pain, I got traumatized by this scene
