HABU \\ DIY Compost\Dry Toilet

  • As you know from my previous video I'm building a camper at the moment. And because every camper needs a toilet I wanted to build my own dry toilet.
    Why? Because they run with no chemicals and building one on your own is way cheaper!! I had all the materials lying around in my shop, but if you had to buy them it would be something around 50€/$...
    So have fun, get inspired and build your own version!
    This weeks sponsors:

    Stampyours: stampyours.com/
    HABU's Tip Cup: www.paypal.me/...
    Thank you!! And don't forget to: #thumbupordown #Subscribe & #Share
    Disclaimer: This is NOT a instructional "step-by-step" "how to" video! It is just an inspiration for you, and also an advertising for my person and skills... Hassan Abu-Izmero(HABU)

    Thank you!! I am looking to build my own off-grid toilet and I have watched a lot of videos!! Yours is the BEST toilet video I have seen!! I appreciate that you did the film as an easy to follow step by step process. You are quite a craftsman. The job was professional from start to finish. I'm impressed!

    These are AWESOME! I built one for going to the desert and it was the only reason my former partner would...'go'. Two things to think about. First is the liquid container. I used a large old liquid clothes washing liquid bottle. They have a little clear stripe up one side to so you can see how full it is. But it's mostly opaque so nobody really knows what's in it. Why this is important is that you can easily carry it into a public toilet, etc., and nobody will look at you. Then you just pour it down the toilet and flush. Easy peasy, nobody gets queasy ;-) Second thing to think about is a very small 12v computer fan. I had my toilet in an off-road trailer and it was more or less rigidly fixed. I put a 50mm pvc vent tube from the box through the roof of the trailer (with a rain cover, of course) and added a small computer fan in it. None of the 50mm tubing was glued, just press fit so it was easy to remove if necessary. That way it drew air out of the box, up the vent, and out the trailer. That made the box extremely dry, no smells AT ALL and it worked a treat even when it was very humid. Then you can just toss the green bag in any skip or rubbish bin as it's literally just compost. Well done! Your backside will thank you ;- Ps. Saw dust works fine, especially as you have lots of it. But for those who don't have it, you can get coconut husk bricks at any pet supply store. It's used for gerbil cages, etc. It works even better, is cheap, and the bricks are very compact for storage until you break one up for used.

      Thank you for this.
      I recently finished a camper and had a normal toilet but the septic system is a nightmare and keeps having issues.
      Then, right as I needed it... HABU! Habu to the rescue and friendly knowledge people to spread the wealth of information.
      This is a decent weekend project to use all of my scraps and stuff I have at home. I'll probably use Kydex for the urinal or just make a separate standing urinal tube out of PVC with a wide adapter and a cap. I've seen those work really well.

    • @henrycolestage7650
      @henrycolestage7650 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DanteYewToob I did make a standing urinal tube (just a tube with a funnel and cap zip tied to the wall) in my toilet area along with the toilet that went into a small container under the trailer with a dump valve below it. Most of the time it just dumped out below the trailer but if you needed to spend any time in, say, a car park, it was nice to able to use it and then just turn the valve to dump it when in the dirt. Especially for off-road use, it was nice to be able to get up in the middle of the night and return a beer or two back to whence it came without having to go outside AND you didn't fill up the liquid container in the toilet box. You do really need the urine diverter in the toilet, most especially for any ladies who use it but the tube is great if you don't want to go outside because of weather, night, laziness, or mosquitos!

    Using composting toilet for many years now here are some advices : put a one way valve (there is special valve for this specific use) on your pee tank (pee ferment and stinks really quickly) and use your harvested pee to water your plant (1pee volume for 9 water volume, every 20 days per 1 square meter of soil)
    Mix plane shavings and saw dust to increase exchange surface area (it will help drying and absorbing at the same time)

    • @reduniverse0
      @reduniverse0 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      10 liters of global volume for watering plant with liquid gold ^^

      Urine turns to ammonia after 24 hours (so says the internet, which is never wrong haha). Hence the smell. Also, once you have urine/ammonia it will kill plants and weeds.

    • @reduniverse0
      @reduniverse0 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@greghoughton5993 yeah it could kill plants if you only water them with it. But watering them with diluted solution of urine and water (10% of urine 90% of water) not less than every 20 days, and respecting a watering surface of 10 liter of mix per square meter you will actually fertilize your soil and plants.
      Think about it, every wild animal pee in the nature and the planet is not a big desert created by every earthling's pee...

    Material for urine separator:
    Veralite 200:
    is an extruded transparent plastic sheet based upon PETG (Glycol modified Polyethylene Terephthalate). PETG has the advantage of not crystallizing when heating. This makes it easily processable. Veralite 200 is the best choice for complex processing and detailed thermoforming

    I got to say that's not only humanure for me Since I started doing it, my physical, mental and spiritual health inproved a lot. I recovered from a very hard and difficult to cure disease. Because of this, I could start doing in my life and invent many new things that I could not before due to poor health and poor general condition. Beacause of this, I was able to start working a lot physically and intellectually. I also feel better spritually- happier and freer to do good things and generally as me and I can also give this happiness to others. The very sad thing is that people do not want to see that the changes that have taken place are the results of working towards humanure.

    Composting toilets need to seal in odor. This can easily be done with your design by having a removalble lid that sits onto the crap container with a rubber seal. Before and after usage the user temporarily sets the lid aside. A more elegant design would have a sealing lid on top.

    Nach 4 Wochen "hartem" Einsatz in Norwegen kann ich dir allerdings - leider - sagen: Das tut so nicht :-(
    Im Wesentlichen wirst Du den Boden nochmal ändern müssen, denn beim "Flüssigen" sabbert IMMER etwas daneben, und das fängt dann wirklich an zu stinken - und wird Dir Deine Rahmenkonstruktion aufzuweichen und im schlimmsten Fall auch ins Fahrzeug tropfen. Mindestens würde ich daher den Rahmen komplett wasser-/säurefest lackieren, außerdem die Kanten mit Silikon abdichten. Ich habe mich nach dieser Reise entschieden, mir eine Bodenwanne aus (vermutlich) Zinkblech anfertigen zu lassen, die den unteren Rahmen und das Bodenbrett komplett ersetzt.
    Aus dem selben Grund würde ich dir auch empfehlen - das hab ich gottseidank gleich gemacht -, das komplette System so abzudichten, dass während dem Transport (im Fahrzeug) kein Geruch austreten kann. Also eine Dichtung zwischen Deckel und Rahmen (und ein eine entsprechende Verriegelung) und besonders auch eine zwischen Klobrille und -deckel (und ebenfalls ein Verschluss, der den Deckel auf holprigen Straßen unten hält)! Wie gesagt, GRUNDSÄTZLICH stimmt es, dass diese Toiletten ziemlich Geruchsneutral sind - wir waren da auch echt überrascht - aber egal wie oft Du den Kanister leerst, um einen leicht beißenden Uringeruch wirst Du nach einiger Zeit kaum herumkommen.
    Wenn Du das Teil IM Fahrzeug benutzen willst, wäre daher auch ein Lüfter nach außen sinnvoll - wir haben das Teil jeden Tag in ein kleines Popup-Duschzelt neben unseren T4 gestellt, da braucht man den meines Erachtens nicht zwingend.
    Ich hoffe, meine Tipps ersparen Dir vielleicht ein paar unschöne Erfahrungen, viel Spaß und hoffentlich bald eine gute Reise!

      Mit Wasser vermischtes Chlordioxid tötet Bakterien, Pilze und Viren ab (auch Geruch), es lohnt sich dort einzusetzen, wo wir den unangenehmen Geruch von organischen Rückständen wahrnehmen. Viele weitere Informationen dazu finden Sie im Antje Oswald MMS und Jim Humble MMS Application Guide Buch

    When I say that God with His grace can heal through nature and act through infinite number of things, even believers in God often knock on the head and tell me that I am mentally ill or something. And I've just been in bad condition but it keeps getting all the way better. Certainly there are many graces of God in action for matters which are missing in the world and about which people think that they are not working but work wonderfully. I hope that it will gradually change and people will be able to take advantage of the good that is contained in this matter and also be able to discover many other wonders so far hidden for humanity or old and forgotten or considered not working but works great.
    Cordial greetings and blessing for You everyone ❤
