I am actually German and sadly, there are SO many German TV channels, where this kind of stuff is presented. In not such a good way... :T Let's put in here the best example: RTL RTL is the most popular TV channel in the whole country. I don't know the correct numbers, but of course very high. And it never deserved it. And it WILL never deserve it. Example time: A few years ago, RTL asked a quite well known german gaming youtuber, GLP (If you know him, be happy about it) who doesn't show himself, if they could "talk" about him on TV. He made the terrible mistake and said yes. They made him the FILTHIEST person they ever saw. And other gamers weren't save either. They one time "interviewed" SOME people on a gaming convention... These SOME were people who did look like homeless peo- I MEAN people who looked pretty nasty. They wanted to tell the people watching, that gamers WERE FU**ING HOBOS WHO DIDN'T HAVE A JOB! But... *I'm slowly loosing my mind right now* the best part is... In the background were just some normal people looking around. AND OF COURSE THEY DIDN'T TALK WITH THEM! THEY WANT TO GODDAMN *KILL* GAMING! They also ma- make doc- docume- ntaries, about how playing video games infects the people. And guess what; Yeeeeeaaaaah, guess what! They only talked about negative points. And when they do this, they NEVER have any clue what the people are talking about. So, in Documentaries like this piece of crap up there, they tell that Patchouli Knowledge is Cirno... Cirno.... I can't take it anymore... That's also the reason why I swtched to TH-cam.... Because of THIS ;w;

As an old fashioned person who listens to a lot of old music, uses old technology, plays old games, watches old films, uses retro cameras, etc. This video made me depressed because I started thinking about how less retarded life was more than 30 years ago.
I'm learning German as a second language, I can say that the subtitles are accurate. It's a good translation, not a literal one (often the same thing has been phrased completely differently in the English). Though there's one or two details that the English has missed out, though, but I'm nitpicking.
First thought it was a reupload of the translation I did 2 years ago, but then noticed the differences. I uploaded it to vimeo back then cause it would auto flag on youtube. Vimeo also had no issues with there being tits.
Yeah, if you think about it, it's pretty obvious why the documentary went as it went. What on earth were you supposed to say about the games? "You shoot stuff up, some story happens, you get different characters and some nice music". The impact on the people is what was interesting. So this is what they were focusing on. But just having someone like Touhou, the games, being part of the fandom, without being somewhat weird, is pretty boring. All in all, an average fan is nothing special, so you HAVE to pick the special snowflakes in order to produce something entertaining. And they DID mention the doujin scene, which is pretty much what makes Touhou so strong. All in all, the documentary depicts fans in a negative and cringy way, but ultimately there simply are no nice things to say either. You like the Touhou Project, because you like the characters, the design, the music, the story, the fans, the jokes, the memes. But ultimately this is super boring for a documentary. It would be like you trying to show your friends: "Hey, hey look, this fairy here, she's super stupid, and she thinks she's the strongest, she won't even hit you. She's pretty cute and clumsy though. Isn't she adorable?" "Uh... whatever you say, dude". EDIT: "Normal" fans of something are never interesting, and there is simply no way of showing outstanding fans in a positive light. E.g. at 9:11 »He increases the speed and adds a pinch of hardcore hentai« Short after that: Speaker says "Pornosternchen" (porn stars) and in the subtitles is "cute girls". At some point they said "escort bars" while the subtitles say "maid cafés". Edit: it barely matches most of the time after that since the speaker is too cringe but I haven't kept attention to the subtitles that much.
