You must be a world class cricketer if you think a player running 100 feet to catch a solid ball dropping at high speed out of the night sky is a easy catch.
@@isurulakshanlk No one standing in slips WISHES for it to be travelling at 100 mph......90 mph is almost impossible to see and react to. Although it is possible to get an edge at 100 mph plus.
"That is way too easy", bro calling a one-handed slip catch way too easy. Calling the swinging high boundary catches easy is just ridiculous, mate. You've gotta understand the cricket ball is harder than the baseball and gonna hurt more. Also you're not provided with a huge glove to pouch the ball. Seriously? Those fast catches are easy? Then man I'd love to see you try at half the ball speed.
You may not realise that a cricket oval is a minimum of 190 YARDS long and 90 YARDS wide. That means that the wicket is roughly 95 yards from each end. As others have commented, if the ball is caught near the boundary on the long axis, it has travelled close to 100 YARDS, or 300 feet. Count how long it takes in real time to reach the boundary and you can imagine how fast it is travelling when it's caught, often one-handed, by someone who isn't wearing a glove/mitt, and may be jumping to make the catch. There are quite a few cricket teams in the USA. Maybe visit one, and get one of the players to hit the ball to you for you to catch bare-handed
@suemoore984 The problem is not just with catching with gloves, though smaller space is a bad excuse to justify that, but fielding is so much more difficult in cricket. Especially, the slips, where he caught it one-handed off the spinner, the reaction time is like that of a catcher when suppose a batter edges and changes the trajectory at the last moment. In that situation, to catch it straight with two hands is a big skill, whereas he caught it one handed. That is by no means easy. No means.
Saying some of these catches are easy is a bit rich coming from a country where they have to use a giant glove to catch a ball. I don’t think you understand how fast the ball is moving when it comes off the bat or how super fast the reactions of the catcher have to be for close catches or how hard the ball is when it hits your hand. If you swung your bat with a base ball stance you would be out first ball!
Now please watch a demonstration of what a spin bowler can make a cricket ball do. Then re-think the 'wild swing tactic', you're not going to connect with one of these deliveries. Try '20 Shocking Spin Deliveries In Cricket' :)
@@DavidBainGaming Not to mention gully catches by " BIG BIRD" himself, Joel Garner and the freakish gully catches by Ashly Mallet who was so blind he couldn't see to bat properly . Then Matt Haydens impossible gully catch of a bullet that he had to dive full length with out stretched arm to a ball that had already passed him. That catch is one of the best of all time, but never seen in these phoney best of videos .
It's been typed more than once, typing it again to make you understand that the batting hand is an extension of the bat. So catches are valid if the ball hits the batsman's glove en route to a fielder.
The hardest catch is in the covers when the ball comes chest high with so much spin that you hear it fizzing and it's curling slightly.... It's going to hurt.
Some of your comments are naive (and that's ok). You need to realise that the batter's have about 0.7 of a second, to see the line of the ball (which can also deviate off the bounce) and decide on a shot. There's nothing easy about it. Also, when it comes to the catching. They're bare handed, and a cricket ball is only slightly softer than concrete.
I remember back in the Brett Lee days they were saying you had about 0.4 of second reaction time from the bowlers hand to the batsman. Makes you wonder how they hit the ball at all!
man you can swing as much as you want you would not hit anything , Shane Warne would have you shitting yourself with what he could do with a cricket ball and he is a spin bowler , some one like Mayank Yadav Lucknow Super Giants bowles at 156.7 kmph , x x
A baseball stance with the bat behind your shoulder is no good to you. The area you are defending is on the ground so that is where your bat needs to be.
There is a T20 match being played tomorrow, the 12th at 7:30pm Australian Eastern Summer time between the Australian Women's team and England's Women's team you may want to see if you can get live. As a T20 game it should only last about 3-4 hours and should be good, These two are #1 (Australia) and either #2 or #3 (England) depending on who you talk to and the rivalry is unmatched.
Glove is part of the bat if it is holding the bat. Mate, you would struggle to catch a crucket ball. Harder and heavier than a baseball. I have taken catches that would make this list, sometimes when drunk.
You need to watch a lot more cricket - you seriously don't have a clue. The ball is heavier and harder then a baseball. They are catching it bare-handed. The field is 8 times bigger than a baseball pitch. You wouldn't survive one ball.
Catching balls over the boundary line and throwing the ball back in for a catch is the most obscene desecration of the laws of cricket. The ICC should be ashamed this was ever allowed to happen.
As long as you release the ball before landing outside the boundary, I don't have a problem. Unless you throw it back over the boundary to your advantage and catch it before your you have contact with the ground. I have a problem with that. But the rule is that it is OK. And then there are the juggling acts. It comes down to how the rule is worded.
Obviously a very biased video probably made by a Australian or englishman cause there are great catches that are not there especially from gary kirsten
This compilation is made by the England Cricket Board. It does not include many better catches taken in Australia or ANYWHERE outside of Britain! 😮 Some DAMN GOOD catches, though! 🥰👍 The GLOVES, when holding the BAT, are VALID for a catch. M 🦘🏏😎

When the ball comes off the edge of the bat its probably doing in excess of 100mph

I don't think Mark Waugh ever hit a ball harder than necessary. One of the most elegant batsmen ever.
Yes the gloves is part of the bat!
When a ball comes off a fielder's ankle/butt and still gets caught by the wicketkeeper, that's a catch and a half.
Your batting technique is just setting yourself up for a yorker. That's another thing to react to, classic yorkers.

I would add clean bowls as well
Bro chill ! They are Americans they don't understand anything except handegg🏈 sorry football
Only a couple of these would make into the actual 40 greatest catches ever.
Not a single catch from Glenn Philips, and he has taken some of the most ridiculous catches in gully you'll ever see

As for validating the catch, hawkeye is used in determining whether the batsman hit the ball or not! Btw the hands are considered part of the bat!
