This song by John Lennon is a masterpiece of the highest order. An exquisitely beautiful, deeply spiritual composition that only John Lennon could have created.
My husband and I were married 64 years, 5 months, 25 days, He went to the Lord 6 years ago. I was 16 - he was 20 when we married. I still thank God for bringing him into my life, but I still miss him so very, very much. Robert Browning words "Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be" is imprinted on our grave marker. My husband was a wonderful man who could and did make me laugh until our last two weeks together.
Clara, if I may address you as such, this is one of my dear wife's and my favourite songs. I truly believe that your husband watches over you and merely waits for the time you when join him, always remember "the best is yet to come." Nothing dies, it just changes form, may your life be blessed and your laughter continue as I am sure he would want.
this is so beautiful Ms Mills. WE hope to have what you and your husband shared.Divine love and a wonderful life to look back on.Praying for you as you pass through a time of such loss. God is still with you , comforting and bringing peace daily.
God Bless You, John. Thank you for leaving this beautiful song with us. As you can see, what you were not able to finish in your lifetime has taken on a life of its own.
This is a beautiful song by John Lennon. You know when a song is exceptional when it hits you emotionally. Certainly the best composition by John in his lifetime as a Beatle or solo career. This cover is wonderful ❤️
During his anonymous years 1976-1980, John actually composed handful of immortal evergreens on his living room piano and 3 of them as good as this one. Here we go Again is my favorite.
I am amazed that many do not know this splendid song that John wrote shortly before he was killed. Many have it performed in church when they get married.
@Kevin Wolfe The guy who murdered Lennon did it out of the same kind of "love." A religious statement. If he were Muslim you'd be calling him a terrorist.
This has to be one of the best love songs ever composed by one of the former Beatles John Lennon. It certainly hits your emotions every time you listen to it. The arrangement for this song with the orchestra and backing choir and the wonderful singer makes John Lennons song even more special. An awesome performance.
This is one of the prettiest and sweetest melodies/songs John Lennon ever wrote, and it’s crazy to think that many people have never heard it, and aren’t even aware of it. Made me tear up. 🥲
Beautiful song: I remember listening to Lennon sing this on my big, bulky stereo system in college while trying to come to grips with the fact that he was gone
Beautiful lyrics . He had the nack of writing a good tune. What a pity he never got the chance to grow old with Yoko. RIP John Lennon. And the lyrics are for a special some one . God , as we know , bless our love.
Enough to make you cry just with the lyrics which is probably just a demo. Oh man the songs John Lennon could've made. If I can write songs, this would be my standard.
@Bret 1959 Glenn Campbell and Mary Chapin Carpenter captured it Sio much better. If John had time to have done a proper recording, it would/should have been a Standard.
@kevinpeterson6468 this beautiful song by John is complete imo. I don't personally think that Paul and Ringo can improve this amazing song even if they wanted to which I don't think they will. Now and then was the very last Beatles record ever.
Blessed and Glad to have lived and continue living in the magnificent eras of the FAB FOUR.........to the nostalgia of the Threetles...now down to the legend of the TWO surviving Beatles!
Robert Browning’s poem with these beautiful words, (Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be.....) together with John Lennon’s lovely music. Thank you, this is a successful combination.
@@TLCaputo Completely false. Written in answer to a (crappy) Yoko song based on poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Lennon, in turn wrote this song which was inspired by a poem by Robert Browning, her husband.
Mary Chapen Carpenter(country-ish) recorded it yrs ago. I sang it at our 20th anniversary. Now 43 yrs! Still one of my fav songs. Annie Moses Band does it beautifully!
@Bret 1959 No John Lennon ,was John Lennon, complicated ,contradictory, argumentative, trouble making, outrageous, uncompromising, but always brilliant, that was my hero John Lennon.
This was one of my wife's favorite songs. I remember when we first heard it. I was amused when Annie called it an "old tune." But then yesterday was my birthday. Let's just say I am older than the tune. But love AMB and have enjoyed watching them grow over the years. They are amazing.

Amazing version of this song. Amazing family! We'll all of their versions of the songs they perform have their personal touch and excellence. So thankful our society has this music. This is real music. My grandchildren love their songs and I don't have to worry about a filter. I'm a big fan. I don't go to concerts. I have seen them three times this year.
Well done! A wonderful arrangement for a beautiful song. The orchestra and choir did a marvelous job adding depth and breadth for emotional impact. I'm sure George Martin would have approved as he used the same techniques to fill out many of the more famous songs written by John, Paul, George, and Ringo, the last being the LOVE version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps. The Beatlesque Easter egg at the end was also a nice touch, adding the rhyme "Amen" - Greek for "Let It Be".
Beautifully done. Not sure how I got to this channel this morning but I'm glad I did. I guess I saw that this was John Lennon's last song so I thought I would take a look at it. My target was Mary Chapin Carpenter but I saw the violins and thought I would give it a listen. The violinist here, including Ms. Moses, reminded a little of Karolina Protsenko. More dynamic in their presentation. I like that too. I wonder why I have never heard of this band before? It looks more like an orchestra and supports a large group of performers. Karolina has more then 10m subscribers on several channels - 8.23m on her main channel with more than 1.25 billion views. I suspect she will lead the future of music into a blend of contemporary (pop) and classical presentation. Where better to start than the Beatles and JOHN LENNON. Their music lends itself to that interpretation. Karolina mostly plays on her own right now but her interpretation of the Beatles is similar to what we have here. Karolina just turned 15 but I think Ms. Moses (if that's her singing) and Karolina ought to get together and make a little music together. Starting with the Beatles!!!!!
There's nothing in this world with such beautiful music from all of you. God has blessed you all with your instruments and voices. One more thing I thought to mention. Recently I bought a used mandolin hoping to learn and play it. Wasn't long after I gave it to my son who is a guitar player. These short fingers of mine didn't quite make it. I guess I will stick to my keyboard.
Lennon & McCartney and Harrison...all great! Even Ringo wrote a few great ones " _Octopus Garden" "Photograph", "It Don't Come Easy_ " George gave him a hand with the latter 2 but still great music from a great period in time 🚶♂️🚶♂️🚶♂🚶 🖤

@@lindachristian9574 It is heaven on earth.
absolutely agree!
John Lennon, the best pop singer and songwriter of all times!
It is sad that this song is so little known. And the only reason is that there has never been a rendition that did it justice.
The greatest artist in the last century ...
Robert B Browning AND John Lennon write this gorgeous song! It’s absolutely a beautiful poem set to the best of J Lennon’s musicality. ❤
@@Suzanhanson8478 Lennon only borrowed the opening line of the poem. The rest is his.
I love Lennon but McCartney was ahead.

Beautiful cover. I played the original at my wedding. Still makes me cry. John would be very happy.
What a lovely rendition of a John Lennon song.
I sang this song to my husband in 1989 on wedding day at reception was our song he's gone now but we had the best years cause God blessed our LOVE

So very true.
This should be The Beatles last song.
I sang and played this song at a friend's wedding many years ago. What a wonderful piece.
It kills me that John Lennon wrote this and left it to the world... but he never got to grow old. What a terrible loss.
With John's song and her voice.. and the whole band. Oh how beautiful 😭😭😭😭
Beautiful beyond words
