- This video is from my time at basic with Charlie Company 3-54, the most memorable six months of my life as I underwent Infantry OSUT. Let it be known this video does not reflect the views of the DoD, the United States Army, and the United States of America as a whole.
Great advices: 1.) Avoid creating unwanted attention. 2.) Observe everything around. 3.) Be a team player. 4.) Don't quit / Never give up.
Will always be Fort Benning.
No Slack!
Not anymore. New generation of soldiers are leaving the names of rebels behind. Good riddance I say.
I was in basic at Sand Hill back in 2005. Our drill sergeants were absolutely ruthless and didnt let up until pretty much the last week of AIT. We couldnt even drink milk just water and Powerade and we always had our weapons with us.
Good times!!! I was there in 1997.
Back then everyone was going to deploy and knew it
@@c431inf I remember my senior drill sergeant telling us that some of us were going to die and he was right. My battle buddy went to the 82nd and was killed in Samarra Iraq in March 2007. His name is Corey Kosters and they have a statue of him in Houston Texas now. There were a few others in my class that were killed as well.
Sand hill, what a time to be alive

These days its apparently wokeness that makes green grass grow. 🙄

23:34 I laughed so hard at the recruit on the let thinking he was about to get fucked up 😂
For the people that have been in and done their time this is not for you. If you are going in and worried dont worry just dont give up and do your best you will get through the standards have kinda gone down so you can definitely make it.
If you're going in and think this is too easy then do a year or 2 then try out for a selection rangers, Special forces, civil affairs or psyops. Or go to schools or get a place that have special schools like Hawaii with jungle school for example. Go to air assault school. Ranger school, airborne school, pathfinder, sapper. Get your expert infantryman badge. There is alot of suck and toughness for you to try for that you wont get in other branches.
If your thinking about joining the infantry get a high asvab as possible. You can request duty stations ones with alot of opportunities and great aiports nearby are places like Italy, Alaska, Hawaii, Korea, Germany, Kentucky.
No branch is as big and no branch does more. Get after it and have a strong mindset
Fucking solid advice.
I’m interested in joining for cybersecurity. Did phenomenal on PiCAT. Where can I look into more opportunities for schools to further my education along the tech side?
@@richesraptor if your meaning the army. The army offers opportunity's to get your certifications and if you wanna aim for college then the army does tuition assistance. And obviously the GI Bill which covers college. But companies love when you have experience, a degree and your certifications if you work hard theres alot of options. Just be prepared cybersecurity is a tough school to pass they test you alot. And alot of people fail that one specifically. Just focus on studying when you get to AIT.

I was Chaos back in 2020, i was in first platoon. Best time of my life but the unit was a little toxic at the time. I do miss Fort Benning, i loved Georgia but dude the winter was terrible, i was also recycled so from sep 14 - june 17 i was just at OSUT. Welcome to the brotherhood i know you been in for a while would love to ge to know you.
I was fourth platoon, and the first three months as a winter cycle were unnecessarily cold. Then we got rained on almost every time we slept out in the field for our AIT portion; however, I have no regrets of ever going through and I made close bonds with several people in there.
What made it toxic?
Toxic???
D-2/19 went in Jan on 2020. Covid made it a pain (mask on “all the time”, and every meal had to be eaten outside on the ground. There was an air of “if one of us gets sick we are all getting chaptered). I went to the Winder clinic early in red phase and it was a fucking zoo. No guidance whatsoever, so instead of getting physical therapy for my leg I was given a physical where they discovered a blood disorder I “failed to mention during enlistment” and was chaptered out. The return to 30AG after was more b.s.
I'm glad my diploma says Ft Benning 😊
Yup. I'll never be able to call this place anything other than Benning.
@@Jdelli0916 same
Yep, got it framed up on my wall
Alpha-6-1 June to September 1983. At the Sand Hilton. Cohort unit. Ft Benning then straight to Panzer Kaserne, Boeblingen, West Germany. Basic and AIT was a blast!
I guess they're only showing the parts that make it look like fun. I'm thinking of enlisting in the CAF sometime soon and wanted to watch as many videos as possible to get an idea of what it's like. I don't want to assume that it's all going to be like this though. I'm prepared to work hard.
Correct. I was at Benning in 2021 D-2/19. We are not seeing the morning formations, the fuckery by the drill sergeants (lock your damn locker), the exercises in the sleeping areas. Since it was covid, we were officially not allowed to learn grapples/hand to hand combat, but a DS ensured we did (at least our platoon). What we are seeing is the technical stuff, the “main events,” so to speak. Between all this, there were smoke sessions, that I can promise you.
Just don't catch yourself in "Paralysis by analysis"
You will be tired, hungry, sore and homesick. You will also be a soldier, hero, respected and an inspiration to others. Hard times build strong men 💪🇺🇸
This is my comment to everyone down in the comment section and future viewers to see, and my personal perspective on the way basic training is now in the Army, so you do not have to agree of course. 1.) I know that the title of the video has some people talking over Fort Benning being called Fort Moore, and honestly if you graduated from Fort Benning before the name change, I thank you all for making the history of such a historic place and your service for however long you have or were in. I do not feel that a name change should affect the way we feel about a place, let alone a place where brotherhoods and memories were made for the time we were there, even after we've left. I understand that for some of you, you did not like the name change, and that's understandable, however, we should not let that define what Fort Benning or Fort Moore (whatever you want to call it) gave to us. | 2.) I know basic training was not like it was in the past, however, I can tell you from personal experience from the reality within this video that our Drill Sergeants did not baby us around. While they would get relaxed over the course of time, they still did not hesitate to smoke the life out of us and curse you out when you were messed up. While I understand it may not necessarily be at the same scale it was in previous eras, they definitely do not baby you whatsoever, and will tell you straightforward that they can and will send you home without a second thought. | 3. I understand we all have different beliefs in everything, especially politically, and while I'm sure some of you don't agree with some of our current military leaders, we all know one thing for certain. That is our love of the Army, regardless of our different beliefs, and we should not downplay our beloved branch of service. We all came into the Army for various reasons, but we can never forget what we shared in the Army, and it is that the Army gave us a second life and family to look up to. A lineage we should be proud of, and a future we should all be supporting, no matter what.
With this comment I can say you are the light in the dark and thank you
Absolutely perfect statement.
i was there June 05 to aug 17

Exactly but it's a good thing, because it's a big "F*CK YOU" to the ARMY and the military as a whole.

You can join at 27, as long as nothing else inhibits you. If you’re out of shape you can still join. They have new programs now. I joined at 29. Talk to your local recruiter about your options. Maybe Reserves or National Guard will suit you best. More flexibility.
Good luck!
I went through Sand Hill when I was 30 😆
I'm 31 and headed to bootcamp soon. If you have some self discipline, exercises, eat well, educate yourself. Tell yourself you can do it, then work for it. Move with a purpose. You can do it.

@OrenNewKid Sorry. In addition to running 5 plus miles a day, you better do at least 200 sit-ups and push-ups. No matter what, unless you are a world-class athlete, you aren't ready. Just want to make sure you get in 😆

Interesting, you know you'll be an 11C before you go in? When I went in about 15 years ago you enlisted as an 11X and the. They told you if you were going to be an 11B or and 11C when you got there.
That’s my cycle 😂😂
Basic Training is still 10 weeks?
6 months OSUT
Basic training plus AIT can takes months to over a year depending on MOS. This is the Infantry MOS’. They do OSUT (One Station Unit Training). So instead of basic training then going to another base for AIT, they stay at the same base for it all.
How strict were the DS, and how were the smoke sessions?, I wanna join as a 12B but im being told that it’s super soft and it leaves a bad reputation in my mind
The Drill Sergeants progressively become more relaxed as the cycle goes along, depending on how you and everyone in your platoon and company acts. For Red Phase, they'll seem strict, but they're really just trying to instill discipline into you all and give you the understanding that it is a part of being a soldier. From my experience, it's not this badass, hardcore training that some might expect, but they're definitely not babying you and they'll make it known. As for the smoke sessions, it varies from drill sergeant to drill sergeant, you'll have one who smokes you like there is no tomorrow and others that'll only smoke you for like a minute, depending on what it is they're smoking you for. I would say altogether to go for what it is you're trying to do, and don't let what others say influence you into not joining, it's definitely worth it and it will take you a long way.
that’s the exact answer i was looking for, thanks
Ya gotta keep in mind, this shit’s only a couple months long, in the scheme of 4 years, that’s pretty short, BCT could be a drag queen story hour and that’d still not be enough reason not to join, basic will not matter.
Wait, y’all got phone access?
Was in Paris island back in 2019. I know that all the branches got much more relaxed in their basic training. But we got screamed at constantly, it was chaos 24/7 and didn’t let up until after we got our EGA. There’s no intensity here, it’s uncomfortably quiet most of the time. The recruits were yelling more than the instructors.
will you guys shut up about this? the army is far bigger than the marine corps, theres no need to have that type of warrior culture when most of the trainees arent going to server anywhere near a combat role, unlike a marine. talk to anyone who graduated from fort benning and their stories will be more on par with paris island.
@@insidethefire1 The "cultures" in the Army are unit dependent. There's units that have less of a "warrior" culture than the Marine Corps and some of that have more of it. It's a big Army.

I thought there was no swimming portion required?
It is not required for regular basic training. Fort Moore is normally for soldiers coming in to be officers. They have to do a separate boot camp or do two basic trainings back to back. Fort Moore combines the two. That is why this boot camp video shows water combat, it is for officer training phase one and two. Officers also have an 18 day mission, regular basic training will not have that either.

Speak to your local recruiter and ask them everything you need and want to know about enlisting, also make sure to do your research on all the jobs available. If you have a bachelor's degree, look into commissioning to be an officer too, see what you would need to do. If you live out of the US, I know there's a way to enlist in with the US military, but I don't know what it would be, however, I'm sure someone will eventually come in the comments that knows what to do.
