Most people who want to go road racing don't start off in a 48-year old station wagon. However it you're Tim "SkyScrape" Katz, the co-founder of "TAPOUT" you just say "F*CK IT", and build a wagon with the big 'ole V8 engine, a basketball size turbo, a roll cage and four racing seats so the family can come along for the ride. Tim's 1966 Chevrolet Nova Wagon was built in his garage and is anything but stock. Sure it's got some trick parts, but if you think it's a high-dollar resto-rod, think again as Tim's not only one helluva wrench, but one of the most die-hard car guys you're ever likely to meet. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
its easy to pick a man apart about his car, and when you don't know him personally, but i enjoy the videos, I am happy people still make cars their own, and late model injected turbo motors are my weakness, thanks for doing something different, i enjoy video and the time you guys took to throw it together and interview the owner.
Wagons are great. 4 racing seats and a cage in a boosted LS powered Nova Wagon? YES!!! Like Tim said, people ask why and it is simply cause he wanted to. That is the right answer.
It is very cool that he put those hours in it. No factory car can touch that. That is Big Muscle.
I like this guys building style.. Im sort of the same way... If the majority of people say why something shouldnt be done or how its not a good engine to build or a car to build i wanna prove them wrong.
Of course the tapout car would have soo many gaudy stickers
Thx to this guy for creating TAPOUT a brand of clothing that allows the public to identify low life douchebags from a safe distance.
LOL!! Ed Hardy clothing too!
it's funny because he comes off as a down to earth guy. i like the build, it's inspiring.
lol seems like a cool dude though.
man this show is great. so good to see these types of builds over the slammed turds with small tires i'm forced to see on the roads these days lol
I have mad respect for what you've done. I hope you keep some asses. I love cars that are different. Actually, I like a lot of cars. A lot of times it's the story behind the car that draws me to it. And yours definitely does that. I would love to see the 55 when it is finished.
The passion put in those cars is incredible
finally !! a real BIG MUSCLE episode :) that nova is sick !!
I saw this at the Hot Rod Power Tour in 2013 and I loved it. Now after this video I will own this thing.
I've always been a massive wagon fan and I've seen so many cool things, but I like how this car is done. I like the seats, interior, paint, everything. I think the car is pure awesomeness. Looks like it was purpose built - FUN. Smile on the face!
Thumbs up dude.
Great Job Tim "SkyScrape" Katz! My dream car is a 66/67 nova wagon but could not afford one so I bought a 66 AMC Rambler Wagon and my dream would be to autocross it one day too. Keep up the good work........ wagons are cool!
LOVE THIS CAR. And the owner is a pretty cool guy too. Glad you covered his car. That turbo is HUGE.
Tim seems like a good guy. Good video - always nice to learn about guys who do the brunt of the work themselves.
Awesome return to Big Muscle Mike M.!! I was so happy there wasn't a part 3 of the KOH race this week.
I rolled up the fat Woolford and got all schmoked up while watching this episode. Car sounds wicked!
I don't give a dame about what people say nor think . . but that a badass nova wagon.
never would've thought the guy behind Tapout was so cool.
Those straight bar supports in the backs of the seats worry me. get rear ended, and i feel like one of them would just kind of poke through the person sitting in that seat.
This was an awesome episode, it would be cool Mike of you got to drive another one of his cars. I like this guys humbleness even though he has the money to build whatever he wants.
man i love this GUY and i know a lot of carguys here specially muscle guys will understand him! my MAN!
THAT TURBO JUST TAKES ME TO ANOTHER WORLD! This is muscle car heaven :)
Oil burning hard...
Great episode. Nice that you managed to squeeze some depth into it.
Love the show, best episode yet. Totally identify, working on my cars is my therapy.
Brilliant episode! I think a lot of us can relate to the owners view, thanks for sharing this Mike!
Respect for building it yourself.
one of the best episodes!! a lot of fun, good and interesting information and a hell lot of passion!!
very nice, good story line and of course the amazing Nova. My Dad and I are working on his 87' Monte Carlo SS Aero Coupe, hope to be on this series one day..
That is one sweet wagon, got a Nova myself. Love it.
Awesome car and awesome build! Hats off for that.
Big ups on showcasing the "lowly" Nova. Wish they woulda built out that 1G they showed in the photos ;)
I would like it to look more "sleeper"
This is why I will be buying your merchandise from now on! Well done man sweet ride!
I see you guys are liking our Northern California stuff. Great news !
Cool build, excentric! Make sure you adress the oil problem. Probably bad oil return feed from turbo or at worst few broken valveseals.
Truly badass, love the philosophy behind the built
Congrats, Big Muscle, on finding the one person who has the right, no, the duty of having Tapout stamped all over their car.
can you imagine the history of the wagon......and look at it now!!!!...Always like nova 2-doors...real low key...sweet
Saw them doing the cage and green wrap on it on some speed channel show a year or so ago. Glad to see it running, sounds awesome, hauls ass!
Best show on the internet.
Favorite episode so far. A proper car built by a genuine guy with his own hands : ) Nicely done chap, nicely done ! Shame the episode was so short : (
Thanks to all concerned : )
Two guys around WNC (a father and his son) both have '66 pro-touring Nova wagons. They've had them in their current states (barring wheels/tires and newer suspension parts and engine rebuilds) for probably upwards of 15-20 years.
I think I'd have to change the seats. I'd fix the oil burning issue everyone is yammering on about. I love the green paint with black trim. Great vid!
This was a really, really good video. Even for Drive. My honest congrats.
Thanks Bruno!
Excellent back-handed compliment, Batman.
Zack Klapman He might have meant that there are lots of really good Drive videos, but this one stands out as being even better than the usual high standard...
Loping Camshaft My point precisely.
Bruno Oliveira
Also while I think this wagon is awesome! I still think it would have a hard time beating a CTS-V wagon in a straight line or even in the bendies. Just saying. I think it's awesome but for the price you can probably get The CTS-V wagon For the same price with better performance and still ridiculously uncommon.
I love the styling of the car... I'll be painting my car this color
I love how angry people are in these comments because his T-shirt says Tapout, his hat is facing backwards, and his shorts have a lot of pockets.
Actually, the dumbass little tattoos he is certainly trying to "showcase" by rolling his tee shirt collar down irritate me more, not the other stuff at all.
Graham Behen, Chief Engineer at Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, explained that once you begin to push the LS3 200-plus horses beyond stock, an issue that can arise is oil blow-by caused by the excessive wearing on piston rings from the added boost.
“We have an oil/air separator, which essentially comes from the diesel engine technologies. What we do is plumb into the breather system, and return the oil from that which is pulled out of the air back into the pan with a scavenge pump. As these engines get larger and larger displacement in a smaller and smaller package size, oil control is a main problem once you start boosting these things,” said Graham.
Saw Tim race today at the muscle car nationals at the pomona fairplex. Pretty awsome setup
Would love to see his 55 2 door wagon when he gets it. That is one of my favorite designs.
Thanks for showing the Vid awesome Looking wagon. show us the rest of your babies. i love it you have the passion.
Great episode.
That’s really really cool. You were meant for success buddy! Great job !🇺🇸
Beautifull cars, humble owner, Great Video.
Whoooar! What a sound of the V8!
Thanks for the vid. Very cool owner
As common as the Nova was intended to be it looks beautiful, and very good proportions. The most important are the overhangs, small in front and big in rear, oh and those hips from the middle of rear doors are just how a car should be. And it just looks mean.
the owner seems so true ! really nice guy! and i love that you really enjoy driving this Car! you look so happy! nice video guys! keep it up!
thank you
Get the Farmtruck on this show ! c:
You had me at the burnout!!!
He owns a little company... Very respectful
His lack of shoulder belts, even thought they were clearly there, attached to the harness bar, is mind boggling.
This is what BIG MUSCLE is all about!
Super Sick !!! Dude is chill too!
Backwards baseball cap FTW.
Awesome car. I love this show! Someday I want to build a wagon.
What a awesome build.
This is one bad ass Nova Wagon.
Seems like a down to earth cool guy
thats sooo cool!
76mm turbo, mental!!
Mad props homie u is a boss that now inspired more people to be happy yeee
Nice car....wagons are the shit. Love the turbo as well. I hope to build something one day that has this kind of power and is still daily driveable.
waiting for the trolls to talk about Tapout clothing hahaha, but of course you can't blame the founder for that and he actually seems pretty nice and cool.
No really though, awesome video
Ayeee Thats's my city, Wilmington Cali ! :'D
Deep at the end there
Keep up the awesome vid!!
31 dislikes... Really!? I just don't get why. Lol. To each his own but this was awesome.
*What a a great guy!*
Guy seems cool as hell for some reason
I just rode in this at the Pomona Fairflex auto show. was wild
that's something ya don't see every day. jeezus!
DOPE!!
Thank you for sharing!
THE CAR WITH FOUR ENGINE - BAD ASS
Guy sounds pretty sure of himself when it comes to racing, boxing, football, baseball and basketball. Plenty of people build cars themselves, in their garages, with little money. What's different about this guy? Well besides having a lot of talk, he does wear his hat backwards so I guess that counts for something.
Remember the red Vette? The blue Camaro? Those are the kinds of cars at this particular race.
linglingjr And apparently there's another one that owns the company.
Yep, step onto that football court and he'll kick your ass. And if that doesn't work, he'll take you back to his garage and beat you up. Sure talked a lot of smack for someone who lied about building his car.
Saw this car at irvine C&C the other week, it was amazing
Basically.... This guy LOVES novas and TAPOUT!
Looks like a billboard with a motor
Love the second gen novas though!
more gusto with mike musto, aw yeah
Much love to Big Muscle and SkyScrape
how could you possibly dislike this video ?
The bumper bolts look like 12 gauge primers. I have a 63 and the rear window crank never stays in place, very cool car!
5:10 I think I died and went to heaven.
whoa, this is a cool car...
awesome job!
Looks great!
That's one wicked longroof.
WAGOOOOOOOOOOONS! yes! also, hot hatches
and, yeah, that smoke problem is just that and may be the oil return for the turbo, or the rings, because that thing must be making way over 5 psi of boost. kinda freaks me out when I see it
AWESOME VIDEO & AWESOME CAR
Just 5 psi.... crazy what it could do if pushed to the max. But I love this Nova
A good therapist only shows you a mirror. You do all the work ;-)
Just do what others say you shouldn't this is a prime example
