I never warm the engine before i do an oil change i never have. The last 3 vauxhalls i have had i had masses of trouble getting the dam sump plug off as its tight as hell in the end had to weld bolts on the things to get them off. Great job i must say i do like the astra g best looking one in my opinion

Enjoying the tinkering videos Gary. Cars coming on a treat mate, I used to have an Astra H Mk5 1.6 SXI bulletproof engines, had it about 12 years no problems whatsoever, wouldn’t own a new Vauxhall now as owned by fiat, just my opinion 👍

Very entertaining video Gary, I did my cabin filter on my 2010 qashqai and it was the original Nissan filter that was in it, and it was as dirty as yours and just as fiddly. ☺👍

Have you got a cold air inlet pipe missing from the filter box? Bet it had an induction kit fitted and old air box put back on before sale.

The missing pipe was the first thing i noticed.
If your going to do the subframe, polybush the anti roll bar while its off.
Also on the rear check the rubber bump stops that the springs sit on when you change the springs. If they are original they will probably be perished just like they do on the Astra H.

I noticed the extra has uprated springs on when youwere doing the gearbox,they are red ,are you putting uprated ones on again Gary ?
It's has yellow apex on yes I'm upgrading them all round

Good advice Gary regarding the engine oil I prefer to do it whilst it’s cold

the reason you warm the engine is not so the oil comes out faster but so it lubes the engine ready once you refilled it and ready to start as say if the car was left over night as you say all the oil has drained to the bottom ,
So same difference then either way all old oil is at the bottom in the sump? In theory putting the new oil in at the top has to run down all the oil ways which lubes the engine to get to the sump to do a dipstick reading. 👍🏻
