Have you visited any of the Top Five Places listed in my video? Which is your favourite? Are there any places you think I should explore in my next video? Thanks for watching :)
Hello again! Hope you had a lovely Christmas, and are ready for 2025? I have not tried these things you mentioned but have been past the twisted items! Why don't you show the lovely Old Market Area, and the great drinking & eating on King Street! I love The Llandoger Trow which has a great selection of beer, and has amazing atmosphere in the summer sat on the outside benches! The entrance stone step was well worn from all the use over the many hundred years of use. They have now fitted a metal step over the top, to stop further damage. The Strawberry Thief in Broad Street is also highly recommended for great Belgian Beer, and some nibbles! We love Bristol's vibe, and will be back very soon!
@@pantani9886 happy new year! We did thanks, hope you had a lovely Christmas too. Thanks for your suggestions - I started filming around King Street already when we were out and about in the summer. That’s interesting about the step of the Llandoger Trow. Perhaps I’ll make one about Bristol’s best pubs too.
Hello Nicola, A very informative and entertaining video of these special 5 weird things to explore in Bristol! I definitely need to keep this in mind haha. Have a nice day! Many greetings from Styria, Austria 🇦🇹, Christoph 😄👌💐
@@NicolaExplores You're welcome, Nicola! It's always a pleasure to see something from the beautiful town of Bristol! Many greetings and a nice evening for you, Christoph. 🥰🏙
Wow, That was a interesting video Nicola. I love those twisted sculptures and the temple church. I must go and visit this place sometime in the summer xxxx
As a long term resident (and former attendee of Bristol Uni), I have to admit that I had never heard of the first two locations. I shall have to take a wander . . .
We have family in Bristol but are yet to explore it properly. Thanks for this tempting taster! Our sub brings you to within 9 of the big 1K milestone! N&Nx
Oh fantastic, thank you so much! Most people will start around the harbour or Clifton, but I thought this was quite fun and actually really enjoyed making it. I'm so excited to hit that milestone, so thank you so much. Nicola x
Ahhh, I wasn't imagining it when I saw the temple church tower and thought it looked like it was leaning last year! Love the twisted sculptures - I've not seen these in real life yet 😊
@@JessesGrandDaysOut the sculptures are definitely worth a visit the next time you’re in the area. As they were building the tower, they tried to stabilise it by building on an alternative slant at the top…also like Pisa. So it is rather peculiar to look at as it looks different from each direction 😅 but you didn’t imagine it 👍
My granddad told me that after the war, the officials were assessing buildings, and whether to bring the remains down, or make them safe. They decided that temple church was too badly damaged, and was leaning dangerously, and needed to be brought down, completely. It wasn’t until someone pointed out that it had been leaning since it was built, that it was decided to leave it be!
Very good video Nicola. The only places we've visited are the leaning church & the giants cave...and yes i was too scared to walk out onto the balcony. Loved the surreal phone box & lamps. Will have to visit these attractions. Lovely shots & edit. 😊😊
Excellent as always Nicola. Must visit the Kings Head again. It's been a while since I last popped in. I went to the Cornubia pub recently. Another nice boozer. Is the 'hidden' pub still at Clifton? Do you know the one I mean? Think it's called 'Her Majesty's Secret Service'. It's near Clifton railway station. If you walk past the phone box you've gone too far.
@@50thunderer26 thank you! ☺️ It is a great pub. I have never been to Her Majesty’s Secret Service - it looks like a lovely place to visit. Thanks for the tip.
@@NicolaExplores When I went to Her Majesty's Secret Service the drinks flowed well, and as expected the time came where a trip to the bathroom was required. I asked a member of staff where the gents were and he said "Through the coats." "Pardon?" I said. "Go through the coats" he said again. Sure enough, at the far end of the bar there are many coats hung on hooks. One had to push aside the coats and walk into them before finding a hidden door leading to the toilets.
Interesting, Nicola. I didn't know about the Palm Temple or the Mirror Maze. Have seen some but not all of the twisted art. Are you aware of the section of tramline sticking out of St Mary Redcliffe's graveyard? And I assume you know where all the Banksys are including the one on the side of the Central Library facing Lamb Street?
@@altair8598 thank you - hope you enjoy visiting if you take at look at them. I have filmed the section of tramline at St Mary Redcliffe although yet to work it into a video. I must admit I didn’t know about that particular Banksy - I am thinking of making a Banksy Bristol tour so will definitely check that out - thanks! 🙏
@@fussyboy2000 thanks for watching it 😊 Let me know if you need any more info. I listed all the place names and streets but happy to help if you want to find any of them and need any further details.

I visited Temple Church back in the ‘90’s. I had to get the key from the newsagent. Is that still the case?
No, it’s now open to the public during the daytime after major repair work to stabilise it.
Bristolians Lol
