Pretty sure the G7 black equalizer is accurate at setting 13. Which is what Samsung recommends if you want color accuracy. If my memory is correct that is. It's a very odd number to be the "standard" but I have my monitor calibrated so I keep it at 13. Part of that for me though is because the menu button never works after the monitor has heated up. So I only get about 5 minutes to change settings when I first turn the screen on. I love my 1440p g7 but the numerous issues bug me. Also Gsync being off is really sad because that's one of the big benefits of it, I keep mine on and ever since a firmware update I don't have flickering ever. The only issue I have is grey banding such as in the web browser but it is rare and not really a big deal. Lastly set sharpness to 56 and use nvidia overlay or something similar to increase sharpness instead. It looks way better and anything past 56 sharpness changes image quality for the worse imo. 56 is the setting for "normal" accurate sharpness so as not to distort the image or text. Every day I am tempted to replace it with a high refresh rate, true gsync, ips panel. I miss the vibrant colors on my very old and cheap acer ips screen.
Thanks for the detailed comment. I will surely check out the difference in setting the sharpness through nvidia vs monitor. There are several bugs that affect different individuals which can be a pain but it is still one of the best options out there as long as you didnt get the bad apple. I sometimes suffer from the monitor refusing to turn on after changing source and having to restart it from the mains which can be a pain, as well as some other minor annoyances. I would advise to weather the storm till you can get a QD-LED monitors, that's the only upgrade worth doing in my opinion.
I’m planning to buy the g7 monitor what do think should i get it ? if not which monitor should I get I’m mainly going to use it to watch movies and play games
I found it likes it best from 13 to 15 there is a little flicker if you go down to 12 or up to 16. I take that as a hint that it will work best on either 13, 14 or 15. But 13 is the default. but I used 14 when I used a colorimeter to calibrate it. But I'm trying out 15 now with dynamic contrast ultra. dynamic contrast actually works on this Monitor. all other monitors I've tried it on are way to slow to adapt. so no notice very much when it changes the contrast and looks pretty bad. on This monitor it's lighting fast, I don't even notice it. it just adapts to all my movies, pictures games. etc. even with gsync on. I've had samsung monitors before.. but this one is the real deal. the others are bad copies. normally I would agree to turn off all auto stuff on monitors because they suck.. But on this monitor.. they actually work. right now I've been lazy for a while. I mucked about with color settings. and didn't feel like calibrating or settings up properly. so I just put everything to auto. I was only going to watch youtube and surf that day. but to my surprise.. everything looked better and just worked better. it just worked. so I've been doing full gsync with VRR control (I find if you turn off VRR control and then on again after you've enabled gsync it removed all my flickering So I could just let it be on all the time. worked great for 2 months now with everything on auto. contrast. VRR. dimming. I will set it up properly soon. when I feel like it. I've had many cheaper samsungs with all the same features. but... none of those featured worked well. Now it does. Best monitor I've ever had. it just works. (ofc. some people might not agree, if they got a bad panel. as every G7 don't have the same panels or chips. Never be shy about returning monitors that might be buggy.
Ok, here is the thing. I noticed that when you turn ON the HDR in windows 11 you are unable to use clickable options on the screens except brightness. When you turn on HDR in Windows then you can use all the settings of the G7 but the problem is, quality is much better with HDR, because light and contrast without HDR is difficult to fix. Any of you have some idea ?
Interesting. As per some of my previous comments, I have not used HDR on this monitor as it just doesn’t have the hardware for a good HDR experience. Nonetheless, I’ll test what you describe and see if I can give my two cents. Thanks for the comment!
Hi Valcirin, are you referring to the calibration file from rtings? If so, they are on the website: www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/samsung/odyssey-g7-lc32g75t Go down to the Colour accuracy (port calibration), next to the title 'ICC Profile' there is a download link. Here is a link to the cheat sheet: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1r28ozBbXjsHxBL6xVOarfMFxvn2CBgIiSlNyMGzCgEc/edit?usp=sharing
Adaptative sync ON si actually the best overdrive mode for best image clarity (not talking about the benefit to have VRR and tearing reduction in addition). You should have it on the G7. Plus according to rting it offers the best input lag (with VRR control switch off). Since the last firmwares I have no problems with flickering with those settings.
@@Scheuer1 I won't be near my monitor for a few days but I do remember my brightness and contrast is around 65, black equalizer at 13, local dimming, dynamic contrast is off. I increase digital vibrance with Nvidia control panel to around 65% and lower the brightness and raise the contrast slightly until things look really good.
if you have an older Display port version or you play on an older hdmi the 240 hz might not show up because those older calbes do not support it...Hopefully this helped you
Hi Bobby, I’m my opinion, this monitor does not have enough local dimming zones to give you any real benefit from HDR. check out this video from hardware unboxed for more details; th-cam.com/video/hvMPeifY9sU/w-d-xo.html

Hello. I have the Samsung oddysey g7 LS28BG702ENXGO. The menu that show me to change the setting is different, you can please tell me if the setting are the same for the one that you are explaining?
It probably is not the most optimised for that monitor but we have not had a chance to test this. I would say though, most of the settings will be around the similar ballpark on most monitors.
I used this video a year ago and again as a reminder to leave freesync off lol I use this monitor for my series x, and currently playing cyberpunk 2.0 update and it’s gorgeous!!
I do notice when I have freesync off that a line goes up and down on my screen sometimes. It’s invisible and travels slow like a wave but distorts picture.
Hi Icecube2T8. The monitor stands are pretty standard "BONTEC Monitor Arm Mount" with separate arms. The key thing is using the vertical monitor to hide the arm where it mounts to the desk. This allows for cables to be well routed behind it as well. I hope that helps.
Not ideal for those productivity activities. You get used to it, yes, but I don’t recommend this monitor for those that spend a lot of time on spreadsheets.
i cant access my settings, when i press the button below my monitor and move it, it goes in any direction apart from the top one which is the settings. any idea on whjy it happens/how to fix it? btw amazing video
its maeby a stupit question man but can you help me out whnvr i set the adaptive sync off i dont get my mouse cursor on the screen any idea how to solve this thanks
Hi, I have two questions about this exact model, I currently use it myself and I can't figure out how can I make it turn on when the console or the PC turns on? The second question: is it normal for VA screen to have this weird horizontal lines placed on some little icons, if they have specific ambient colour backgrounds (it is mostly seen on deep blue backgrounds)?
@@MrTuxy I installed it and saw some people tested the G-Sync connection logs, but other than speculative testing it would be nice to know what it changed or improved.
Agree with Dkizzy’s comment. I’m not clear on what they updated. Samsung are clearly having trouble with the firmware on this product since day 1. I will update on this comment if I find something more detailed on what the updates do.
i have this one, but do we need to turn off game mode everytime we do not playing games? because it is flickering when i used to watch movie and doing photoshop. can it set to auto?
I am considering buying the 43 inch neo g7 but the problem is that some people told me that it has a bad va panel so there is ghosting. Can you please tell me the steps to minimize the ghosting?
Hi zain, thank you for the comment. It is a hard one to answer without context. If you use it only play CS Go, you can get away with gpus 2 generations behind the current 4000 series. If you play cyperpunk, then you need like an RTX 3090 to play at 1440p at medium settings.
@@DoubleTakeTechUk I run Cyberpunk at 1440p on the G7 with an RTX 2060 on a mix of high and ultra settings. DLSS is your friend. Forget ray tracing - it's overrated.

I agree! For me, I have Creative Katana V2 Soundbar under my G7 monitor and it's annoying to reach under the screen to access the menu every time because my soundbar gets in the way.
Great video, i want to ask what is gonna happend if i buy this monitor as second for my laptop and mirror it. The laptop has Nvidia 3070 video 1920x1080 resolution 360Hz so is it gonna have a lag on G7 ? Can i use this G7 monitor for heavy games max setting playing from the laptop with no lag ? And how is gonna be the screen quality becouse of the resolution?
Hi Kotarakbh, sorry for taking so long to get to your comment. Why would you mirror it instead of outputting your signal directly to the monitor? In terms of max settings, depends on the games but I do not believe many of the AAA titles will be playable at 240Hz with max settings even with a desktop RTX 3080. If you output 1080p to a 1440p monitor, the viewing experience will not be as good. Check out this short for comparison: th-cam.com/users/shortsw4xigk5EgVs?feature=share

I don’t have the opportunity to customise any of the settings in the settings menu on my Samsung Odyssey G7. I can only change the volume and that’s basically it. How do I fix that? The monitor is also limited to 60Hz in update frequency, instead of being the optimal 144Hz or higher. Could I be using the wrong HDMI-cable or is my performance card not good enough? Using a DisplayPort-cable is not an option (since the cable won’t fit into its socket) and my laptop maxes out at 120Hz in updating frequency.
@@DoubleTakeTechUk Hello sir. Thanks for replying but I actually fixed the problem myself before you replied. My adaptive sync was off and all I need to do was turn off HDR on Windows settings. After that I got access to the monitor’s menu. I don’t remember the exact process but I could turn on HDR again once I had my settings customised on the monitor itself. That’s nice.

So I just got this monitor for Christmas and I am noticing flickering when I play games like if the fps drops by a lil I notice flickering is there anyway I can fix this ?
Hi Clueless, have you checked your firmware is up to date? Also, what frame rates are you noticing the flickering at? If its at low refresh rate, try turning off your g-sync / Freesync options.
Hi @Scriptura, as suggested by the website, close any other applications running in the background. This includes tabs on your browser or any other applications.
i have this monitor and not sure why the 240hz option isn’t showing. i use 1440p and maybe it’s due to that? also gsync doesn’t show. do you know how to fix this?
Are you using the monitor with a display port or HDMI? Only display port can achieve 240Hz. Also, I believe g-sync only works over display port as well. I hope that helps.
How do I transfer the color accuracy post calibration settings from rtings site to my monitor and is it going to work because they said that results may very from unit to unit but I want to try either way. I heard it has something to do with downloading their ICC profile but idk how do I do that if I game on a console and not pc. Can someone help😬

Hi @betterdayz, thank you for the comment. The reason for the picture mode not being available should be one of the following: ―This menu is not available when Eye Saver Mode is enabled. ―This menu is not available when PIP/PBP is enabled. ―Picture Mode is disabled when the input is an HDR signal As far as 240hz with the PS5, this monitor does not have the HDMI 2.1 port so will not be able to support above 144hz on any HDMI input. I hope that helps.

Hi David, thank you for the comment. 'It depends'. I find it difficult to follow horizontal straight lines on say something like excel, however have no issues reading documents. Whereas Yoomyr feels he quickly adapted to it and wasn't much of an issue. As long as you can live with the look of lines looking a bit curved, it's definitely good in all other aspects. The curve is amazing for gaming. Both of us really enjoyed gaming on this monitor and agree it has to be one of anyones top picks in that category. You should check out the detailed review by Yoomyr on our channel to get more insight into our thoughts: th-cam.com/video/B8XA_3-M95Q/w-d-xo.html

Sorry for my english im from slovakia :D I will buy this monitor. But i have a question. Is this monitor good for a horror gaming or dark scenes in the games? Or i have to buy another? Thanks for the answers :D
Ahoj, Jan! I spent some time in your country for work back in 2019. You have a beautiful country. ☺️ The contrast ratio is key to this particular point- it’s extremely high. So you will have dark, deep blacks. I can tell you from experience; I played RE7 on this monitor and thoroughly enjoyed it. For sure, the new QD OLED aw3423dw is the best monitor you can get in every sense, and particularly for your use case because it’s ultra wide, and it has the true blacks that oled provides. But its 3x more expensive. So this is a good buy, for sure. Dobre? 😊
HDR is not only about how bright it can get it’s also about the wide color gamut and color definition it can produce I don’t understand why people only care about how bright it can get with HDR when it can have more color definition?
I don’t disagree; FALD backlight, plenty of local dimming zones, brightness, 10 bit processing, color space are all prerequisites to having HDR. This video was for the casuals like me with the simple message that this panel does not tick all the boxes for HDR; but we will take your feedback onboard for being more technically elaborate in the future to ensure we cover critical details like this. Thank you for your comment!
@@DoubleTakeTechUk Thank you for being so insightful and thoughtful, because of your review and many others I made the decision to buy the Samsung Odyssey G7 and was amazed by it, i was just confused with the whole HDR features as this is my very first impression and hands on with an HDR Feature I appreciate your opinion and insight on this monitor, and thanks to your setup guide I got the best out of the monitor many gratitudes towards you and I hope you have a wonderful day.
@@Memtex in an online world of trolls, people like you that take time to give actionable feedback is what keeps us going. Thank you for the kind words. 😊
It's not so much about the brightness, it's that HDR1000 screens tend to actually be FALD with hundreds of dimming zones. The problem with edgelit panels is that they don't have the ability to correctly show light and dark things in the same space. They have the ability to receive an HDR signal but not the hardware to produce an HDR picture. The G7 is an awful monitor for HDR and looks worse in SDR than cheap IPS displays. Worst purchase i've ever made as far as monitors go.
Hello! I have a rtx3080 and the hardware to properly support it. I am looking for a 4k monitor with 1ms response and a good 120hz+ refresh rate. As not being a professional, was wondering if my pc with rtx 3080 can even do a performance like this? Maybe with this monitor? Is this monitor maybe an overkill for my hardware? Thanks!
@Tamás Somogyi , thank you for the comment. Your question is very broad, I mean if you were playing CS:GO, you could work with a 4k monitor at 120hz. If you are planning on playing AAA titles, you will struggle to achieve maximum frame rates so would be less fruitful. Also, huge question is the screen size. At 27inch, 4k may be an overkill but at 32+ inches (also depends on the distance from the monitor) it's defos worth going for. There are countless videos which do benchmarking for certain use cases, find one which may suit you (eg 3080 playing a AAA title FPS). These should definitely help in your decision making. Also consider other use cases, are you going to watch movies / edit photos or videos / do office work? These things can also contribute to your decision.

Hey i got a G7 aswell atm im using awith hdmi cable (just for now) max refreh rate is 144 if i go back to my computer with better specs rtx 2080 or some will the monitor be compatible of running 240hz?
To achieve 240hz on this monitor you have to use a displayport cable (I use 1080ti and it works flawlessly, the rtx 2080 will work as well), the HDMI in G7 is a 2.0 version, meaning you are limited to 144 hz.
As per the comment from Daniel, you need to use a display port. Thanks @daniel manikowski With regards to the performance, RTX 2080 would be more than sufficient for a lot of games to achieve 240hz refresh rate, however, games like Call of Duty and Shadow of the Tomb Raider will struggle to push anything above 120-150 FPS.

Hi. I have the Samsung 4K 28" 144hz. I'm fighting with bad ghosting. Nothing helps. I've tried with Gsync, Response Time at Max level and Standard. Nothing helps. This ghosting is killing me.
@mimo83, It should never be that bad. Do you notice a difference when you change the response time? Also, with some monitors, the FPS being displayed can change the 'best response time' option. Make sure you are getting stable FPS out of your machine.
@@DoubleTakeTechUkhi...I've tried all the settings. I'm curious about HDMI 2.1 instead of my DP. I have ghosting every time when the game goes under 70 fps. I don't know how to eliminate this issue. On this Samsung monitor over 70/80 fps I cannot see any ghosting but under (on 60 fps it's unplayable) it's an eyebleader.
Please question When you try to change the local dimming from off, auto or on you can see the brightness of the screen increases and be strong quickly then return to normal. How to make the brightness strong like that always? Even if you put the brightness sitting to the full .. it won't reach that brightness. It means the screen can give more brightness and stronger.. but how ?

I tested the input lag and noticed Adaptive Sync Enabled also decreased input lag significantly compared to all overdrive settings.
If I set adaptive sync to ON I also have to activate G-Sync on my computer, right?

Hi David, thank you for the comment.
'It depends'. I find it difficult to follow horizontal straight lines on say something like excel, however have no issues reading documents. Ahoj, Jan! I spent some time in your country for work back in 2019. You have a beautiful country. ☺️
The contrast ratio is key to this particular point- it’s extremely high.
@@shiu-keecheung6211 i am looking for a monitor currently. That is why I asked @Double take tech ....I am not an expert :(
@Tamás Somogyi , thank you for the comment.

Or for dual monitor setup, consider the Kensington Monitor Arm: amzn.to/3Kjr48A
Hope that helps.
Does it have a frame rate counter ?
Game Adjust -> FPS Counter -> on/off
thx this video help me alot, thx you for taking the time to make it,
I can't set the refresh rate, does anyone know what to do with it?
I dead ass enjoy high refresh for office work. You notice when your scrolling through 100s of pdfs in a day reviewing them
Yes! Its great when you do a lot of scrolling which is why I included the scroll test in the video. Thank you for the comment 🙌
Does the black equalizer only works on PC I have a PS5 and it's wayyy to dark
Black equalizer is not available when the following conditions are met:
Eye Saver Mode is enabled
PIP/PBP is enabled
Picture Mode is set to Cinema or Dynamic Contrast mode
I cannot see anywhere if a HDMI connection would mean you cannot use it but there is a setting called Black Level. You can try adjusting this setting to improve the image quality.
@@DoubleTakeTechUkit won’t let me choose black level says it’s unavailable
Wmy black equalizer is Not working ?
the black equalizer cannot change in hdr only in sdr
Ive had nothing but problems setting my G70A up. First no screws for the mounting bracket. Then the DP port had no signal. Had to buy screws, and was and am so confused on the DP settings, It comes with default DP port 1.4 whcich gave me a blank screen that says no connection. I had to switch it to DP port 1.2 or 1.1 to display. Now I have the problem of where it only gets 30hz on 4K, or 60Hz on non 4k. Im ready to send it back. I still cant figure out how to get my 144hz to work. It came with the latest firmware installed. And my GPU is updated. So not sure what the problem is.
What gpu is it? Did it support dp1.4? Sounds like something in your system or cable is not dp1.4 compliant
@@DoubleTakeTechUk
3080ti. Just bought new DP cable 1.4 from Amazon. Today I'll be wiping my Nvidia drivers using DDU. And reinstalling them.
I'll also update my bios. And check my GPU wire connections.
I've tried everything else.
- advanced display settings
- device settings
- Nvidia control panel
-installed newest driver for GPU
- Installed newest drivers for monitor
- Installed latest firmware for monitor
- updated windows.
- set it in monitor settings to 1.4 DP
If this doesn't work I'll take it back tomorrow.
My Acer Predator monitor gave me no issues. I'll just keep using that. It works at 165hz 1440p no problem. So I'm really confused why this new monitor can't run more than 60hz .
@@razial5745 this shouldn’t happen, it’s very strange. It’s got to be the cable, otherwise I am very unsure on what could possibly be the problem. I have the 3080ti as well, no such issues.
nice video im interested in buying a g7 myself , whats ur screensize 27 or 32 ? And whats ur secound monitor ?
Hi Iceman, I have a 27inch on this setup. I would say if you don't have too much space from where you sit to the monitor, 27inch is plenty. If there is more than an arms length between you and the monitor, thats when I woould consider the 32inch.
Second monitor is a standard Dell 24inch P2421.
@@DoubleTakeTechUk thanks for the info , think i will get the 27 inch
Can someone help me with the Black Equalizer ??pls (ps5)
on 10 is a good starting point
I have the 27inch version and it’s 240hz but there’s only up to 144hz showing up on the monitor. Someone please help 👍
Are you using DP1.4? Hdmi will not support 240hz. Let me know if this works!
@@DoubleTakeTechUk yep I found the dp cable and it worked a dream, ThankYou 👍
I’m not sure if you’re using a desk or wall mount for the g7 at this point in time, but I’ve found it really difficult to find one that fits properly. Did you get a metal ring with the g7 for different mounts? Or could you make a recommendation for a mount that fits without the metal ring? Cheers.
@@Jameson-yr5mp there’s an adapter plate in the box that is standard VESA mount compatible, so as long as the monitor arm is VESA, you should be good to go.
What’s eye saver mode
Hi Mad gun, the eye saver mode is a setting that reduces the monitor's blue light intensity. This is suppose to improve your 'eye strain' but many people disagree it does anything.
You may just perceive it to be a lower brightness and contrast if you use it.
Hope that helps 👍
you're the best brother! i shouldve done this when i first bought it but i thought i was a know it all, little did i actually know q.q lol
i can’t access refresh rate or response time
If memory serves right (we sold this and upgraded to OLED), if you have the fastest MBR mode response time, those get disabled. Try changing those.
Still the best VA panel ever made, would i rather have an Oled? Sure but then i would have to worry about burn in, image retrntion and pixel degradation, the G7 is a workhorse that will hold its picture quality for years and years, so would i rather have an Oled.. probably not all things considered
gSYNC, Where is the option to turn it on lol
In your pc. 🫡
U HAVE A BLEACH WALLPAPER TOO? LETSSS GOOOO
Die hard fans. Btw, so excited for the final arc finally coming out!!
i have a g7 but its only showing 144 refresh rate?
Hi Whill, have you connected the monitor with a display port or hdmi? HDMI is only capable of displaying 144hz on this monitor (and majority of the monitors on the market) as it only has HDMI 2.0 capabilities.
i got the oddosy g7 and its a shit screen when it comes to modern warfare 2.. it hues in and out of light/dark as if it dont know what it wants... when im outside a house looking in through the door its Completly black i cant see ANYTHING.. and when i move closer the room brightens up to a point where i can see.. but if im inside looking outwards, the outside through the window is snow white and to bright..
also some rooms are also completly black in the game.
Just got this yesterday and the screen keeps going black flashing the HDMI channel I’m on and the turning back on 😩 any ideas what might be causing this? I got the G7 4K 144hz
Hi Icrecreamjelly, have you tried using different cables? I find a lot of the times the issue is due to a damaged cable or loose connection somewhere.
I play Fortnite with this monitor sadly my whole playstyle changed the screen goes black randomly sometimes the screen is like black my character is really big how do I fix
Best Warzone Monitor settings whis G7? Can u help
Hi Acesery, thank you for the question.
If you go to the end of the video at 8:11, the settings are listed for the G7 on the right column. These are what I normally use for warzone and they give me great performance.
I hope that helps.
Anyone using this with ps5? What picture settings are you using
Hi i bought G7 but i could not find the right option hidden what is the reason.
Did you ever find it? I'm having a hard time as well
