I just want to respond to some of the common comments in this section:
    1) The issue I discussed is far different than LeBron going to 7 straight finals or Jordan dominating the 1990's for many reasons, I hope we can all just see that without having to go into detail.
    2) Golden State will have 16 wins where the other teams only have 15 because the first round only required 3 wins for the other teams, so even if Golden State loses 1 game they will still have the best record.
    3) I won't be changing my name to Basketballs Worst and you're not the first to come up with that hilarious comment.
    4) The Celtics in the 1960's were dominant but never went flawless in the playoffs. Plus the league had far fewer teams and was nothing like it is today, so I don't see that as being a great comparison.
    5) At the end of the video I didn't mean to comment only if you agree with me, I meant comment if you see the from an objective standpoint. Big time Durant or Golden State fans may not be able to do that. But if you can and you disagree with me, comment away.
    6) I won't quit complaining and just stop watching because I love basketball and the NBA is the only real source for it. Plus when there's a problem it's our duty as fans to do what little we can to address it and fix it, not ignore it and walk away.

The Chris Paul trade wasn't allowed not because of Making the lakers too good, but because The NBA part owned the Hornets and David stern thought that the Hornets weren't getting back enough for giving away Chris Paul, so the CP3 trade example is mute because A. The NBA doesn't own the Warriors as they did the Hornets so they don't have Nearly as much power to do something and B. The trade wasn't even for the purpose of compitition.

People are saying the NBA is shit should realize that one guy had 11 championships in 13 years. The playoffs were literally irrelevant for over a decade. And people are complaining for these playoffs.

Basketball's Best and what up the bulls???? this video is nonsense, first of all the finals arent even over, secondly gsw build up their core by late round draft picks and picked durant afterwards...i dont get the complains thats only their second ring, we never know what might happen next so how can you argue already that they ruined the nba..... i mean dont forget that the spurs were pretty darn close to beat gsw and there is amazing young talent like giannis, porzingod etc. in the league

and this Warriors team had only won 1 championship in this era, 0 if you count KD and these idiots already crying about impartial. Cavs is actually very close to the Warriors if we compare players by players on paper, oh they also have "the best player player of this era" in his prime who his fanboys called GOAT. They also went 11-1 ffs. People cant blame Warriors for playing good basketball and not Cavs for playing shitty iso ball and defense.

it's like when the Yankees or Patriots Dominated. it forced the rest of the players to get better. How can a team being "too good" be bad for the NBA? It's elevating the standard if competition and in the long run, we're going to be seeing even more outstanding basketball.

I get some of your points here but there are a few details you should consider:
1)Kevin Durant wanted to win a championship now rather than later. As you mentioned, OKC was not a good environment for him to achieve that but some of his other options were also not going to get him anywhere. The other options he had were all flawed situations(with the celtics, the team would have to rely on him because the only other scorer on that team is I.T, who is too small to be a significant threat on defense. The only other good option were the spurs, which would've still been an issue for K.D because the spurs would've probably had to sacrifice depth to sign him and as we saw this postseason, L.A is not a guy you can rely upon.) By joining the warriors, he not only went to a team with a winning culture, but he went to a team that was filled with shooters, scorers, and defenders all around him. It was clearly the best option he had available(which also addresses why he joined the team that beat him the prior postseason). When people compare him joining the warriors, to LeBron joining the heat, they compare the makeup of the team rather than the situation. Both teams had 3 superstars(Though to me, the warriors only have 2) and both teams came off crushing losses the previous postseason. I'll get into the warriors team wise in #2, but Durant joining the warriors was the best situation for him if he wanted to win a ring.
    2) The warriors were clearly not going to beat the Cavaliers without acquiring another scorer and Kevin Durant was the best option available. Their personnel were also flawed with Barbosa, Bogut, Speights and Ezeli either being on the edge of their careers, or massively injury-prone. Speaking of the cavaliers though, there's a ridiculous hypocrisy regarding this whole situation. It's not a problem that the eastern conference offered little resistance to LeBron James led teams over the last 4 seasons(causing the same opponent in the finals year after year since 2010) but it's a problem for the warriors to be dominant themselves? The western conference was definitely worse this year, but teams like the spurs and rockets could've easily caused the warriors massive issues had they not gotten Kevin Durant. The spurs were always a tough opponent for the warriors and the rockets crafted their team to basically follow the same offensive mindset as the warriors. Without Kevin Durant, we would have seen an exact copy of last year where the warriors eventually get worn out by the west, ultimately causing another finals loss to the cavs in my eyes. The warriors needed a counter to the fire power of LeBron and Kyrie, which led them to pursue Durant. I get that the balance of power has shifted significantly as a result but even then, it's only 1 season. There are a ton of stars like Gordon Hayward and Paul George who are likely going to change teams. The current salary cap also favors super teams so who's to say that a team from the west won't make a run for a star(such as, Chris Paul to the spurs for instance)? You wouldn't want to watch the spurs with chris paul against the warriors next season? Even this postseason, the spurs got unlucky with Kawhi's injury causing them to be swept but they could've easily pushed their series to 6 or 7 games with a healthy Kawhi based on how well they were playing game 1. Bottom line, if you're going to be unhappy with the warriors dominance, at least be consistent and also be mad at the eastern conference teams for constructing themselves so poorly where no team has even a shot to challenge the cavs. You watched the raptors and celtics series right? Neither team even put up a fight!(Except Game 3 for the celtics but even in that game, the cavs were blowing them out at one point).
    3) Why should Adam Silver and the NBA be concerned? For starters, the warriors domination can be blamed on numerous other teams. Their current three stars(Curry, Green and Thompson) were all drafted by them with other teams having an opportunity to snag them. That's Golden State's fault? They should have gone for Kevin Durant because they want to win championships. Why should any of the warriors have an issue with that? Most people nowadays judge players on their rings anyways(which is stupid in my opinion, but people do use that standard), which is why golden state's stars had no problem with getting Durant. Why would they? They want to win a championship and if they got Durant, they would maximize their chances. Getting Durant doesn't effect whether it's "legitimate" or not. A championship is a championship. If you're concerned about future seasons, you shouldn't be either. Kind of like I said in #2, there are plenty of opportunities for teams like the celtics and spurs to load up on talent via draft or free agency, which can easily cause some potential intriguing match-ups next season and beyond. Don't listen to ESPN analysts when they confidently say "the warriors are going to win 4 championships in a row" because you have no idea whether someone on the warriors gets injured or if a blockbuster deal happens or whatever. Just because one NBA season was lopsided, doesn't mean the next season is going to. Teams just weren't expecting Durant to sign with the warriors and as a result, they were ill-prepared to handle the warriors this past season. In the future, you don't think that'll change? I would actually be shocked if the warriors win more than 2 championships considering all the potential deals that can happen this upcoming season. The only team that might truly be affected competitively in the end by all this is Cleveland. They're over the luxary tax and would have to undergo a ton of massive contract reconstructions and trades in order to build a roster to match the warriors. Teams like the celtics and spurs though(as well as other teams such as the bucks, thunder, clippers, etc.) are on the rise and could make things very interesting against the warriors in the future.
    4) The comparisons with Jordan are getting ridiculous. Why would he change teams if the other teams he were facing weren't stacked or loaded with all stars? People are acting like the cavaliers are just a decent team or something. You realize they have three all stars(with two of them being the best player in the world and the other being the best ball handling scorer in the league, the other being one of the greatest rebounders in the league and a spot up shooter) and a ton of veteran three point shooters right? Jordan would eventually get help in the form of Scottie Pippen which is why he wouldn't need to leave the bulls to join the pistons(not to mention the fact that the bad boy pistons were aging themselves). Your Tim Duncan analogy similarly doesn't take into account that the spurs still had David Robinson and a solid foundation themselves with the Kobe-Shaq feud being a huge story at this point. Everyone knew that the lakers were going to ship either Shaq or Kobe within a few seasons. Kevin Durant would not have beaten LeBron and the cavs unless he joined the warriors specifically. Going back to my point about the heat superteam, they were constantly going to lose to the celtics unless LeBron got help. Similarly, you can view the cavs as the 2008-2012 celtics in the regard that they were simply not going to lose as presently constructed. If you needed proof, go back and look at how the eastern conference fared against LeBron's cavs these past playoffs.
Why should you watch the playoffs right now? Because the level of domination by the warriors is historic in ways we haven't seen before. You realize that they might go 16-0 in the postseason? That's not something you'd be interested in seeing? My point is that Durant joining the warriors isn't going to "ruin" the season because it was still a notable season for reasons that you mentioned in the video. It was still an enjoyable watch though so great job! (Sorry if I sound annoyed. I've just heard this same argument over the last year over and over again so it's degrading to hear at this point)

Great post! There is just one thing I want to add.
Forget a moment that we talking about or consider the players playing the game as someone doing his job, and trying to achieve his career goal. Some people focus on making the money, other focus on getting promotion and respect. we all do what is best for us and we don't always live to satisfy others. Why are then blaming Durant for chasing his dream of being a champion, making a decision that is best for him?
When we send our kids to college, most of the time if we were to chose where where they should go, we want them to go to the top ranked colleges and universities because we want what is best for them, we want them have a high chance of getting a great job after graduation. we want them to have a great chance and more opportunities for their futures?
Similarly, Durant has made a choice to go join the team with which he has great shot at the ring that he is chasing.
let's not judge Durant because we are alll doing the same over and over but nobody talks about it just because we are not a star

I understand the point. I also thought this season would probably become "boring" when Durant let us know he was going to the Warriors last summer...BUT there's always a but! We have to remember it actually was LeBron who started this "let's form a superteam to make it easy for us to win championships" with the Heat back in 2010! It doesn't really matter it was the Heat and the team wouldn't have won without him as the point still stands! LeBron built TWO superteams(Heat and the current Cavs) to make it easy for himself to cruise through the East to the finals. So basically LeBron and his fans have practically no right to complain now.
I also think it's kinda unfair to blame Warriors for this. Why should they have declined the chance to sign Durant? The organization is there to win so why not take the chance when it's given? Sure it would be nice and fun to see 30 "equally good" teams competing but the modern pro sports don't just work that way anymore. We also have to remember the other big stars(Curry, Thompson, Green) have been drafted by them with not so high picks! This current Warriors team has actually been built with much more skill than the LeBron-superteams which were simply built up through free agency. So instead of blaming the Warriors of being too good we should recognize the exceptional work they have done to build the team they have.

    • @basketballsbest1858
      @basketballsbest1858  7 ปีที่แล้ว

I absolutely recognize the exceptional work they have done. I don't exactly blame the organization, more the players on Golden State for wanting him there. They have done too good of a job. I don't want 30 equal teams, I want a variety of skill levels but want a handful of teams to at least have a decent chance.

I understand the points made here but there are a few things that might be a little off.
    1. GSW players asked Durant to come over and Durant WANTED to. He seems happier because he is playing a style of basketball that he likes/excels at and is playing with friends.
    2. In 10,15, 20 years absolutely nobody will say "Technically NBA champion, Kevin Durant" they will say "NBA champion, Kevin Durant" because nobody is going to care after the fact.
    3. If you go to the park to play some pickup games and one team has four regular dudes while the other team has Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Wilt Chamberlain... Which team are you going to?

I like how you used the Tim Duncan example, but said KD needed to leave OKC, the only possible contender except for the Clippers or Celtics (Maybe). Also, your ending point basically said "If you don't agree with me, don't comment." I'm a Kevin Durant fan, but before anything I'm a Rockets fan and I still enjoyed the season/off-season very much. My Rockets nearly swept the Thunder and had a good series with SA until Harden gave up in game 6. The Spurs could've easily pushed the Warriors to 6 or 7 games if Kawhi hadn't gotten injured, so the "lack of excitement" in the WCF was purely due to unfortunate circumstances. Even the finals was entertaining in games 3, 4, and 5. Another thing about your ending point, that "see it for what it is" line was foolishness. If we're looking at it for what it is, it was a man that was unsatisfied with the success of his business partners and wanted out. His only options were go to another business and compete or join the business that was doing the best so he could be in a happier environment and be successful. More importantly, it's good basketball. Instead of being upset because you always check their game results and see Ws, watch the games and enjoy the high-level basketball being played because every game isn't a blowout. Just like any team they have close ones and blowouts.

I think the problem with that is it made Golden State too good. I think people are most motivated when the goal is within reach. If there's a team a little better, they will push themselves a little more to reach that level. When the other team much better, it could be demotivating because no matter how hard they work they won't compare.

Even though I'm a DIE HARD kd fan and now a warriors I kinda agree. It's like when you play a five on five with your friends and the five best players are on the same team. It's obviously not fair. Talent has to be equally distributed. There should be a rule where you cannot have more than two all stars on a team unless you Drafted your all stars. Anyways, nice vid basketball best

I'm not exactly sure if the rule should be as definite as that, just when a problem is obvious, fix it. That's all the NBA needs to do. 15 straight playoff wins may be a good sign of when to step in.

Nobody shams Bron for going to the finals 7 straight times with 2 other all-stars. Bron didn't just go to Miami to play with his friends but to make a big three like Boston who held him back. And he left with the formula to get a big three in Cleveland. Yes the Warriors were good but come on Bron didn't have someone to match up against him. It's actually a good match up but better team basketball. Bron is typically a ball heavy player and guys don't get into a rhythm when playing against really good teams

It's bad for basketball because this eventually means another " super team" is going to form. It has been this way since 2008, if you can't beat them, join them. The big 4 of the Celtics formed because the players of on that couldn't defeat the spurs and lakers of the 2000s. Then, LeBron goes to Miami because he couldn't beat those Celtics in Cleveland. Miami goes on to defeat the teams like the Celtics, Pacers, and Thunder in the playoffs. Brooklyn tries to create a super team in response and the Celtics decide to rebuild, thus a trade between the two teams. Miami eventually loses to the spurs in 2014. LeBron goes back to Cleveland and forms another super team. This team defeats golden state in 2016 which prior defeated OKC. And Durant leaves and joins up to form the monster you see today.

People are saying GSW has the best ever offense. The Stoudemire Nash suns were fun to watch. Duncan Manu Parker Spurs were fun to watch. This circus happening right now is NOT fun to watch. Jacking up crazy 3s and making most of them is not what offense should be about. In a lot of people's perspective it should be about creating quality shots and closely contested low percentage shots should only be taken if absolutely necessary. What the warriors are doing is just not fun to watch anymore. It's like having steak every day - yeah, you'll like it for a while, but then it gets boring and repetitive. Same goes with those 3s. They found a secret weapon that they've built upon for a long time and they're now getting wins by executing. Good for them, but that's slowly ruining the league. Now everyone wants to get in on it - big men are starting to take more and more long range shots to stay relevant. This isn't fun, nor beneficial to the league.

I think when you're starting your career in the league, winning the championship is the main goal. Durant's reasons for moving was not exactly the same reason as LeBron's, but they both had a goal to achieve. LeBron then moved back to Cleveland to try to build a championship team for his home-- Durant may grow up" and make and a similar decision in the future to bring competition back into the league, perhaps after a 3-peat or 4-peat. But good competition also forces everyone else to become better, and there are many potential stars out there who might live up to the challenge.

    • @basketballsbest1858

  • @wikisaiyangmail

the hornets-lakers trade that was nixed had nothing to do with "competition" or "a team being put together that is too good". The NBA owned the hornets and knew the teams tickets sales and fan appeal would go down the drain w/o CP3.
    Furthermore,
I really dont like how KD went to the warriors but a. it was all legal (due to warriors drafting their big 3 of draymond, klay, and curry) and b. the NBA and Silver CANT and SHOULDNT stop something that a team is doing if it is within the rules. HOWEVER, the rules and current CBA should be looked at/discussed so something like this wont happen again.

I hate that Arguement about LeBron going to Miami. Lebron fans need to let it go. "Oh they weren't great before him going there" and "they weren't a 73 win team". No kidding but they were an empty canvas with Pat Riley and D Wade. The only difference is that golden state is a system already set up, but LeBron literally hand picked everyone he wanted to make that team in miami. So hand craft a team or join a team created by draft picks? They only lost the first year because of a choke job, they should've won that championship against an old J kid and only prime All star was Dirk. Then when LeBron saw things looking bleak because they lost a title, he heads back to Cleveland to do it all over again with Kyrie, Love and Thompson. Everyone can say Golden State would've won this year but are they defending champions? Nopeee, Cavs are. So the champ sets the bar, it's up to the next best team to Overthrow the best team. I love your Videos and I didn't even like Durants Move.. But this is just a video about how upset you are with Golden State being the new 90's Bulls. Also luck would be the real reason they went 16-0, Kawhi would've gotten at least one and he was on track to do it. I'm glad they did it, so I don't have to hear about LeBron blowing everyone off the courts year after year with his stacked teams while hiding in the east.

How in what way is building a team from scratch any worse than going to a team that has a system SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED for your type of scoring play style. It's ridiculous what Kevin Durant did. Lol you can't argue about the Chris paul trade lol, Kevin is a free agent, he has his right to choose which team he want to sign. The league have to be okay with it as long as their team has a cap space. The reason why cavaliers cannot play as well as warriors is because their defense and basketball fundamental is lacking, if you watch game of spurs or warriors, you will see their style of play. Durant move to warrior was not a good one, but if a man want to win a championship, he has to do what he has to do. It is lucky that Durant was able to fit into the Warriors system. If you take a look at the free agents from before, where Howard sign for lakers and team chemistry was horrible. Sometimes the team look really good on paper but does not perform well together (New York Knicks with Amar'e and Carmelo). 3,4 years ago, this warriors team would be irrelevant, but you have to thanks their front office and management for making the choices that no one would, drafting two guards that scout consider to be one dimensional, draft an undersized center in the second round and signing good key role players. Now, if you look at Thunder, they had Harden, but GM decided to trade him away to save money, and resign ibaka instead (lol), had they keep their team together and focus on training the players better (rather than just have Durant and Westbrook shoot all the time), then maybe Durant would have stay. As for the further of the nba, I think it will be very exciting after next season when 76ers mature a little more, we will see more of lakers and bucks, who knows, maybe a good player will sign with 76ers if their draft players become good like warriors

The NBA owned the new Orleans Hornets team cp3 was on instead of a third party private owner like most teams because they were in financial trouble so stern nixed the trade because the NBA would be lost money in that trade cp3 brought value to that team and the NBA had no stake in the okc to gsw trade...they were not owners of either team

The problem is that you don't understand that NBA Players like Kevin Durant our Small Business owners. NBA players/NBA owners have partnership which both parties enter into legal contract. Also both partnership must follow the policy/rules under a third partie business corporation (NBA Logo Brand). The Warrior's Ownership had a company had a vision and put a business plan in to action to meet there goals. Kevin Durant is part of a employee union that focuses on there best work environment. The other NBA Team Ownership have their own business model and make choice on how they run there company. So stop watching and Kevin earn his rings. All this what if's come downs you and your benefits. Kevin doesn't need to understand your weak reasoning for his choice of work place.

Man you should do videos considering yourself as the athlete. Me being a soccer and basketball fan, it is only logic that I want to get into the best team in my field. Specifically in the NBA championship knowing the dominance of GSW and Cleveland, there was only two option for you to win a championship. Last year everyone thought is would be the Warriors winning but we all know how it ended. So you cannot come out and shout the they would have win without KD anyway. GSW is so good because Kyrie and Kevin Love hasn't been at their best. This year final is all about defense and Cleveland hasn't respond with the best defense. Also do not forget that those same Warriors almost got beaten by the Spurs in game 1 if not for Leonard's injury. I cannot say anything about the time of MJ not having enough info of then.. As a basketball fan, am expecting game 4 to be a lot different with a win for the Cavs simply because the chosen one won't go down so easily. A few years ago when Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen had their first season with the Celtics, they were called the big 3. Miami assembled their big 3 James, Wade and Bosh. Now its time for the big 4. Curry, KD, Klay and Draymond.

Durant worked so hard in OKC and didnt earn anything. What if he goes to the Clippers and still not win anything? All that hard work for nothing. He will be nothing more than a stat player and be forgotten if he doesnt get a ring. Just compare his move with russell westbrook. Only hardcore fans are going to remember westbrook.

    • @basketballsbest1858
      @basketballsbest1858  7 ปีที่แล้ว

Henry, it wasn't a ton of work leading to nothing. The payoff was going to come soon. It takes time to win a championship. Growing with a team and inching toward a championship is the dream and he was coming close to doing it. The only reason it lead to nothing is because he gave up before it happened. I don't know if Westbrook or Durant will be more remembered but I'm confident it's all this negativity that Durant will be more remembered for rather than his championship.

Very good video, and this is coming from someone who usually hates these kinds of videos. However, you actually presented a pretty good case where GD and Isaiah usually just bitch and moan. And I almost completely agree with you except for one thing that everyone overlooks. Golden State much like the clippers were awful for so long. They were the joke of the league at one point. So for example, I grew up and live in mesa, az where the suns have never won a championship and are now the same joke the warriors and clippers once were. If the suns somehow were able to get a stacked team and then on top of that add a MVP type player, I would be all for it and would want it as long as I could have it. Golden state isn't doing anything that any other team can't do. If greedy players were willing to take pay cuts like steph curry who is way underpaid, they'd be able to build super teams as well. Steph takes a pay cut, so he's able to win championships. The patriots have been doing the same thing for decades. If lebron wants help that much, it costs money that the cavs don't have because they have to pay him so much. I think if players are willing to take pay cuts to win championships, they should be allowed to do so.

And I can say I agree with this video, especially once I saw the day it was posted. But with this Post-Season (such as the free-agent signings and the really good draft class & the picks made by the teams), I can say I see why the NBAs didn't stop the KD trade. But the NBA should have even though it couldn't have stopped the trade because of what happened the first time it stopped a trade with Chris Paul and the lakers. Not too mention they wouldn't have known about all the changes the 2017 NBA Off-Season would hold.

gsw destroyin the nba with their super team. a super star joining a group of superstars bc he cant get himself a ring? where's the competitiveness in this? they want to tke it the easy way and gsw players like curry and kd wouldnt be supwr stars if they werent on a super team like this.

Kevin Durant joined the Warriors to better HIS career. He made the decision that was best for HIM. HE wanted to get a ring so HE joined a team HE knew would have a shot. Kevin Durant made the decision for HIS best interest not the fans of the NBA.

i think you are a 100% right cuz this problem became to great. Without durant, the Warriors roster would have been great but because of durant he has made the team too great for any team to beat.(im also warriors fan)

Even the Warriors fans are getting a bad deal from this. I just don't see who benefits from his decision.

too bias...its personal choice to choose which team you want to join?Right? Objective is to win the championship KD+SC doesn't guaranteed CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!
