Free methane for cooking and heating and can even convert a generator to run on methane.. I'm going to go that way as I'll have enough stuff to feed into the tanks plus can't afford the solar system..

Great install, looks like you have a good well and it looks in great condition, fingers crossed your able to use the water in your house (i'm sure all watching will want to know how that goes) but at least you have water for your garden. This is something we would love to have but unfortunately we don't :-( keep the videos coming there very entertaining & no tv licence required btw we currently have 21 red letters from the tv licencing, saving them up for when they turn up, or we may return to sender as that costs them. Real glad to see u back on TH-cam Gary. That well might be handy for a ground source heat pump for when we are band from burning fossil fuels and wood. Glad to hear ur going to insulate the house. Next year we will look at insulation being added to the cavity wall of the house. Should be a big improvement for us. Then solar has to be on the cards. Love to see more on ur solar setup. When u insulate also look at air tightness of the house
Thanks Marcus, being an old cottage we are just going to batten out a couple of external walls from the inside, then a little rock wall, then tongue and groove panels, we have solid walls here, our loft has been well insulated for many years now with 100mm Kingspan and completely boarded out on top, that was hard blinking work many years back. It sounds like your heading in the right direction in your place, i feel energy prices are still cheap !!! ha ha cos its going to get worse ! good luck and take good care

Nice to see you still battling on. Your water system would benefit from a pressure vessel to stop pipe hammer, the pressure switch cycling the pump, even the water flow and allow some pressure to be in the pipes. You possibly would benefit from a second non return valve at the top of the well so you aren't just relying on one non return to stop contamination flowing back into the well
Hello Tyson, thanks for your tips, im no expert ive just watched a few video on here, the pressure vessel you mentioned would that be like one of then expansion vessels but larger used in home heating systems ? i also have a spare non return valve that could be fitted easily at the top. thanks for your help. Hello its always good to hear from you. im afraid we no longer have ducks, they all went into the freezer 2 months ago due to many reasons, feed cost rises ( price of grain nearly doubling ! ), bird flu, its hard to house a duck thats used to freedom ! and they make too much of a mess on that pond, we could do with a lake ! and we also needed the food for ourselves ! We will be having handy tips in our new vids with the cost of living rising like crazy. thanks so much, we are making many changes here and prepping for the future like you, thanks so much keep safe and well. Have you been spying on me? I had exactly this conversation with my brother and my nephew as to how I could get the well pump to work and whether I should get a 12 V or 24 V and how we control pressure switch et cetera. Thank you for explaining it all in your typically humorous way :-)

The higher the voltage the thinner the cable can be for less power droppage, a 12v deep well would have to use a lot thicker cable to compensate, but if its only shallow it would be fine, hence why the power network across the country uses such high voltages such as 11KV to transport over large distances then drops down at substations to supply homes.

Fantastic...super jealous. Do you think you'll need some form of water treatment (chlorination, filtration, UV, boiling) before plumbing into the house drinking water network...? I guess you'll have a better idea after the testing. Is there a chance of bacti contamination from your poultry, duck pond? or is the groundwater deep enough to be protected by the soil and rock in between the surface and the water...really hoping to be off grid too some day.
Hello, even if the water tests safe it will still go though filters and UV lamps before it goes into the house, a big important must , also it will still be tested regular. I would hate to poison the family with some water born disease or pollutants . I will be going over the top on water safety. So Gary does the charge controller know when the batteries are fully charged, or is it that it knows that there is too much energy being produced …I’m really interested in how all this work. 😃another great video
Hello Jill, a good question, the charge controller measures the battery voltage very precisely, as small as 0.1 of a volt increments. When the voltage hits a certain voltage the controller knows its fully charged. A fully charged 12v battery reads normally at 14.2 volts. When it reaches that amount the controller switches off the power from the solar panels. This solar equipment is very reliable and rarely goes wrong, im talking over 20 years life in many cases ! i love solar ! thanks Jill, hope your keeping well and of course being your normal fugal self ! im even buying my cloths from charity shops now ! a lovely new looking pair of jeans for just £2 !!

Hello Dilly, my dad bought me an orange tree about 9 years ago which over the years came close to death many times and Vicky bought that lemon tree about 6 years ago. It all seemed to grow well as soon as i re potted them in soil from the garden with added wood chip, chicken poo, crushed egg shells and wood ash using a very large pot, too heavy to move !!! especially when i bring them in to the conservatory to over winter ! Then i watered them only with the pond water which is high in nitrated because or the ducks pooping in it. This all happened just 2 years ago ! ha ha a long time to finally to get them to fruit ! I am sure a water but with a sack of manure hung in it will do the same as our pond water. I no longer have ducks, they all went in the freezer 2 months ago !!! so i will also use manure in a water but in the future. I don't like using the citrus tree liquid fertilisers from the shops as we like to be organic and know what's in our food. thanks Dilly keep safe and well.
