Well done job on Tidying up the garden/allotment Katrina. Yes, it's a good idea to keep part of it untidy for wildlife. Keep safe, warm, well and happy gardening.

Great job! Here in central Texas were are preparing for the spring garden, we plant in March. Get's warm here very fast so we started seed in the greenhouse. Our garden is on about 2 acres and we produce lot's of produce, fruit and herbs. We are looking forward to a trip here soon to the UK Cotswold this year.

Winter is a wonderful time to tidy up. Most of my life I waited until spring which is silly since spring is so busy with other things. I've gardened for over 40 years and it's just been the last few that I've worked in the winter in my garden. I hope bunches of new gardeners see this and are inspired to do the same early in their gardening endeavors. Great video Enjoyed it.

I have size envy 😄 My allotment doesn't allow for tall trees and I really miss the feeling of containment you get from hedges and trees and upwards growth. I'd love to have fallen leaves on my plot and a place for the birds to dart between.

Yep, winter chores are in progress, trimming and cleaning up and what not. I agree with you on the power tools. I switched to all electric tools over the last few years both corded and battery. I like that there is less maintenance for them and love how quiet they are. I find gas engine noise really annoying in the garden.
You've done well, now maybe I should get busy again. 👍

Black Walnut trees pop up like mushrooms in USA, I typically use a herbicide to take care of the regrow before digging out the crown. Brambles are not easy to get out of any allotment when the neighbor refuses to do any work to control them.. The past three years I been a slave to clear the overgrown brush from our property (wild rose, blackberries and trees) before planting fruit trees and berry bushes.

Good job! Cutting back the jungle takes a lot of effort. Your electric pruners looks like a great tool. I agree with you, hedges make a great natural barrier as well as promoting cover for wild critters. Thanks for being so considerate of the birds! As you know, I'm sure, birds really need are help in this day and age. Here right now, with so much snow and winter to go still, I'm only seeing a few Steller's Jays, Canada Grey Jays, little Chickadees, a local flock of wild turkeys and the local Raven family. Down at the marsh and big lake there are Canada Geese and a few ducks paddling around. Take care and keep gardening! Cheers!

Saw the intro video. I'm in Montana, and just got a small 10'x20' green house given to me yesterday. It collapsed under a snow load, so had to dig it out. Thinking about installing it with snow still on the ground. Want to get an early start. Lovely accent btw. It is also easily understood. I'd lend you a hand, but the trip would be a bit much.

I'm one for leaving all the deadheads and brackeny bits for as long as possible too, but once the bulbs are up a few inches I like to get tidied. I wonder if you can help me Katrina, I have 2 Autumn Bliss raspberries which I got last year. Obviously no fruit last year, but should I prune them right down now, there are only two twigs, but not sure what to do. Any help very much appreciated.
